carlooreste Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 Most of the pallies just play devotion build, grand cross type and str type pallies are so rare because it's easy to counter. For gc type, just use gtb, but it's damage is relatively better compared to the damage of str type pallies. Moreover, there is paladin cursed ring which boosts GC, while on str type pallies, there's no ring for damage. Yes, you can use pally blessed, but it's just for hp. For str type pallies(rapid smitting) just use Gr, which the players use in default and the damage will be manageable. Since the property of Rapid Smitting is neutral ( elemental converters don't affect the damage ), it's damage is low versus players who uses ghostring and raydric. Yes you can say use thana, but GR alone is enough to counter Rapid smitting. But why? Because the spam of rapid smitting is too slow. Compare it to spiral pierce of Lk's and you can feel the difference. What am i suggesting is to make the spam of rapid smitting a little bit faster. Just contest when you feel that it will make battle type paladin OP. Thanks :) Btw, i just want to play new build! 1
jameslamela Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 the reason only few people play battle pally because it is way too expensive. i remeber dueling a battle pally called shield demon. he use holy cross as his main atk, if i go for angeling armor to make him missed... he automatically switch in shield chain, and if i use 2x noxious to reduct his shield chain, he switch into puppetring armor and if i get stoned, he use matyrs reconing... i cant use my undead armor to counter his stone tactic coz hes gonna kill me with holy cross... its all about BATTLE VARIATION AND TACTICS... i cant imagine how OP battle pally is if they got boost up. fyi, pally are made not to deal massive damage coz theres an lk for it. pally is more defensive type rather than offensive unlike its lk counterpart.
Forum~ Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) the reason only few people play battle pally because it is way too expensive.I think they're just about as expensive as any other class, give or take 500 tokens, lol. If anything, the most expensive and most difficult to play class would have to be champion for sure. Anyway... fyi, pally are made not to deal massive damage coz theres an lk for it. pally is more defensive type rather than offensive unlike its lk counterpart.Good point. ^ I think pally is well-balanced at the moment. They don't hit high, but they don't hit low either. They have solid variability in the builds they can shoot for as jameslamela points out and considering what they are supposed to be, a tank, they aren't too shabby on the offensive end from my observations. They aren't that great 1v1 sure (as it should be), but in a gang, they're pretty much one of the classes that can overwhelmingly determine the winning side versus the losing side. carlooreste Posted March 2, 2014 Author Report Posted March 2, 2014 Hmm yeah, youre right about pallies for being defensive rather than offensive. But making rapid smitting spam faster won't make paladins that much of offensive type. Still, rapid smitting is easy to counter. You said lk is the offensive counterpart of swordsman, but theyre not just for offensive, they can do defensive as well. it's because they can also tank like pallies because of their parry which wasnt really intended for 1 handed sword =)
