Legato Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 I didn't realized what to expect from the elite set for the sniper... When I got it... It sucks... Aside from the weap... And why was it given a shield? WHY!!!??? I WASTED THREE WEEKS FOR NOTHING!!! Made me think that I could wear the bow AND shield. Disappointment...:(
Genesis Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 Since when can a sniper wear a shield and a good bow? They were meant to be swapped during asura and during an attack phase, you could have asked us what the effect was before doing it.
Legato Posted January 9, 2008 Author Report Posted January 9, 2008 But couldn't it be replaced with something else? I mean, honestly, how many snipers out there actually swap? For me, range is the ultimate weapon a sniper can possess. I don't have much trouble with champs. It's either they kill you or they don't. SinX are the one I worry. It's too much a hassle to try to swap while saving yourself from their assault.
Gilgamesh Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 You can't always rely on bows. I mean woah, True Sight and Improve Concentration can make a good short-ranged sniper.
Legato Posted January 9, 2008 Author Report Posted January 9, 2008 But still. If you were to do short ranged, if they attacked me, I'm still screwed... And what? Am I supposed to wear a shield and knife? Am I supposed to go the the trouble of changing my build everytime I want to pvp, or everytime I ENTER the pvp arena?
nnnitsuj Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 Yeah, I made a melee sniper once. They've got decent damage for a ranged class. And for swapping, you'll need to get used to it. Im sure there are a lot of people that swap here. Including snipers. Just because dex is a snipers primary stat doesn't mean it'll make it godly.
Legato Posted January 9, 2008 Author Report Posted January 9, 2008 I don't know about a lot. Range has always been preferred. It sounds like you were just messing around and at the same time discovered that they were decent in short ranged. Lol. And snipers aren't meant to do short-ranged attacks...That's why they're snipers...For distance...Hence their title.
Gilgamesh Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 Hybrids are ftw ;> and Pnuema > Range anytime.
nnnitsuj Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 It doesn't matter if they're called a Sniper. I like messing around with different builds[Preferring Non-melee to melee]. And, I find some good builds. And it's good to swap. It helps a load.
Gilgamesh Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 What does that Forsaken Sniper Bow do anyway? Isn't it indestructible?
Legato Posted January 9, 2008 Author Report Posted January 9, 2008 Yeah the are. I think all elite sets are indestructible. I just think that something else should replace the shield. It doesn't make much sense in my opinion. For those who use a short-ranged weapon, I understand you point. But the majority doesn't use a knife or whatever. The majority of snipers use bows/crossbows.
Gilgamesh Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 You didn't waste time because you got something good from the quest.
Arcane Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 yeah. And I mean people give up and you did it!! YAY!! It's not a waste! It's an honor!
sarduarkar Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 Even if its just for the elite weapons. It was worth it. Those elite weapons pwn.
L2Aim Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 L2Switch to GTB to prevent coma, cranial to lower asura damage and such things. A shield IS important to a sniper class. It would be the same as not using traps in PvP, making your class' abilities totally useless. The whole Elite Quest is about the weapon imo, if you want good gears save some coupons for the donation set or just donate yourself...
Ethereal Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 Traps are extremely useful against certain classes, such as asura champs. When they're about to asura you, use shockwave and that'll reduce their SP by a lot and they'll do lower damage. And ankle snare - useful against sins, unless they backslide to death. ]: Skid trap is also useful too.
L2Aim Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 Skid trap is your way of dashing away, in combination with arrow shower you can either pull it to you or push it towards the enemy. Depending on it's level you will be pushed backwards x amount of tiles, for level 5 that is 10 tiles back. I can explain how to use arrow shower and trapping, but I guess I've shown that enough in PvP. Also when you trap even a sniper becomes a decent opponent against a pala, we've done some guild events (Team LMS) and traps sure come in handy..
