Sevenfold. Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 Ok, this isn't for me this is for a friend of mine who is trying to start playing on this sever. Every time she opens up the patcher it just locks up and freezes and doesn't do anything or say anything its just a blank box I know internet explorer doesn't work on her computer (i don't know why i haven't looked into it) and that the patcher loads up an IE window with a "vote now" thing, haven't really payed to much attention to it but I'm wondering if its that that is causing it and if so, how would she stop the patcher trying to load up IE
Ryuk Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 That could very easily cause the freezing yes. Try pressing ctrl+alt+delete. Then run the patcher. At the task manager click on the Processes tab. In the list find iexplorer.exe and click on it, then click on end process. And see if the patcher runs normally. If not you can manually patch by downloading the files that I upload after each patch, then just run the game through the game client instead of the patcher.

Ryuk Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 When exactly does she get the DLL error ? And did she use our full installer ?

I already found the files on another site but as you can see in my 2nd post where I posted this her RO folder already has the DLL's what has confused me like hell to be quite honest
Ryuk Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 (edited) Of course Edu, everyone is allowed to help others. :) To make sure it's not server-file related we'll do a simple re-install. Delete your RO folder, and run the full installer again. After that follow the next step : FRO Halloween patch Steps to follow : 1 : Click on the above link. 2 : Download the file. 3 : Unpack it into your RO folder. Overwrite all if it asks you to. 4 : Run the client and try logging in. Also creating a mirror since megaupload has been quite buggy lately. Mediafire Mirror Let me know if this works for you or not. PS. The dll files should already be installed with our full installer. Edited November 10, 2010 by Ryuk
Sevenfold. Posted November 10, 2010 Author Report Posted November 10, 2010 Thanks, I will get her to try it tomorrow after school and see if she has any luck from there
Ryuk Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 Also when running the client/patcher make sure you're not blocking it in any way( Firewalls/ user restrictions etc ).
Sevenfold. Posted November 10, 2010 Author Report Posted November 10, 2010 She's done all that and still getting the same error as you can see, the dll's are in there but the game is still giving the error saying that there missing
Genesis Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?binkw32 Drag it to your RO folder, should fix it.
Sevenfold. Posted November 11, 2010 Author Report Posted November 11, 2010 http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?binkw32 Drag it to your RO folder, should fix it. As shown in the screen shot she already has binkw32.dll but is still getting the error, and she also has downloaded a zip file containing all of RO's dll's before but still gets the error. I will get her to try and download that dll but i don't think it will do anything to be quite honest
Ryuk Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Please let us know whether this worked for you or not.
Sevenfold. Posted November 12, 2010 Author Report Posted November 12, 2010 (edited) She's somehow managed to sort this problem or more like its sorted it self out, she tried again after she got back from school and it worked perfectly fine. I have no idea why because nothing has changed Never mind, it was working, it just killed it self again Edited November 12, 2010 by Sevenfold.
Sevenfold. Posted November 15, 2010 Author Report Posted November 15, 2010 Sorry to double post and bump but has been no reply to my last post She did get it working somehow she come back from school and it started up fine. She didn't change anything or do anything it instantly worked fine. She accentually closed the game, it give her an error so she used the other patcher and worked fine The next day she tried again and was back to giving error's no matter what patcher she tried or using the games exe Still not working and she's been trying all weekend with errors off the main game exe and the patcher's just not loading at all
Ryuk Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 (edited) Hearing this I still think it has to do with user permissions. Either way has she tried replacing the file again (with the link Genesis gave you) and see if it still wouldn't work ? If it still doesn't work after replacing it again, try the following solutions in the following order : 1: Re-install completely (Including re-downloading the full installer, your full install might be corrupt) 2: Copy the binkw32.dll file to your Windows/System folder. Edited November 15, 2010 by Ryuk
Sevenfold. Posted November 24, 2010 Author Report Posted November 24, 2010 Sorry for the late reply been away from the computer she's still getting the error
Ryuk Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 Run a malware scan on the computer. It's most likely malware corrupting the .dll files.
-R e i Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 I haven't read all the posts yet : -try installing it on another partition and then try again (If malware scan doesn't help) -run the client. -try checking the address of the patcher and the client... --------- Sorry if I can't help much. bad english :(
Sensation Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Try downloading the RAD Tools: http://www.radgametools.com/down/Bink/RADTools.exe The DLL that causes the error originally is used in the RO intro clip and wants to be loaded even when there is none. This tool should install the DLL in your system directory. If that's the case, go to C:/Windows/System and search for the DLL, then copy the binkw32.dll file to your Ragnarok directory. Reboot and try to run the game.
