stahn Posted November 14, 2007 Report Posted November 14, 2007 ders a lot of bots in FOR_FILD02 i saw like dis day / ders 10wizards and sages are camping in dat map.... any GM cannot solve dis problem . . . do something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
jetab Posted November 14, 2007 Report Posted November 14, 2007 I was there yesterday with my high wizard (Radagast) collecting berries, and i didn´t see anyone botting. How can i notice if someone is botting?
Zeitgeist Posted November 14, 2007 Report Posted November 14, 2007 The most easy way to spot a botter is to notice if some characters are warping away from you at inhumanely speeds. Most bots are made for melee classes, although there have been bot programs for wizards too. If you think you've spotted a boter, don't hesitate to @request us. You don't need to include a name, just the map you saw the bot in, we can check on in with that.
Bruce Wayne Posted November 14, 2007 Report Posted November 14, 2007 Well yea I saw quite a few botters in for_fild02 too. I don't think blocking would help much. It'd be better to implement some mechanism to block bots from warping to that map, or to access the storage. Others got any good idea?
Terroryst Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 Blocking would help alot. It puts other botters in fear, that botting would have them blocked from the server, and it hould be to the whole server.
0000006 Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 we can't stop people from botting altogether but banning them would be useful. however, the problem would be how to spot a botter since maps are plentiful and people are.. well relatively speaking, few. if someone doesnt talk and continues to train, then he's botting. some bots dont warp away though. but maybe botting would stop if there would be some super fast place to train to lv 255

I play ToP (Tales of Pirates), and they got this pop-up with a code you need to type in... in 1 minute. It's some kind of lottery, but it would be awesome to detect botters like that. It can be cool. =D
RuDe Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 Or on another server, to prevent botting, they used to do something similar but only when you login. Like you got to enter some numbers and after you enter them, only then can you continue playing ... Every one minute sucks ... gets annoying. Bots either log off or do not proceed.

Genesis has previously created something that makes a "RO Police" use @hide on you and to unhide you must type in a ridiculously long number and if you don't do it under a certain time limit you get jailed. If he could implement that in the most bot populated maps then it would solve alot.
Amalgamation Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 Genesis has previously created something that makes a "RO Police" use @hide on you and to unhide you must type in a ridiculously long number and if you don't do it under a certain time limit you get jailed. If he could implement that in the most bot populated maps then it would solve alot. Genesis and I have both tested this. I have already suggested this but we have found a bug with this so called "RO Police". If you do get the message and disconnect. After that you log back on, you are invincible due to the fact you are still in the "@hide" mode. But, others can still see you.
Kingdom Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 So dont use @hide? make it like warp you to a jail or something and if you dont type fast enough you get disconnected and if so it warps you back? I meen...Warping someone isnt much of a hastle or much time. 2 seconds BAM your there
DoomSlay Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 um, i think the best way to solve this bot problem is to put gameguard? filtiring 3rd party programs
Terroryst Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 People have found ways for GameGuard, how do you think they can hack MapleStory. >.>
Kingdom Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 Yeah well we arnt maplestory, that game fails.
Jer Flip Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 In other words, GameGuard has flaws that can easily be exploited. A pop-up code when entering maps/logging in won't work either, as someone can just punch in the code and leave the bot running afterwards.
