Rayray Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 I know they are in the archives but still. If possible, please put a class discussion subforum so that we are organized, instead of people asking on the general discussions.
Xtopher Posted August 15, 2012 Report Posted August 15, 2012 Agreed, maybe this should be a suggestion?
Rayray Posted August 15, 2012 Author Report Posted August 15, 2012 OH YEAH SORRY.. if any forum mods out there, can you please move this to suggestion?
Cookiezzzz Posted August 16, 2012 Report Posted August 16, 2012 Agreed, I look forward to writing some guides
Genesis Posted August 16, 2012 Report Posted August 16, 2012 The idea behind removing Class discussion was to make the forums smaller and easier to use. What I was thinking of doing though was when people create guides, merging them into one master guide for classes and then pinning it on the wiki.
Rayray Posted August 16, 2012 Author Report Posted August 16, 2012 The problem with that is all the guides that were written before were now lost in the archives. took me several minutes to find some of my references before(like kuoch's sniper guide). The reason I want a discussion board for the classes is.. discussion. people used to discuss regarding certain classes which helps everyone. The wiki shouldn't have character guides created by players imo. 1
thePast Posted August 16, 2012 Report Posted August 16, 2012 ^What he said, it'll be really useful someday. :)
Cookiezzzz Posted August 20, 2012 Report Posted August 20, 2012 Some guides are also outdated as well.
Rayray Posted August 20, 2012 Author Report Posted August 20, 2012 Outdated because of the valk weapons and capes and such? not really that much in my opinion.
Cookiezzzz Posted August 20, 2012 Report Posted August 20, 2012 Some, like the old sniper one (before sniper SB).
Rayray Posted August 21, 2012 Author Report Posted August 21, 2012 It isn't as outdated, I still use it as references. the only thing that changed in most snipers game is the skill they use nowadays(from DS to FAS), that's about it. and of course the fact that they have shields now.
Cookiezzzz Posted August 22, 2012 Report Posted August 22, 2012 Yes, and a few other things as well. I would also love to write a guide or two.
Rayray Posted August 22, 2012 Author Report Posted August 22, 2012 I would love to write a guide on battle profs since almost everyone is a bolter now. again, I still find it better if we had a class discussion sub forum
Cookiezzzz Posted August 23, 2012 Report Posted August 23, 2012 I agree as well, I feel like we are talking to each other.....
Levis Posted August 23, 2012 Report Posted August 23, 2012 The idea behind removing Class discussion was to make the forums smaller and easier to use. What I was thinking of doing though was when people create guides, merging them into one master guide for classes and then pinning it on the wiki. Our server changes daily, and we have a lot of custom items, and the problem behind your idea is, that we will always have different opinions about the builds, hence you won't get any consense in order to create one master guide. For example for Snipers: There are people using Luk in order to have higher Crit, to strengthen their FAS dmg, or regularly just with Dex, and people will always argue in favor and against one of these, so the only way would be to make alternative builds as 'master guides', if that's what you mean, then I can agree to that.
Celestial Posted August 24, 2012 Report Posted August 24, 2012 (edited) I'd give a suggestion here, however I'm not sure how would it work and even if it would work out. Wiki is the section I work under, and I'd gladly add class builds into there, but that would mean that there's a lot of work to do and a lot of help needed. I'd say, get back the forum for Class Builds and Discussions about RO classes, and the few of the very well made guides would be moved to Wiki, so that everything would be in one place, when people are seeking for quick guide for a class - I won't forget to give a credit, so no worries about that :). P.S. If you find anything outdated in Wiki, please drop me a PM and tell me where the error is so I can correct it as fast as possible :)! I might lurk around Wikipedia a lot, but even my eye sometimes doesn't catch everything, your help is always appreciated <3 Edited August 24, 2012 by Celestial
Rayray Posted August 25, 2012 Author Report Posted August 25, 2012 I agree with Celestial. if we made guides and the community have positive feedback on it, that's the time it should be moved to the wiki.
coffee break Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 Can the archives be organized? I'm tired searching and read one by one...
Veracity Posted December 13, 2012 Report Posted December 13, 2012 I am thinking of doing a guide making event where people make PvP/MvP guides for different classes and the best ones will receive a reward and become part of the wiki or whatnot. :) I'll discuss it with Genesis and if he agrees I'll announce it soon! Thanks for your suggestion.
