Farlance Posted February 8, 2013 Report Posted February 8, 2013 (edited) Like the title says, I'm having a bit of a time. I've tried farming for things I need; Cards, gear, that sort of thing. I'm done with my knight/legendary weapon quests and working on a Frigg's Shield. My main issue is; Money. Or rather, tokens. Any MVPs that I need cards from are invariably farmed into oblivion. First (and last) time I managed to grab a Kiel, I was almost immediately KSed, which was disheartening. Farming ygg berries could work, but it'd take hundreds of thousands to even get a single piece of gear I could use, and I'm not quite sure I have that much patience. So basically; Any tips for a new player? And no, I can't donate; At the moment, I don't have the spare income to do so. Thanks in advance! Edit: I'm retarded and managed to make a typo in the post title. Durrhurr. Edited February 8, 2013 by Farlance Quote
supream Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 woe for a big guild, woe on your own, farm thana, sell runes. nothing comes fast here. Quote
Farlance Posted February 9, 2013 Author Report Posted February 9, 2013 ...WoE entails I have the gear to survive in any form of PVP. Thana entails I have the gear to kill it. These aren't suggestions for a newbie, I'm sorry to say. ._. Quote
supream Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 thana isnt hard to kill. if you did the legendary quest then you have the armor to do it. you dont really need a legendary weapon to kill thana. Quote
Forum~ Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 hocus pocus. easy to mvp and no one can legally ks you. even better with a group of professors (your friends). Quote
Adonis Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 thana is camped 24/7 by pro's and its not possible for a newb to get a thana without the correct gears Quote

These aren't suggestions for a newbie, I'm sorry to say. ._. not true. if you're somewhat geared (at least outwardly if you know what i mean), you can join any of the major guilds. most newbies use woe salary as a primary means of income in order to buy what they need. just play a more useful class that is available with your current funding that makes you desirable. Veracity Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 Really, you don't _need_ tokens since the legendary equipment is on par with the donation, and you can obtain the full vote forsaken king set via voting. So I'd recommend voting, and doing the other legendary equipment quests for the gauntlets, zodiac aurora, and wings/rucksacks. For MvP cards, using hocus pocus is a good way like someone had suggested. :) Also, guilds will take people with legendary/knight/vote forsaken king sets. You can also do the legendary quests to sell the gear for tokens so you can get tokens to buy MvP cards or whatnot. Quote
Rayray Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 (edited) do what veracity had said. if you want thana, and you see thana being camped, there are two things you can do 1. hocus pocus and hope for a thana. a knight set+ legendary bow with a card setup set for mvping(alice card on shield ,abysmal knight cards) works great, no need for you to get uber gears before trying to hunt thana. 2. if you were able to join a guild and they pay you salary, save the tokens, get event tokens and try to buy thana summon scroll. collect a few of these, and use them when floating rates are up so you have a better chance of getting thana Edited February 9, 2013 by ZerO25 Quote
Farlance Posted February 9, 2013 Author Report Posted February 9, 2013 @_@ Wow, thanks for all of the help. I'd like to join a guild, but I'm not sure which would be amenable to inviting a newbie -- I haven't played RO in over a decade, so I'm basically relearning everything from scratch. But again, thanks for all the suggestions! I'll try and do some of these things ASAP. @_@ Quote
Veracity Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 Remember the Forgotten is one of the more newbie friendly guilds, I believe. :) Quote
