Brawler1023 Posted February 5, 2013 Report Posted February 5, 2013 (edited) I Suggest that put a small installer not small patcher. I mean to small installer is all the FILEs of fRO except Renewal or Ragray. Pros: for those players who can't wait downloading All-In-One Installer for 8 hours or 1 day. Especially to those who already had downloaded Renewal or Ragray Clients. So that when they're playing fRO they will not experiencing errors. Edited February 5, 2013 by Brawler1023
Rayray Posted February 5, 2013 Report Posted February 5, 2013 I am not really sure if we can make that work. We have too many customs compared to other servers. Add the fact that we have custom storyline quests + custom npcs for those quests + custom maps.
Bishop Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 (edited) The "small patcher" is a "small installer" you're goaling at. Just a different name, but the same thing. We also have the manual patch which also includes all needed files to play FRO aside from renewal/sakray. Edited February 6, 2013 by Bishop
Rayray Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 @Bishop but isn't it the small installer isn't fully updated. I remember gen telling us to download the All-in-one after the patch on the rings quest so that we wouldn't have problems, so I assumed that the small installer is not what he is looking for. 1

YOUR'E RIGHT!
Bishop Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 No he's not right. The reason why the all in one had to be downloaded once is due to the change from regular kro/sakray to renewal. Official items changed/ IDs changed, maps were added etc etc. The info that's stored in the data.grf/sdata.grf got merged and changed. Aside from those files we have 'custom' files. Like our own sprited headgears, a way to connect to our server and the other custom things we have. Those are stored in the server files not in the sdata.grf. In other words the all-in-one gave you a newer sdata.grf with the renewal files included to it (which is the same as having the renewal clients downloaded). All our server-side files are updated with our patcher, this does not make any changes to your sdata.grf only to our server grf files. The requirement to download the all in one was to support the change to renewal (new maps and such). And we still very much advice to download the game through our all in one installer. However, the small patcher/installer is sufficient with the newest renewal clients downloaded. However I will not guarantee that you will be completely error-less if you install the game through different ways than the suggested way.
Rayray Posted February 7, 2013 Report Posted February 7, 2013 http://www.forsaken-ro.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=22101 this was the topic that veracity(i thought it was genesis) said that we needed to DL the all-in-one because of the changes. Keep in mind that when I DLed this, I already had the previous all-in-one and patched that one, but I still get error in the Knight hall. So I never really thought that the all-in-one is because of the renewal changes. If that is the case, why would some people still get errors in Knight hall when they used the small installer? @brawler did you try using the small installer and do you still get errors somewhere?
Bishop Posted February 8, 2013 Report Posted February 8, 2013 (edited) this was the topic that veracity(i thought it was genesis) said that we needed to DL the all-in-one because of the changes. Keep in mind that when I DLed this, I already had the previous all-in-one and patched that one, but I still get error in the Knight hall. So I never really thought that the all-in-one is because of the renewal changes. If that is the case, why would some people still get errors in Knight hall when they used the small installer? Didn't I just explain why ? The previous all in one(old one) had just sakray in the sdata.grf. The new All-in-One has Renewal files in the sdata.grf. If people would only use the small installer and add it to the older All-In-One they would still error because they would not have the renewal files. The small installer does not make changes to the sdata.grf. Only the newer All-in-One does. Hence why you needed to download the newer All-In-One once to change your sdata.grf. All following updates after that were only changes to the server-side files. Not to the sdata.grf. The reason why people would still error in the knight room without the newer all-in-one is because it uses renewal sprites. And you don't have those without the updated sdata.grf from the newer All-In-One. Edit : Just to get this clear : You can not update from KRO/Sakray to renewal just by patching the KRO/Sakray/FRO clients. The entire support for KRO/Sakray has been dropped by Gravity and a new system called renewal was added. This system merged certain data files and altered a LOT of things. The only way to get to renewal was to download the new renewal files as the patch servers for KRO and Sakray have also been taken down. Edited February 8, 2013 by Bishop
Rayray Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 Ok now I get it. In short, with all those stuff, the small installer wouldn't really much help if you wanted to play error free. In conclusion, the topic starter still needs to DL the all-in-one to be completely error free, correct?
Bishop Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 If he already has the renewal clients the small installer should allow him to play on our server and most likely error-free as well. However I will not guarantee that no errors will occur because he/she refuses to install the game through the way we suggest him/her to install it.
Veracity Posted March 9, 2013 Report Posted March 9, 2013 Bishop covered this well. We do already have a small installer. We are looking for ways to reduce the size of the all in one and create another smaller option. Thanks for your suggestion!
