HerLove Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 Has anyone else noticed that every so often you would get disconnected and would have to log in again? I know I have and its been going on for quite some time now. When it happens a lot of people get disconnected at once. It happened today in woe too and the entire alde castle emperium room was disconnected. I have been online extra long these days and I noticed it happens several times every day.
Ryuk Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 (edited) Could you give us an indication on how many times a day you get disconnected ? Because things like these can be caused by many different things. From server restarts, timeouts to bad hopping or DNS. Edited April 7, 2011 by Ryuk
HerLove Posted April 7, 2011 Author Report Posted April 7, 2011 It happens anywhere around 10-15 times a day. It doesnt just dc me alone it dcs like 30 people at a time and that time in woe the entire alde emp room was dc and that was around 70-80 people at the time.
Perishable Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 (edited) Yeah, I hate when this happens too. I got disconnected during WoE yesterday. Like we just randomly get disconnected. Edited April 7, 2011 by Perishable
Ryuk Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 (edited) If you really do D/C 10 to 15 times a day I can assure you the problem is on your side. These global D/C's happen very rarely and certainly not 10 to 15 times a day. It isn't the server unless everyone D/C's . My first guess would be difficulties at one of the closest hops to the server. As this happens to quite some people but not everyone at the same time I could imagine some people using a different route to the server. However, I'll contact the staff to see whether they know more about the sudden D/C's - / server status. PS. Did these D/C's start after the recent upgrade (April 1) or did they already occur before that ? Edited April 7, 2011 by Ryuk
HerLove Posted April 7, 2011 Author Report Posted April 7, 2011 Happened before and after the upgrade and the problem is not on my side as you say. I am with a group of people everyday and we all get dc and we are in different parts of the world south america north america canada germany asia etc so it is not me.
Ryuk Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 Being with a group of people doesn't mean that you don't use the same HoP to get to the server. As stated My first guess would be difficulties at one of the closest hops to the server. As this happens to quite some people but not everyone at the same time I could imagine some people using a different route to the server.

Its server side meaning players can do nothing about it hence the post about it!
Ryuk Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 (edited) Actually hops are mostly ISP related. Nothing the server can do about those. But I'll see if there's anything else that could possibly cause these disconnects. However I can't check this myself so I'll have to wait for Genesis. Edited April 7, 2011 by Ryuk
HerLove Posted April 7, 2011 Author Report Posted April 7, 2011 There are at least 25-30 (sometimes more) players being kicked off every time it disconnects. If it is because of our isps well that is just terrible and highly unlikely but hey its possible then again the more likely thing is that it is the one common server that we all play. I will wait to see what you find out.
Ryuk Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 25 to 30 people out of the 350 being online. It's quite unlikely that it is the actual game server cause it would kick pretty much everyone if that was the case not just a small group. Gotta wait for Genesis, he should be able to tell if any part of the server has been malfunctioning.
Leaz Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 i d/c like 5 times a day and im pretty sure it's not my internet because when i'm playing fro and other online games, only fro has the problem connecting.
Genesis Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 As Ryuk mentioned, the server itself is not kicking you. It does not discriminate, if it were to go down (which it hasn't for months) it would kick everyone on the server. Try doing a traceroute and posting it here. Here's a guide: http://www.mediacollege.com/internet/troubleshooter/traceroute.html

Centurion Posted April 8, 2011 Report Posted April 8, 2011 Yeah, I hate when this happens too. I got disconnected during WoE yesterday. Like we just randomly get disconnected.
HerLove Posted April 8, 2011 Author Report Posted April 8, 2011 Anyone else doing the tracert thing? I want to compare please someone!

Ryuk Posted April 8, 2011 Report Posted April 8, 2011 In order for the tracert to be useful, we need the adresses of the hops, Not just the hop times.

HerLove Posted April 9, 2011 Author Report Posted April 9, 2011 This disconnecting is still going on. Any insight as to why?
Ryuk Posted April 9, 2011 Report Posted April 9, 2011 I've had a char in town pretty much all day today, only once I saw several people D/Cing ( I didn't D/C once myself). This means it's definitely not the server. Also. When you D/C can you log back in right away or do you fail to connect a few times ?
Seraphine Posted April 9, 2011 Report Posted April 9, 2011 Yeah when i usually disconnect i fail to connect a few times.
HerLove Posted April 9, 2011 Author Report Posted April 9, 2011 For me its both. Sometimes I can log back in right away and sometimes it says my character is still online.
Ryuk Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 (edited) Hmm, try doing a tracert right after a DC and you might be able to see which hop is causing the problems. :o. Edited April 10, 2011 by Ryuk I forgot my color ;(
