supream Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 I would get a better graphics card. Six core processor? What is this madness? You will probably never use all those efficiently, unless you are a computer programmer, video and picture editor, and what not. Six cores just for gaming doesn't sound right. There is a problem with running ro in full screen with windows 8 but its not a problem that can't be fixed. Seems like a lot for just 350$ who makes the pc? Quote

supream Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 (edited) man a terabyte? you're never going to use all the space unless you constantly download tons of videos. If you plan on keeping this desktop for the next 6 years or more then I would go for the first one with an eight core for advanced 3D gaming (I hope you're not going to just be playing ro forever) and upgrade the graphics card to either an AMD 7000 series (just pick the latest one if possible) or get the Nvidia Geforce GTX series ( although AMD graphics would work better with an AMD processor). You can always buy more hard drive space later, or just delete stuff because 500 gigs is a lot. Depending if you have a ethernet net cable available or not get the wireless add on because using a card sucks. Might want to get a little more RAM but that depends on you. everything else is fine. Considering those add ones it would probably run it up to around $500, but with those specs it should cost like $1,600 or even more than that lol who you buying this stuff from? It seems like your buying something that someone put together rather than a company since you don't know the manufacture name. Be warned there is no warranty on those and if it sucks when you buy it from that person then you're out of luck. Edited May 9, 2013 by supream Quote
Munchiesz Posted May 9, 2013 Author Report Posted May 9, 2013 yea its a person who makes them on Craigslist. lol and which one would you recommend? Quote

supream Posted May 10, 2013 Report Posted May 10, 2013 Here's a tip if a deal sounds to good to be true then it usually is. I don't see how you can get all that for $500 there might be some sort of catch there. Quote
Munchiesz Posted May 10, 2013 Author Report Posted May 10, 2013 O.O i think the person has a shop i might just go and check it up. Quote
Nasus Posted May 10, 2013 Report Posted May 10, 2013 Go file your ticket about ring nga. hahaha 1 Quote
Rayray Posted May 10, 2013 Report Posted May 10, 2013 I wouldn't let someone build me a pc if I myself am not that good at the hardware, you might get screwed. I would prefer to get it from a company or build one myself, because it really sounds way too good to be true. Six-core processor is kinda overkill though. I program using Ruby and develop web applications using Ruby on Rails framework, and I barely use 2 cores when I am working. Unless you plan on rendering videos, I don't think 6 cores would be needed(especially if it is just for gaming). And what Supream said too, get a better graphics card, you never know when will they release a game that is graphics intensive, so aim a little higher on the graphics card. 500 GB hard drive is enough, you can always buy an external one and put your movies and stuff you don't always use in there. I would honestly upgrade to more than 4gb ram, I aim high so I would get 8 since I kinda need it. And I do hope you invest something to cool that rig. Not sure nowadays since I mostly use gaming laptops and macs, but my experience in AMD is it heats a little faster. Quote

Bishop Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 Alright, I could give you a long answer or a short one. :P The first computer you mentioned would indeed cost more than 500. If someone would be attempting to sell it for 500 it's fishy. Aside from that the powersupply is actually too weak for the rest of the specs, causing it to break rather quickly or not run at all. I personally use a quad core with multi threading so it uses it as 8 cores instead. You really won't need anything more than a regular quad core for gaming. Anything more will be usable once you are going to video-edit, are running an audio studio on your computer or have other visual or audio work of that sort. The graphicscard on the first noted setup is rather weak and won't last for years if you want to play the most recent and upcoming games. However the line of "** Upgrade to Higher Video Card for $125 to play all the newer games on high settings **" scares me. That's an obvious sentence to trick the people that don't know much about hardware. Yes, a 125 dollar graphics card can give you enough to play all the newer games, however it does really depend on what graphic card it would be. And there's a chance you could get a cheaper one with the same result :). I would however higher the amount of RAM you have selected in the setup as 4gb is the current minimum. Last but not least : Gigabyte AM3+ Motherboard <- This does not give enough information. There's a TON of gigabyte am3+ motherboards. You'll need a version or serial number so you can look it up online. And make sure you have at least 2 PCI-Express slots and multiple slots for your RAM memory. Also check the compatibility of the motherboard with different CPU's. This way you'll know if you can use the motherboard long-term or if it is not possible to get more out of it than you currently are buying. Quote
