hazbird123 Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 Most of my gearing up was done thru hocus pocus summoning, as well as many fun times with group summoning. Please bring summoning back. I know alot of new players that have 1 or 2 mvp cards and only have those thanks to summoning. Normal mvp hunting is ok but the mvp rooms are not practical in my opinion

It's impossible for us to monitor everyone who is using it, so that just isn't an option, I'm sorry. :( Yes, the reason why the MvP room is somewhat expensive and has a lower drop rate is to prevent it from flooding the economy with tons o' MvP cards. That would NOT be good for anyone and would seriously mess up the economy and frankly could also hurt new players and non-donators. It just provides another avenue of getting the cards when all of the MvPs are being camped by better geared players. So it's removed forever? :[
Rayray Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 i'm not talking about suggestions for server side changes i'm taking about suggestions to help catch people using programs. which mind you i was hired on 3 different servers to do. now then as i was saying, the suggestions i have made were ignored by the GM's on changes they themselves can make but simply refuse to make them. for example, there's a professor in for_fild01 who uses a sprite edit (spamming 15+ heavens drive without any delay whatsoever is a given sprite edit). i have informed the GM's and nothing has been done. simple things like this just go to show the extent (from what i have seen on this server) the GM's care as to people who use the hacks. from my interpretation of this i see them using the sprite hack bans and third party program bans for their own use and not as a general rule. correct me if i'm wrong but Drax was banned 3 times before he managed to get a mac ban, because he was a heavy donator, there are several others who have been allowed to slide past the rules because they donate a ton of money to the server. doesn't seem fair to me, does anyone else see that as fair? On the prof you reported, did you post a ticket for it with sufficient evidence or you just told a GM someone is sprite editing? Because we seem to have different experiences, all the other ones I actually reported that had evidence were banned. No GM would actually ban someone just because someone said they are cheating, but didn't provide any type of proof but their words. On the Drax issue, isn't it that his accounts were banned due to different reasons? the last time he was banned (and the lasting one) was the one where someone reported him in. GMs cannot be online 24/7, they will not be able to see everyone that cheats unless someone actually catches and reports them. The players have to do their part, and not just blame the GM team for not banning someone. It has been like this, everyone will be like "he uses sprite edit" but they themselves do not report. On your suggestions to help catch people using programs, could you care to enlighten me? I haven't seen them so I cannot comment on why they were not accepted as you say.
zergling Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 your entire argument can be rectified simply by hiring police GM's. all they do is handle reports of illegal activities (they will be very busy from what i have seen on this server). who knows these GM's could just do 15 minute sweeps on the heavy bot maps, the reported program abusers, ohh yea and just maybe on the maps it's common for people to be using programs with hocus pocus. ohh yes it's a horrible idea because it means the staff will have to hire some new people. just maybe if they hired new people just for this there might not be so many people using sprite edits, auto hotkey, and nodelay. this suggestion is crazy right? i mean who in their right mind would want to hire 1-2 new people to put an end to the program use?

And again you did evade my question to make you look good. My question is, do you report them correctly in the ticket system? GMs do not get paid here, and yet they do their jobs. just because you don't see any GM doing event doesn't mean that they are not there. I believe all GMs can handle things in the ticket system, not just veracity and genesis. So if people actually report things that they see with proper proofs we wouldn't be talking about this now would we? GMs are players too, they play to have fun in the server, and you expect them to check every issue you want that NO ONE reported? Isn't that a waste of time? That is like calling the police to open a jar. Honestly, it would be easy if you guys report, and not just blame the GM team for something that happened that you could have prevented. You keep talking of people using sprite edits and such, but do you report them or just rant around in for_fild or anywhere where people would listen?

Do you know killing MVP is fun for new player? Honestly people will annoying if they can't even search a mvp for few hour and it might just make them leave the server. I hope you reconsider just decrease the dropping rate on Hocus Pocus MVP. it will more FUN :D (Anyway i don use hocus pocus because i am rich enough but just giving suggestion to gain more new player in FRO!)

We said we removed it temporarily while we are addressing the issues with it so it wouldn't be abused while we are looking for a fix. Trust me, it would lead to more problems if we enable it now and some people know the exploit within that skill.
zergling Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 regarding the exploit in the skill, it's just a program, and as such the moment you see it the person can be banned. regarding the player reports, when i tell a GM that's online exactly who is using programs and nothing is done just goes to show the individual GM's willingness to help the server. for instance i have found thana bots, reported thana bots to an online GM, gave the GM the next thana spawn, GM said they would be there to monitor it. never. showed. up. needless to say the thana bot is still around because the GM's don't really want to bother with the bots (from what i have seen and experienced here), which is exactly why this skill here is removed right now. GM's don't want to be bothered to actually go around and hunt for people they want it to simply be given to them which isn't their job. if the GM's made examples out of people instead of just sweeping everything under the carpet the server might be a little bit more wary about programs.

I do bot hunting on every map that were used for quests(the christmas quest, ring quest, gaunts quest etc) first thing whenever I go online. I do it so much that i rarely do events as most people have noticed. As some people have already mentioned, the best way to report is through the ticket system, so any GM can actually see and act on it. I am not defending whoever GM you talked to, but we all have commitments and he/she might have to do something else and wasn't able to check whatever you reported(seeing as thana spawns within 2 hours)

Your temporarily mean half year? or 1 year LOL. No offences here. I just wanna let you know ban HOCUS PUCUS is not the best way to solve the problem. Just reduce the dropping rate like 0.5% or up to you. Look so many people complaining about this and this problem only cause new player can't survive or else they have to donate? :D Come on think about that.

Been here since 2007, and I honestly never knew that Hocus Pocus summon mvp skill works in this server until i got all the cards I need. I MVPed around the time that not even me have Elite set, I do not really think it is impossible to check the map every few minutes for MVP nor was it impossible to buy cards from other players using tokens you got from selling seeds/berries/c.speeds. I understand that some of you don't have time to spend for that or just too lazy because I am too. Allowing Hocus Pocus even if there is something that can be abused shouldn't even be considered.

The idea behind the MvP Rooms was to allow an easy alternative. So you are right there. =] If anyone has suggestions regarding the MvP Rooms please let us know! Also, regarding the Drax comment someone made, Drax was banned once, when he was broadcasting pornographic sites over broadcaster. Doesn't matter how much you donate, if you break the rules you get banned. I'll do everything I can to make you understand why breaking the rules are wrong without a ban but if you don't listen you will be banned. Drax and cocaine are examples of this. As a side note, I am on my phone 24/7 (skype, msn yahoo, aim) but the proper medium is to file a ticket for any reports. Sometimes service can be dodgy.
