It's a good thing that we fail to see it, I guess. Avoids getting us hurt.

More often than not, we deliberately choose not to see some things to avoid all the hurt afterwards. They say ignorance is bliss, but I think avoiding is worse.

I think this sentence can be interpreted in many ways - I've understood it in a way that at the point of life we are blind to see that there is something hurting us or has a strong potential to do so :). Either way though, avoiding and hiding from something might not only hunt a person doing so, it might affect others strongly linked to that person, thus it does more damage than if a person would face it :).
