  1. Skoll/Hollow for your sniper's SP nines. You waste so many yggs burning through that tiny bit of SP with 2x FBH 2x Skolls. So many people complain about SP rates with 2x FBH but never try a hollow/skoll hollow/ray combination! And as for the anti arrow thing. That's legit guys. You come at my LK with a bow and I'm going to anti-arrow/blue ifrit ring combo for assump then just ride up on you with 2 anti arrow rings while still spiral spaming the mess out of you. Anti-arrow/blue ring also can pop off tarots so coma is an option over time. What's that strategery??!!? Snipers are fine how they are I think. Yes being hit with massive FAS slash damage from two maps away sucks (especially if they're gospelled), but just because a class is capable of owning people doesn't mean it's necessarily OP. You just have to rethink your strategy for taking on snipers.

  7. Whats with all the spoon feeding suggestions? Geeze guys...

  8. All I'm getting out of this break rule is that people want ladder to be easier for them. As Somdara has said: The ladder is supposed to be competitive. It is a right of passage for pvpers. You develop your pvp skills with a given class. Make friends and (or) join a guild with high pvp abilities to help you. Then you put your hard work to the test by devoting a week to competing others for a great prize (PvP prizes). The point of ladder is for players to fight each other competitively for prizes. Here are the latest 10 first place ladder winners: Week 126 (11/19/2010) to (11/26/2010) #1: Mtw-Champion Week 127 (11/26/10) to (12/3/10) #1: HerLove Week 128 (12/3/10) to (12/10/10) #1: Shikaku Week 129 (12/10/10) to (12/17/10) #1: Xtopher Week 130 (12/17/10) to (12/24/10) #1: -Emissary Week 131 (12/24/10) to (12/31/10) #1: Xtopher Week 132 (12/31/10) to (01/07/11) #1: Nitro Week 133 (01/07/11) to (01/14/11) #1: Nocturne. Week 134 (01/14/11) to (01/21/11) #1: HerLove Week 135 (01/21/11) to (01/28/11) #1: G|ow Week 136 (01/28/11) to (02/04/11) #1: Drakko As far as I can see only HerLove and I have placed first twice within the last 10 weeks (HerLove having a 6 week break inbetween). I laddered twice because I had nothing else to do over winter break. I don't think there is a problem here with someone monopolizing ladder. I think people just want to make competition easier for themselves by restricting possible competitors... which in my opinion ruins the point of PvP ladder. I've noticed a lot of suggestions lately have just been people wanting things spoon fed to them and it is really getting frustrating, but that's a topic for a different discussion.

  10. I disagree with the first suggestion. It's not other peoples fault that you have high ping so why should they be banned from ladder because of it? Also, the ladder is a great way for semi-geared people to make money if they have friends to support them. Jet and I are decent examples of this. People who ladder back-to-back or multiple times in a month are probably on some sort of holiday or break and are taking advantage of that free time. I don't like the idea of temporarily banning someone for winning... It kind of takes the fun out of it. I suggested a 1v1 room a long time ago and I don't think it got accepted. I'm still in favor of it though as long as it's just a separate pvp room for 1v1 fights.
  11. There's no such thing as over priced. If people sell items at a premium and others still buy them then it's an acceptable market price. If they weren't worth it people wouldn't pay for it. But putting another pair of wings per week into the market would definitely drop the value of the items that people have worked hard to earn or buy. ND PvP doesn't require more skill it requires a different type of skill. Like I said, our server is item based and a lot of our better items are brought in through donations. None donation ladder prizes shouldn't be the same as normal ladder when that's not what our server strives for.
  12. When someone cheats they have a internal cost and benefit analysis. They know what they are doing is wrong and they know how much time is spent on ladder. They weigh the cost of cheating if caught and the benefits if they aren't caught. They devalue ladder, ladder prizes, pvp, and the server as a whole. I don't think slight offenses like broadcast abuse are really the same as ladder cheating. A BC abuse enters your chat and leaves your mind after a few minutes/seconds. Sure, some BC abuse is hurtful and offensive but it's still not the same. People cheating in ladder can make someone else's entire weeks work worthless. This isn't an offense you commit for fun or in a small fit of anger like BC abuse, spamming, and flaming. This is something you plan out. However, people shouldn't be banned unless the GM team/administration is certain that they cheated purposefully (not being framed). Innocent until proven guilty, but once you're proven guilty I don't think you deserve a second chance. A lot of people only ladder every few months or so anyway so banning them for a few months seems useless to me.
  13. I'll be innactive for a while. Have fun everyone.

  14. I'm in favor of permanent bans from ladder. No one likes cheaters. They don't deserve a prize and they certainty don't deserve a second chance.

    Ganging.

    People get intense in gang fights. I don't usually talk crap unless I can pull one of them into a 1v1 then stomp them. I take pride in being able to tank 5 different classes at once while still dropping most of them. You can call me what ever you want after I'm dead but if I've killed 50-90% of your group before dieing its apparent who the noobs are. Come at me bro!
  16. I agree with both but I like Somdara's rates better. .5% for slotted and 1% for none slotted. As mentioned, neither of these weapons are anywhere as useful as the actual thana card so there's no reason for them to be the same drop rate in my opinion.
  17. When I go hocus pocusing I have an alt account prof to dispel/mind break me or as Somdara said I eat a poison bottle :P. The thought of a specific mvp spawning map does intrigue me though...

  20. No. You do not do exactly the same. None donation laddering and kills are far easier and are not a true test of ones pvp abilities on this server. Our server is very item based and pvp often comes down to who has more or better items. I'm not saying this is right or wrong but it's how it works. More people go to normal pvp and you would have far greater competition in normal pvp than donation pvp. Lastly, if they had the same prizes the market prices of all pvp ladder items would drop. Instead of releasing one new item a week into the market you would be releasing two and they would be easier to get. Supply goes up, demand goes down, price goes down.

    Lasting Endow

    I disagree. It's advantageous yes, but it also has it's disadvantages. 1. Usually to kill my Endow effect and set my weapon back to neutral (yes, this is necessary sometimes) I switch my weapons back and forth. This is especially useful in WoE when a Priest casts aspersio on breakers. The breaker can just file through his weapons to switch it back to neutral. If endow lasted across weapon switching then you would have to wait until the endow died to get your neutral element back. 2. When you endow your weapon you select a specific element to it and your enemy (if hes a good pvper) will probably file through some elemental resistant armors to try and resist you. This is a huge deal in pvp strategy because a lot of the time you'll have to constantly change the element of your weapon. Endows aren't overlapped by a second elemental endow. For example: If I use a fire scroll then I need to switch to water I have to change weapon or remove my weapon to kill the fire enchantment because using the water one will not replace the fire. If endows didn't go away with weapon switching you would have to un-equip your weapon and re-equip it mid battle (very dangerous and time consuming). 3. This also would hurt the market for elemental verters (diminishing another way for new people to make money). 4. Is it really necessary? I don't think so.

    @whogm

    While this would be great for seeing if a GM is on when you need help it is also abusable. Example: Let's say I cheat at ladder and I know that the only place I can get kills now is the pvp room. Normally I would be very cautious when cheating and probably do it quickly and not draw attention to myself but I would still be easy to catch if a GMs on. However, if I had a command that told me if gms are on or offline I could just do a @whogm and if there aren't any online I can just start feeding in pvp with an alt account outside pvp to keep refreshing @whogm. When a GM logs in I could just leave pvp having fed a bunch of kills. We currently have a map if we need to find GMs, and theres still @request.
  23. ^ Exactly what I thought... haha. Welcome to the server though! A boxer huh? Cool. Maybe we can share some work out routines. All my ingame names are Xtopher. If you see me say hello :P

    Leveling - Mvp

    Why bother boosting it when MVPs are so rare and you can just go to for_ fild06 and kill normal monsters? I mean, I'm not against the idea... But is it really that necessary? Most people that MVP are lvl 255 anyway. I guess it could help with job levels.
  25. Xtopher

    @whodrops

    Yes it existed before but people wanted more quests so they were added. Now we are getting nice quests with custom item drops required and people are STILL complaining. From what I can tell the administration is trying to make the server more friendly for new people with things like quests YET at the same time keeping them slightly difficult by not handing you all the information on a silver plater. If you want to know if some abstract iro item is in fro then use ratemyserver to find the drop monsters then @mi ingame to see if they drop it.
