I understood what you said about the damage output with buffs vs. the amount of HP there is currently and was agreeing with it. When I was discussing the gap between the rich and poor, it was something else entirely, I realize you weren't talking about that. I should have been more clear though that they were two separate thoughts. If we make the buffs available to all of the players who are rich/have enough tokens to afford this, it's just making it worse for those who can't afford it. Instead of a handful of people having it, every geared player will have it. It wouldn't be limited to a 2 week period either, it'd be for a potentially unlimited amount of time. Some people have more than enough tokens to afford to have those buffs for months on end. There are players that aren't that new to the server, but don't have the means to donate and don't have rich friends to give them free items/tokens. They'd have to farm a lot to be able to afford the buffs continuously, assuming they've already managed to save up enough for good gears (which would take quite a lot of work). Guilds pooling resources so everyone in them could afford the buffs for WoE is a good idea and you raise a good point about that, but I'm still not sold on the idea. I'm by no means opposed to it and think it could work well, I'm just worried about it making the gap worse for those who can't find guilds with people that can afford it, those who don't have enough tokens to continuously afford it, etc. Yes, the gap already exists, but as she pointed out "The only reason it works with guild hideouts is because guilds don't invite everyone - only their friends, and everyone else is an enemy. Not everyone is running around doing high amounts of damage to each other." Giving it everyone who has tokens at once and with no time limits widens that gap.

I think you misunderstood what I said. The gap I'm talking about is the gap between those with tokens and those without. When you say "I'm just trying to make it accessible to everyone and not just one elitist group," it's not really to everyone, but those with enough tokens that can continuously afford it. Thus why I raised the concerns I did after my first few sentences. I do like the idea of including a buffer hall pass for new players, though. But I don't feel like any of the things you've mentioned really address the concerns I brought up in the post. Yes, new players are bound to be behind... but continuing to widen the gap between those with tokens/those without will make it much more difficult for them to ever get up to speed. We're trying to work in the other direction.

As of right now, there isn't going to be a 2nd and 3rd prize winner, though that may change since there's so many great entries. We'll see. :3

If you'd like to suggest this, please make a new topic. The top 3 system works fine, in my opinion, and others have already pointed out the problems that would arise from changing this. What we could possibly do is change PvP ladder back to one week again, but only if people were in favor of it and provided good reasons. If anyone's interested in this alternative, please make a new suggestion about it. - Rejected -

We'll look into doing something like this, thanks for your suggestion. - Accepted -

This would be easy to do I believe and make it a little more convenient for people so I believe we can do this. Why don't people suggest the exact order they'd like all of the options to be in so we can get this all ironed out all at once?

I want to commend you for making such a well thought out, thorough suggestion. It's very impressive and I think you've made your point extremely well. I'm not against this at all and believe everything you're saying is legitimate, but personally, I'm dubious about buffs as a whole since I think Kittie raised a legitimate point. Buffs can be extremely problematic, especially when they're available on such a wide scale. Doing something like this, as Forum~ said, would help to close the gap between "mid-tier players and the elite-veteran players." However, newer players, those who can't donate, and/or those who don't have rich friends that give them free handouts would have difficulty affording this, wouldn't they? This would make the buffs accessible to more players, yes, but it's going to open up an even wider gap between those with tokens and those without. Now it won't be only equipment, weapons, and amount of supplies that separates players but also the amount of buffs they have. For the people previously mentioned who can't afford the buffs, equipment, etc., it's going to make it much more difficult for them. To them, wouldn't it be better to have only a small amount of players have it for a couple of weeks rather than everyone who is rich/has token/donates have it for unlimited amounts of time (yes, it's hourly, but if I have hundreds or thousands of tokens I'd have no trouble affording it for weeks or months consecutively...)? The token prices are reasonable, yes, but for a lot of people they're hard to obtain and take a long time. Are you going to spend them on buffs for a few hours or save up for gear? If they already have some gear, they'd have to do a lot of farming and hard work to be able to afford this to stand a chance in PvP against those who have potentially unlimited amounts of tokens. That being said, I'm in no way against this suggestion, just trying to consider all aspects and implications of it.

That would involve creating tons of new items that are just duplicates of the existing ones with different stats, which honestly I think would be a waste of time and effort. It'd be a lot of work and for something that isn't all that important. It's extremely unlikely we would ever buff the existing wings since as Seraphine said, that's essentially giving someone a brand new free item that's better than what they had before. As servers grow, things change: old items become useless when new, better items are created. We can however add a couple of new wings that are better than the old ones, but I personally am strongly against buffing the existing wings.

Assuming it hasn't been reset before, it'd be over 4 years old. /swt I think this would be a good idea though and I'm all in favor of it.

Make sure to get all of your entries in by tomorrow! The contest ends tomorrow at 10:00pm EST. Awesome screenshots so far, we're going to have a tough time picking the winners! (:

Hi, Snowfall! Welcome to ForsakenRO. If you have any questions or need any help, feel free to ask me or any of the GMs. We're easy to get in touch with, especially on the forums and MSN. There will usually be a GM on in game at the support center (prt_vilg00) or at least available through @request. I'd also recommend checking out the guide for new players in the wiki, it has a lot of helpful information. Happy playing! (:

Bidding closes on August 19, 2011 at 6:00 PM Rules 1) The bidding will start at 1500 tokens. 2) Your bid has to have a minimum increase of 100 tokens. 3) If two people bid the same amount at the same time, the one who posts first will be given the bid. 4) If your first bid is within the last hour of the bidding, it will not count. 5) You are not allowed to have your storage open in your screenshots, just your inventory with the amount of tokens you're bidding. For your post, please provide the following: 1) The guild you are bidding for. 2) Your character's name (the guild leader). 3) A screenshot taken during the period of bidding of your bid that proves you have whatever amount you have chosen. Please keep this topic only for bidding. You can PM any questions you have to a GM. Anything posted here that is not a bid will be deleted for the sake of keeping the topic clear. Note: Badges of Honor are no longer accepted. Please take note of the change to the minimum bid increase. Now, let the bidding begin!

What buffs would you suggest this NPC has? Also, just to clarify, when you say they have the totem, this would only allow them to be buffed by the NPC, right? As in, they would still have to go and talk to the NPC each time?

Killing new players is hurting the server because it prevents the server from growing. I apologize though, I didn't mean to attack you specifically for that, just what you said is upsetting. We're doing everything we can on our end to improve the server and help it grow, but unless the community changes their attitude towards new players, all of our work is for nothing. Right now we're trying to prioritize new players this update because a majority of our updates are/have been focused on older, geared players. However, we're also working on things for old players to enjoy (new storyline, WoE 2.0, battlegrounds, and a lot more that I don't want to spoil). I made a topic geared towards older players as well (The "How to keep the server interesting" topic was intended for this. However, sadly, not many people have taken advantage of this opportunity.) We care about all of our players, new and old. Instead of saying how there's nothing to do, why not try to come up with new things we can add to entertain our older players? That would be very helpful and make it easier for us to add things for older players, too. (:

It's fine, we just prefer it if the screenshot is as clean and nice looking as possible.

You shouldn't be killing new players, it's lame. They have little to no gears, they pose no challenge, you're just being a jerk if you kill them. It's people that do this that are hurting the server because you pick on new people and cause them to quit, making it impossible for the server to grow. Is it really that hard to be nice? Anyway, next update we're going to be doing something about this that will put an end to it hopefully. (:

Welcome to the server! If you have any questions or need any help, feel free to ask me or any other GMs. We're always more than happy to help. Also, I'd recommend checking out the beginner guide on the Wikipedia, it contains a lot of helpful information on starting out here. Good luck and happy playing! (:

Update: More events need to be held during the day, they shouldn't all be in the morning or at night. Try to space events out during the day as much as possible so as many players can participate and stay entertained. Also, quite a few GMs haven't been hosting enough events or going on their GMs enough. We see a lot of you on your legits 99% of the time. You NEED to go on your GM more often and host events whether you are an old or new GM, that is what your job is. This is a warning before I start pulling you each aside individually and giving you a strike, so please don't make me have to do that.

Just some important reminders, since there have been some issues with some of these things lately... 1. In the ticket system, if you're not 100% positive about the correct action to take in a case, please consult a higher level GM before posting. There's been some issues with contradictions lately which makes us look bad, but unfortunately are unavoidable when there isn't communication between the staff. So, lets try to be better about this. 2. Unless someone is (a) explicitly flaming another player/guild/race/religion/group of people/etc. (b) criticizing/attacking/threatening the server © advertising another server (d) broadcasting untrue information (e.g., 'The server's closing tomorrow!' and things of that nature) (e) tricking/baiting newer or ungeared players to come to PvP, do not punish them without first consulting a higher level GM. 3. You need to be mindful of your behavior on GM at all times and act professionally, ESPECIALLY when speaking in public chat. Racist nicknames or remarks are not acceptable, even if you're joking among your friends or other GMs. This applies whether or not anyone else is on the map other than GMs/your friends, etc. Simply put, it's not acceptable under any circumstances. You become a liability to the server when you behave inappropriately on your GM. 4. Everyone should also try to go on their GM emails more whenever you're online. I don't see a lot of you on very often, so please try to be better about this. 5. Update: More events need to be held during the day, they shouldn't all be in the morning or at night. Could you please file a ticket here with this information as well as what your account name and email are? One of the administrators will then look into this issue and we'll try our best to help you. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Yes, you are free to do whatever you'd like so long as it involves a "fashionable" character/sprite that is visually appealing.
