The technological/biological mixture was due to the human infringement into a completely natural environment. There was a plot by definition, even if you feel it's been recycled.
Anyways...you're a bunch of downers, I swear. Some of you making assumptions before even seeing it. Why is it that out of all the Avatar fans I see blogging and talking about it I get stuck with the negative nog heads?
I saw it earlier and it was super, fantastic, amazing. If you can point me to one movie that is completely novel then go ahead, because you're complaining about the movie being unoriginal in its plot when the rest of the movies being pumped out are 100 times less original than Avarar. Well 'scuse me...picky picky, but the entire artistry of the entire movie was new. The way it was filmed was new. And it is the second highest grossing film, exceeded only by the Titanic, which Cameron also directed.
I was on the verge of tears for practically 1/3 of the movie, a lot of the time for the music combined with the sheer beauty of everything. My eyes moved across the screen like crazy to catch every detail. And for 180 minutes I was in another world. Perhaps some people don't like it because it shows how truly disconnected humans are to the nature around us, and how eager we are to earn a buck at the cost of millions of years of evolution and natural balance.
Well, I give this movie 5 stars
The art and all its containing ideas, concepts and sets were vibrant, painfully beautiful, and expertly executed. One can recognize certain traits that the ecosystem of Pandora shares with Earth; such as the threat display of the charging hammerhead beast, the large plants which pop into the ground upon being touched, and the seedlings from the Tree of Souls which float around like dandelions. Of course because it's so tropical everything there is so much larger, including the natives. On that note, the Na'vi were so simple, yet effective. Their culture can be said to resemble the Mayans mixed with Voodoo flare, but their garments and their language are one of a kinds. I'll add here that Neytiri was a spectacular character, in fact she made the movie in many respects with her overly emotional but mischievous ways. Romance was handled very tastefully, and by God they didn't' hide the asses or the nipples! (A+) I was able to predict many things as well, but for this movie no enjoyment was lost because of it. I could go on and on about Avatar, but I'll finish by saying how some of the best scenes were the dragon's flights. I wish we had a flying animal big enough to carry us :P
