NewbieForNow Posted April 29, 2014 Report Posted April 29, 2014 (edited) Why can't we Vend in towns?, It's disabled because of the people randomly vending everywhere?, because it's messy? Market Place now is very messy as well. Why can't we just have a specific place on a map where only specific items can be sold. for example: "Market Place Map" EAST Side: Everyone is only selling Cards North Side: Everyone is only selling Quest items (Put all same items in one place) West Side: Weapons etc. In this way we can prevent the economy from being pulled down hill (this will make everyone sell items in the same price or you can easily compare). Can the Gm's look on to this? and it will be more efficient if every vendor can vend in town with specific locations for different items assigned by the GM's Note: I know this will take some time because it will take discipline. I hope the GM's will make this happen. :th_no1: Edited April 29, 2014 by NewbieForNow
qperteplex Posted April 29, 2014 Report Posted April 29, 2014 AFAIK vending in towns was removed as it is indeed making towns or what guilds tend to make them their guild bases messy In reality, players tend to place all the items they are selling in 1 vend pub. Its too much of a hassle to create multiple accounts and segregate them in each area you are asking. I mean, if I vended a quest item, a couple of cards and some gears, should I create 3 accounts to vend all of those in 3 separate locations? Also it can be 4 accounts as I have my main that I need to be on. My PC aint that great to handle multiple processes at once. Maybe even other players are also in the same scenario as I am. Yes, the vending place is messy but its not the fault of the area but the players rather. As they just tend to vend anywhere they want to. They would just vend in any spot and once they put up their vend they usually block the vends of other players. Now add more of those inconsiderate vendors then you make the vending area really messy.
NewbieForNow Posted April 29, 2014 Author Report Posted April 29, 2014 That's why i'm asking for some order in the market place. Your problem is your pc having low processing power?, There are a lot of ways to counter your problem. You can Google your problem and can find solutions and I'm sure you will find some.
qperteplex Posted April 29, 2014 Report Posted April 29, 2014 Dont tell me about PC spes as I have already gone through that. 2gb of RAM cant handle 3-4 clients as well as my common apps that are open like multiple browser tabs. Its not a matter of adjusting software side but you would need actual hardware components as well. Take note as I have said, I MAY not be the only one with this hindrance. I graduated IT so I have abit of an idea on tweaking my PC but what about the other players who studied a NON-COMPUTER based course. You think they would have on idea on what they are dealing with? And if you have noticed in this forum, people tend to post multiple times rather than actually search in the forum usually regarding guides. So if you asks someone on fRO to look through the forums or google them up, do you think they would? No, as they would go to someone ingame and ask for straight answers or post another reptitive post asking for something when it has been stated more than once. With what I have said its a matter of discipline for the player if you want order to be achieved ingame and to what your post is implying, in the market place.
NewbieForNow Posted April 29, 2014 Author Report Posted April 29, 2014 (edited) ha?, why are you talking about hardware?. can't you think out of the box? :th_e15: i don't want to say this here but for your sake FYI there are a lot of 3rd party software there that allows you "to vend and only to vend" without opening a client. you're an IT right?, you should know that, and i should expect that you can make your own software for that. I told you to use google. your problem is solved right?. now let's wait for the GM's for this. :th_no1: Edited April 29, 2014 by NewbieForNow
Rayray Posted April 29, 2014 Report Posted April 29, 2014 ha?, why are you talking about hardware?. can't you think out of the box? :th_e15: i don't want to say this here but for your sake FYI there are a lot of 3rd party software there that allows you "to vend and only to vend" without opening a client. you're an IT right?, you should know that, and i should expect that you can make your own software for that. I told you to use google. your problem is solved right?. now let's wait for the GM's for this. :th_no1: Any GM that feels to correct me regarding my statement, please do so. As far as I know, any 3rd Party software that is not endorsed by fRO is basically illegal. This does not limit to botting software, but to almost anything. The only ones that I know that are not banned here are macros that came with gaming gear. Everything else, in my memory, are not allowed. So your suggestion to qperteplex is not gonna work. The messiness of the market place is indeed the players' fault. We cannot expect a GM to check the market place and warn everyone that is not in the correct place(if we take your suggestion). With that said, it should start with the players. There are a lot of unspoken and unoffical rules in fRO that everyone follows. If someone starts a trend that they will only sell this items on a specific place, everyone else will follow soon enough. Off topic though: Just because he said he graduated IT, that does not mean he can "make his own software" for that specific problem. I find this really absurd that people think that everyone who graduated IT can write software out of anything. Information Technology is a broad topic, and have several branches you can specialize in. You can't tell a network engineer to write an AI, nor can you tell a web developer to make a project using Robotics.

As the previous post already implied that there are unspoken rules and one of which is 3rd party programs are illegal. And you didnt even respond to my previous question. You think just anybody would tweak around with their computer? Whether it be hardware or software would they risk it? Ive heard of cases about remote clients installed on players PC then get hacked in the process. You think a NON-IT person would know such? Off topic: Ray also said it as well. Yes, Im not an all around IT guy. IT basically falls into 3 specific fields: software, hardware, networking. Not all of them has an idea nor an interest in coding. You're just stereotyping IT grads thinking that "Hey this guy graduated IT he can code stuff." IT has different professions not all of them are interested in coding. Get your facts straight.
Forum~ Posted April 29, 2014 Report Posted April 29, 2014 This topic derailed rather quickly. I can't see how dividing merchants by their merchandise will be enforced in any efficient way.
NewbieForNow Posted April 29, 2014 Author Report Posted April 29, 2014 I want to read GM's opinions here. You think just anybody would tweak around with their computer? - This is the attitude of old folks right?, if you want something you'll study things about it and will definitely have some good result. If you want something, there is always a way. If you don't want something, you'll always find an excuse. :th_e5: Yep you are right about "If someone starts a trend that they will only sell this items on a specific place, everyone else will follow soon enough." who else will take as step aside from the GMs? I want to read GM's opinion here. OFF TOPIC: so that's how you people works (the two people opposing this subject)?, when they see a mess they will leave it like that?, when you say you're on specific field you can't figure out what's happening in the other filed? :th_ok: . very far mindsets from the IT people i know.
qperteplex Posted April 29, 2014 Report Posted April 29, 2014 No, point talking to this kid. I got stuff more to say about how you responded but most likely you wont listen. LOL BTW this is a suggestion thread. Opinions of players play a role here as well hence the "+1 or -1". If you just wanted the input of GMs and to not get your suggestion get criticized you should've PM'd it to a GM. 1

Please read what I wrote before you claim I oppose the separation of the market place. This cannot start with the GM team, there is no way to police the marketplace besides stationing a GM in there, and we all know they have their own jobs/lives. It should start with the players making their rules regarding the marketplace. A lot of things in game started with the players, not the GMs. Leeching for a fee, and giving salaries during for WoE started with the players. You will not see a rule regarding it that was stated by a GM. The GM team normally do not get in the way of the gameplay nor the economy. Again, on the off topic regarding IT: There is specialization regarding fields for a reason. Sure, anyone in the IT field can code, but would you give a programming job to someone who does not specialize in it? I for one will not get a programming project that involves games since I devoted myself on web development. Sure, I can learn and make them, but that would need time, and it would have wasted a lot of money when you could have just hired a game developer. It's not about being close minded, it's about being practical. I'll give an example on how I work. I code the backend of a web application(Databases, Authentication, Business Logic, Integration Tests etc.), and I have partner who does the the frontend(HAML,CSS, a bit of JavaScript, AJAX, CoffeeScript etc). I can do what she does but she is so much better at it, and vice versa. If for some reason I decide to just do the project alone and do everything, I would have to devote a few weeks on just the frontend, while she would have done it in a few days. It would take much longer to do since I have to focus on two things, instead of doing one. If I take your argument regarding this, would you take medical advice from a Dentist regarding heart problems? They both are medical professionals. Edited April 30, 2014 by Rayray
markadik21 Posted April 30, 2014 Report Posted April 30, 2014 Just work hard and play hard.. its so easy... to understand. Of Market... if we need to do this we need many alt that's hard...
exe_calibur Posted April 30, 2014 Report Posted April 30, 2014 There's still much room in the Market everyone just chooses to crowd the warp entrance. Which doesn't make sense because if I was a buyer and I was serious aka a smart shopper, id look through every shop to see if I can get anything even a bit cheaper. Like in actual markets the best deals can come from the back even if the most "fresh" items are near the entrance.
jameslamela Posted May 1, 2014 Report Posted May 1, 2014 most pc nowadays can only handle dual clients... they will experience lag if they run 3 clients and their computer will get really sticky when they run 4. my opinion to your post is, it is quite impossible since players needs morethan 1 acct. for vending their multiple variety of stuffs. sorry but i have to disagree... im a computer technician (hardware is my specialty) and i symphatize on tran's point of view.
ReggaeBear Posted May 1, 2014 Report Posted May 1, 2014 (edited) I did IT (Software Engineering). I specialise in game design and hardware. Not even my ownstuff.uter can run more than four clients and it's equipped with the latest stuff. You think just anybody would tweak around with their computer? This is the attitude of old folks right?, if you want something you'll study things about it and will definitely have some good result. That is ridiculous. It's not as easy as you think to put things in a computer. Edited May 1, 2014 by ReggaeBear
