Im kind of slow in da head gen lol but is defender suppose to NEUTRALIZE all speed buffs and speed potions because when i use defender no matter what buff i get speed stays same, i just need someone to clarify this for me :(

That's true but it's ever since 2008/07/07 that Defender started to cap the walk speed to a minimum of 200. (Before you could speed yourself up) Meaning that you can't walk slower than 200. Whenever you use the skill your walking speed is set to the minimum of 200. (That's what they announced as the change) but as the script says :

if( sc->data[sC_DEFENDER] )

- speed = max(speed, 200);

((So yay the change does something else than what was actually announced.. instead of setting an minimum walking speed it set an maximum walking speed causing us to be unable to walk any faster than 200... Lovely. ))However, This change seems really unnecessary to me , considering that paladins were not OP at all, and now suck even more than they already did.

So yes.. this was an official update.. but it was done in 2008/07/07 , it seems rather outdated to me and also see no reason to keep this change. If you think otherwise or agree I'd like to hear from you (admins etc as well) But because this topic is about gypsies I think we should stay on topic and move back to the gypsy discussion. so if you'd like to respond to anything I've said feel free to PM me so we can talk or discuss. But please let's get back on topic with this topic :3.

God.

Think before you fucking post.

max(speed, 200) chooses the greater of the two values. So if speed was 150, it'd choose 200. If speed was 250, it'd choose 250.

It does what it's fucking supposed to.

Now either stfu and stop posting or don't post about shit you have no idea of.

People piss me off so much lately..

You obviously didn't get a thing of what I said in my previous post. Please read it again this time more careful. and think before you post might be an good idea for you as well because your post was completely useless, unnecessary and I do know what I'm talking about.

Now either stfu and stop posting or don't post about shit you have no idea of.
Once again you're going on the childish mode. If you can't take it that someone thinks differently or explains something. don't respond or respond maturely and don't go around like a little child and be rude to anyone you don't like. in this case me.

People piss me off so much lately..
I understand I piss you off, but I'm free to show my opinion whether you like it or not. If you don't like it don't read my posts. I'm not afraid of discussing your point of view on any subject but it would be very appreciated it if you could at least respond maturely.

Now if you have any more to add to this matter you can pm me, as for the gypsy matter you can post it in here. Do as you wish.

Yes, edit your posts to make me look stupid.

Go ahead.

Eh lol ? I haven't edited my post at all. You most likely just misread it when you made that post in your bad temper, and since you don't want to admit an mistake you're trying to blame it on me. You can ask an moderator if you want, they can see if and/or when it was edited if that's what you really want (You'll see the post has not been edited after your bad temper post ) . Don't worry about it I'm an quite stubborn person as well but in the end it would be nothing more than mature to admit that you were wrong.

Oh oops, I misread it the *second* time.

But my point stays valid;

Size 5'd the relevant sections for you.

if( sc->data[sC_DEFENDER] )

Oh and, about me thinking you edited your post:

I didn't read your entire post when I wrote that, then when you replied and said what you said was correct; I re-read your post and saw the first part; which wasn't what I had originally posted about either way. It was the part in quotes that is incorrect and pissed me off though; and still is there as of now.

yaddayaddayadda

causing us to be unable to walk any faster than 200... Lovely.

That's the only thing I don't get. Lol.

Could you tell me what is wrong in that particular section because this that part was copy pasted from the eAthena boards. it was quoted from one of the mods. and it seems very logical to me that it sets an maximum walking speed as soon as you activate devo. This would also explain why speed potions or agi up won't help.

That's the only thing I don't get. Lol.
I tried to explain that what they officially announced as the defender change is different from what it's actually scripted to do, meaning it was or an mistake in the announcement or an mistake in the script after all.

Hope this clearified my somewhat, confusing post.

Because max(speed,200) does not set a maximum.

Because max(speed,200) does not set a maximum.

What I can read/understand from this script is that it puts an speed reduction of 200 on your character as soon as you activate defender, though this number can not change with any movement adding or slowing because movement speed doesn't stack and it always takes the highest value. However then I do not understand why speed potion wouldn't help because speed potion would be the highest value. but it doesn't work.. in other words it does set an cap on the speed that makes you unable to increase your walking speed and be stuck with the 200 speed reduce. which actually is almost the same I said earlier except to the fact it's an reduction by 200 instead of maximum walking speed 200.

Did I miss something ? or am I once again completely wrong ? please tell me :blush:

I think we were both thinking backwards here, I just remembered that movement speed is inverted.

The lower movement speed is, the faster you go.

So max(speed, 200); while indeed setting a *minimum* limit on the value; sets a *maximum* limit on the actual observed speed, and 200 is actually rather slow iirc. The default is 150 or so. Speed pot greatly *decreases* your speed, setting it to something like 70 or 80, which is lower than 200; and thus the higher value (200) would get picked.

So speed pot should have no effect.

Man we were both right, I was just thinking backwards.

Lol your so friggin right on that one. How could I be this stupid lawl. So yeah we were both right :3 ... But I should've known that -_-; it didn't cross my mind though since it's so un-logical. So that kinda solves all the remaining issues that we couldn't figure out xD; Yay another mystery solved. My point still stands I think this change is useless. :huh:

Lmfao I just laughed at my own stupidity.
