Paladin equips are really expensive for a new player. 2. Paladin is a support class, not really a killer (however your defence kills :biggrin: ). 3. Dont make a paladin unless you fully understand the game mechanics. The key to win is to put on Right gears, so u need to know what exactly is needed in current situation. 1. Pros and Cons + Paladins are always welcome to any guild and Ladder party. You are in great demand :cool: + Very high survivability + Reflecting - is the best way to kill :devil: - The only one strong attack - Matyrs Reckoning is melee range and neutral property, so it is easily countered. - While devotion, Paladin is the one who eats all the berries and dies first anyway. - You can not normally kill people unless they attack you. Its really annoying sometimes. 2. Useful skills I dont insert the exact skill descriptions, as you can always read them on RMS for instance. Just some comments. 1. Matyrs Reckoning. Your primary attack. Dont use it if you deal low damage on your target. Save your yggs. 2. Gloria Domini. Annoys people and reduces asura damage per second greatly if gloria is spammed on one target. 3. Magnum Break . Pushes out of cloaking status and gives +hit for a duration. 4. Guard. Enchances your survivability. Recommended during devotion. 5. Shield Reflect. 40% damage reflect is always good. 6. Defending aura. Must have when facing ranged damage dealers (clowns, snipers), however it decreases your movement speed, so use it wisely. 7. Devotion. The most valuable pally skill. Makes all the damage dealt to your devoted party member damage you instead. Your high HP and good Ygg eating style saves lives. 8. Battle chant. Very nice in WoE. Just devo people and BC some area. Champs gonna love you. 9. Shrink. Turn it on to keep attackers away from you. 10. Shield chain. Spam it to damage lock the target. also its good for freezing people on distance. 11. Endure. Good when you need to move while being attacked. Also adds 10Mdef on lvl 10 :biggrin: 12. Provoke. Use it to amplify your enemys damage to reflect-kill them. 3. Stats dex 150 totall agi to 195 aspd with 1hPally spear vit 300 (28x vit if you are going to devo) int - enough to use Matyr + all the shield buffs while wearing the 2xFBH boots. str - everything that is left. Instant cast is needed to spam Glorias and to devote people fast. 195 aspd to be able to coma and burst Matyrs. 300 vit to be able to devo and to maximize Matyr damage. This much int - to save some berries :biggrin: And all that left is needed in Str to carry Equips and Berries. 4. Gears Headgears: GVH / Fhelm + 2kiel GVH / Fhelm + Mayap and Fsold Best aura you can get (EMP, Zod, ROP etc.) RAW / Avian wings any 10% damage reduct wings (SWs, Fluffy wings) Scarf Ref Devi hat / Poring Hat Observer Sheep Hat FArmors: 2x OL GR + OL GR + Tao Tao + Tao Angeling + OL FBoots: 2x Dwiz or Dwiz+Firelock or 2xFirelocks (depends which one you like more :-) 2x FBHs 2x Am Muts FCloaks: 2xDevs; 2xRays; 2xSkolls +10 ValkCloaks: Dev; Ray; Skoll FShields: GTB; Usako Strong Shields: Maya; High orc; Usako; Alice Belts: 2x Vit belts. Weapons: 1hSpear + 2xTGen + 2xSkel Workers Edge Combat knife any weapon + VR+WS+Dwar+SK Comments: +10 gears are nice for pally, since you gonna reflect more on IP/thana users. I dont ever use RSX. Use Strong shields instead. Tao+OL is useless combination. use 2xOLs or 2xTaos. 5. How to use that Default following: GVH + Fsold and mayap Sacreds GR + Tao Fshield + usako 2x Skolls Dwiz boots Combat knife Explanation: No rays default as Champions dont full asura paladins if they are sane. Regear after they see that you have low reflect. Skolls just to make sure you dont get fast killed by random thana user. !! Always remember: !! Switch off guard when you are going to reflect. VS champions: Use GR+OL as primary armor and modify your damage with cloaks/shields and boots. If champ goes ultra low damage to survive try 2xOLs. If that still not works - then fast put on 2xTao+FBHs+DMG spear and Matyr him. Regear fast and count before you switch. Experience helps. VS sinx: 2xOLs default. Use AmMuts and Devs in cloak to make them kill themselves in 1 hit. Regear from low to high reflect as fast as you can and they wont be ready to that and will die due to insufficient YggSpam. VS LKs: Maximize reflect. I can make LKs kill themselves with 1 BB while i stay alive. VS any magic class: 2xDevs + Strong shield with maya + 2xTaos + 2xAmMuts. 1 cast that you reflect kills them. VS stalkers: Depends on what skill they copy. Just fcp and see other class tactics. VS clowns/Snipers/gypsies: Try to WS and Strip them and Matyr after. Not much you can do vs them if they fcp. Just put on Redux and fcp + DefAura. Wait till their fcp runs out or try to coma them. Spam gloria domini on them also to avoidrunning after them. VS Creators: Real pain. Get fcp and full redux. Spam them with gloria. Their bottles cost zeny and they eat more ygg while you spam with 4x kiels. Just wait creator to get tired. nothin esle you can do :-( VS Ninjas: Force them to use final strike to attack you (wear GTB and Def.Aura on) and Gloria domini them right after FS. Free kill. VS Whitesmiths: Not really many whitesmiths in FRo, so i lack tactics and i cant even remeber when i fought one last time (Maybe it was Enuo about uhm... months ago lol). However if you see WS you can be pretty sure he has thana or IP on, so default skolls and FCP at first. Since you can not reflect High speed cart ram damage, try to WS/Coma and Matyr them. Gears While devo: Find the most dangerous opponents that you are facingin pvp and put redux gear vs them. you must have at least 1 tao in armor. if noone attacks you, go to 2xTaos to save yggs but be always ready to switch. 6. Conclusion It is not a complete guide for a paladin but i think that it covers most of the aspects of gameplay. It is a beta guide, so post your remarks, suggestions and ideas. Ill be glad to improve this guide. Take off a bit for a lot of status points you could definitely save and put into other stats. It's not always about maximizing your HP that much. Pretty ok guide, of course there's much more to a Paladin though.

Well, about MatyrWeapon (2xTG+2xSW) first: if your foe uses GR, Matyr is pretty much useless, so civils wont do much. If no ghostring - then this weapon cuts as well as any other (and better then civils in this situation). about 300 vit: this is more PvP - orientated build. Use 29x or 28x vit even if you want to devo and woe or survive any way. This will allow you to carry more yggs and survive longer. However 300 vit has several pros that help in pvp: 1st : i had many situation when i killed with reflect and had less then 1k hp left. With 300vit. So, it helps. 2nd: 300 vit means you have a lot of def, so you reflect Thana/IP easier. 3rd: All the other stats are not so good for pally. If you mean Str option - then yes, go for it and become Devo Pally. Else i would simply recommend to use storage and restock ygg fast. Master it and you wont need that much str. All other stats are pretty useless as you just need 195 aspd and instant cast.

Anyways, I'd rather use 2 TG 2 CS or 2 TG 1 CS 1 Skel... Nice, simple guide. It will definitely help people trying to learn how to play Pally.

Maybe you are right, but add some explanation. Forum~, thanks. The idea was to make it useful for many people. And i believe that any guide should contain just general information and some tips for new users. Everyone should tune their own builds/gear according to the style they choose to play and no guide can replace personal experience of playing.

Rayray Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 300 Vit cuts way too much stat points that you could be putting on str to carry more yggs. your hp is no use if run out of berries. even if you master going to storage and getting yggs, chances are it will still be a millisecond late. and on clown/snipers strategy, strip is pretty much fail against them so your best bet is to break their stuff. you should also put up on how to combat WS.
Danny Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Lol Don't leave out the Rucksacks, although it may look like a disadvantage because of the reduction in speed. What makes up for it are the Bonus Stats + 1 Slot. I use 3 Orc Hero by Default ( this is for Devo Build Pallies ) For me, int is not even necessary or even worth to put points in it. And Firelock Cards are only good when your Boots is +10 which I will not recommend.
