Noxxsix Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 Hello again, I'm still trying to decide on what i want my main to be. So I was wondering what everyone thinks of a holy light High Priest with Kiels, maybe coma. I'm also looking for a guild :)

I was thinking Wiz for farming till i get good gear for maybe a sinx, and stalkers can be fun if anyone gives u enough time to pull off a full strip.

All Priest offensive abilities are very easily countered (coma, divest, holy light, even thana). I wouldn't suggest the class unless you really like it and are willing to deal with being very weak and a big target for PKers. I'd take Perishable's suggestion. Farm for some money and gear on a Wizard then go Stalker. They're much easier to play and much more versatile. Because WS is completely UP atm , I decided to play priest as well untill WS would get buffed. As for the builds, I'm a melee priest and it's working fine, I can reach up to 6-8k hits on semi-redux people. And priest survivability is great as well. I'd definetely recommend priest as one of the first classes to make. Also priests are pretty much a small target for PKers as long as you buff them ;P . All in all a great class to start off with.

As for the builds, I'm a melee priest and it's working fine, I can reach up to 6-8k hits on semi-redux people. And priest survivability is great as well. Anyway, sure you can spit out 6-8k on a "semi-redux" player.... but what about those SinX popping off insane EDP dmg, Clowns raining down 40-100k per Vulcan, Champs hitting 150-200k asuras and 15-30k TSS's... 6-8K is nothing... people have an avg of anywhere from 170-350k hp and you expect to kill them with 6-8k melee damage?. A good pvper wouldn't fall for strip/coma/weapon break and even if they did they'll come back ready for you and good luck killing them twice. Priests tend to be one of the first targets when someone goes on a killing/randoming spree (because we can resurrect). They have Assumptio, Basilica, and Holy Light and thats really about it. Even Basilica won't save you from a lot of classes. Have fun being a PKer's buff slave. I would definitely not suggest priest as your first class. There are so many better options right now. I would wait until you've become more accustomed to pvp and the custom items on this server to branch out to this class.

In the end, there's this NPC that makes a 'RO vocational test' with you by asking questions. Answer them all honestly and he'll tell you what class best suits you, it usually works! When i started RO i did this, it pointed me towards being Acolyte, i did and became a Priest>High Priest & it was lots of fun for my first RO char ever XD Priests are awesome; Magnus Exorcismus was a superb skill for MvPing. Their healing and buffing was always looked for by other players so you can make many friends like this. With their spirit their Holy Light becomes a trump card for those who believed they had no offensive potential. And of course, their battle builds where fun. But they are a bit screwed here; MvPs are overly buffed so they're not good to kill them anymore. Yggs casted their main role (heal) into the darkness. GTB makes their only source of descent damage useless. And to go full battle? It's a fun build but to serious pvp actions better make a sinx! XD i seriously love the class; one of my favorites, but it is hard to get around as a priest in here ^^"

I completely forgot about this. I did it when I first started iRO like.... 7 years ago.... The npc suggested I become a Swordsman and I did. Loved Swordsman branch in iRO.

I do mention WS a lot because I like to compare the other classes with them and point out how bad they actually are xD; Either way, I manage to kill quite a lot of people on my priest including geared ones. However, yes if you want to be a killing machine you should pick something else other than a priest. Priest is more of a supporter and a decent tanking class instead of a heavy damage dealer. However it's easy to make friends while playing a priest since their buffs are always appreciated. I would still stay it's a good pick for a first character, but if you want to try and be a killing machine right of the bat you could make something else. Also the starters test might be a good option for you to figure out what suits you the best ( as stated before by Sorrow )
Rayray Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 Priests can kick ass especially people underestimate them. Melee priests works well with Incant but you really need to have a priest book and not just a book of dead. Full Reducts melee priests are more annoying though.

Priests can be a good friend (buffs/resurrection) or a crappy enemy (Lex, Decrease Agi). If you're looking to make friends Priest is a great option. If you're looking to own people in pvp or do any kind of MVPing I would choose one of the more popular classes.
