Soulworld Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 Just a comment :P, new players seem to have a hard way because of this and even though competition its alright it seems like the ones in the very top are always looking for ways to make it harder for newbies... Namaste
Xtopher Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 I agree the server is kind of elitist, but the economy has moved in favor of newer players in the way that you can get most items for much cheaper now. Most newbies are doomed to either donate or spend hours upon hours farming. I wouldn't look for help from the best equipped/riches players.
Specter Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 Prices actually got a lot cheaper than before, but since there are so many good players around, newcomers are tempted to ask them for items, and if some rich guy gives them items, they will never go farm and they will beg forever. That's what i think.
Ethereal Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 Yup Yeah, we are. I think our ego's have become too big. </3
Nadtorious Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 Yes. I agree. Also I am starting to think that rich players are gettin' richer, and poor players are gettin' hard times bringing themselves up. :shiftyeyes_anim: Few newbies already came up to me, if not asking for a leech then asking for items . I leech em' even though Im a champ TSSing at thor.
veg Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 i agree too.. i having hard time after 3 mths not playing and is there a way to solve this?
Dudu Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 (edited) Well yeah but, You do get a hard time earinng stuff to actually survive playing fRO but, Hey cheer up! I admit i was one of those newbies askin like "Items plz im new" But i didnt gave up, i started to Farm, Mvp, Woe with noob gears or w/e, selling, trading for like 2 years, and look at me now :D I'm not saying im rich, just saying that im a good and well geared player like o always wanted =D Peace and Good Luck Newcomers!!!!! Dudu Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 I never said itenz plz but still got everything for free, LOL. LOL WHOA.....Im not commentin about that LOL
Rayray Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 if most newbies are like me, they should wait for the event called "pro quitting" where rich guys had enough and decides to give out their items in a hide and seek event. Playing here for too long, I had 4 of those events won :p
Xtopher Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 I never asked for items. The day I joined the server I found a strong PVPer and told him I was donating and asked what I should get. So yea... I really just bought my stuff. I have respect for people who spend months and months getting gear, but that definitely isn't for me. And ZerO25 is right, I've seen a good bit of those events, never been to one though...
Rayray Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 My winnings include... an Fset, 1x fdagger, and 2x str belts. :p
Perishable Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 I got 4 Free Emperium Aurora from random people.
kuoch Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 I borrowed a f-sets and won PvP ladder and made myself to the top of being geared. Pretty easy.
Soop Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 i donated for most of what i have now but i also spent a HUGE amount of time looting and i had A TON of help looting from some very cool friends. My best advice for newbies is to start small, dont try and pvp, and find some other noobs to help loot items with and mvp. This game is really like a community and if you work together things go a lot faster. I helped someone loot items for a elite set and we did it in a couple days. As far as people asking for items its one of the main reasons i quit the first time it got to be so bad i couldnt walk into for_fild without 3 people asking me for stuff. And when it comes to friends i have no problem buying people items but now that i have no money i cant. But im not going to give out items that worked hard for or bought with money that i had to work hard for. We were all noobs once and we fought tooth and nail to get to where we are so why should we just hand out our items to people who dont want to spend time looting or trading? On a side note i learned my lesson i gave out over 200 qpons and another 200 qpons worth of gear over the first 6 or so month i was here and i could use those qpons right now. Anyways i dont hate people begging cause i know that not everyone has a lot of time every day to play and looting alone can be a very long process.
Irisu Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 It depends really. I don't despise begging, I give out items sometimes. But it's so funny how 1 person begs for items, gets it from you, and then logs on a different char, and beg again. Its ironic how he/she tries to sound like someone else but ends up muttering the same damn lines which makes you go, WOOOW. Perhaps even begging requires some skills. It's considerably hard to start building up your own items pools in FRO, and to gear yourself up without any help. Boy I spent months, oh. I think a year, to try find my way through. I did almost everything, farming for those armors worth 68k in for_fild01, ended up getting killed half the time, farming for ores for the fdun pass, buying and selling, vending, and yeah. Eventually with a few help from some friends, I managed to finally get some gears for WoE, PvP or what not. Not to mention the very helpful gears I got from some friends who quit or left. One note: When D.coupons were of the considerable amount of between 18-20m, the vending money daily did come in handy, but obviously not now anymore. It's really hard to try push your way through so many rich powerhouses, the rich gets richer, the poor can never get more than enough taste of how Poor they are, each day. It's a very competitive server with dominance mostly laying on the rich ones, and those who donated. Not saying that it's impossible to get rich, just that it's a cumbersome process and takes way longer time. It's a subjective view, really. Everyone has different views on different things, so there's no real answer to this.
Gilgamesh Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 (edited) part of the community is disgusting that's all Edited June 25, 2010 by Gilgamesh
Ethereal Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 It depends really. I definitely agree with this. I've been on the server for a long time and I often get this a lot. "Beginners" would often come up to me going "item plz" or something along the lines of that, and I would give them something small (eg. Lif Hat). The next thing I know they either never come on again or they log onto another character. It's quite sad actually. I think that's one of the main reasons why I often don't talk/hand out stuff to "beginners" anymore. Also it depends what you mean by "elitists." If by elitist you mean players that are rich and act snobbish, ignorant and have no sense of respect, then I definitely agree. Most of the community is like that. I'll admit it, I've even acted like that at times (in cases where I act like this to my friends is entirely different). But I know for a fact that every "rich" player has acted like this at one point or another. And like Gilgamesh said, it's a part of the community. There's really no "solution" to it.
Apo Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 I don't mind helping someone with a build or showing an NPC location ect ect as long as you don't start begging for items or asking me to be friends or whatever.
