Rayray Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 It seriously depends on your skill as a player and your gears. Some people do good on using just DS, the others FAS. The others also can use both of the skills depending on the situation. Although if you don't have freyr gaunts and ifrit cards, going FAS would be hard since you have to use more stats to get crit. But FAS damage is good against any enemy(mostly). DS sometimes needs Thanatos card to be effective, and by then you have to keep switching around weapons if your thana bow dont work much. I honestly can't compare the 2 skills, both are great skills to begin with, and snipers do great damage overall. If you make an FAS sniper fight against a DS sniper, the one who will win is the one who utilizes sniper's other skills.
Sensation Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 It's not the skill that makes the player great, it's the player that makes skills look great. Everything on a sniper is based on how you use the tools you're given, your falcon, your traps, your different bows and accessories, on yourself and on your enemies. I haven't been in the game for a long time, but I doubt any sniper does the sniper slide these days (skid trapping yourself). Try hybrid, get the required armour, cards, accessories and bows to be able to swap from pure FAS to DS and bring the element of surprise called adaptation to circumstances.
zergling Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 To be honest, there's only a few snipers who use the class to it's full potential, I personally use a hybrid build with DS/FAS combined and without full gear am able to compete with fully geared snipers (i.e. SB, ring, freyr, ect) when I'm using L bow, and dex belts. It all depends on how you play the class and how fast you can swap your gear, as well as how fast you can swap arrows.
