I. Overview

- I'd say Paladins are the most versatile class out there. They have good survivability skills, good defensive capabilities, and has hard-hitting offensive power. Although I wouldn't recommend starting out a Paladin, its still your choice. I'd say start out as a Wizard because it has better farming skills than a Pally. But if you want to hunt them by piece or by smaller quantities, its still your choice. Paladins can still farm stuff with Grand cross, but at a more risky level. Still want to become a Paladin? if yes, read on pl0x.

II. Equipment

-Now any respectable character wouldn't be caught dead walking without good gear. This is a PK server and fights can occur almost everywhere. You have to be ready at all times, whether your farming stuff or just plain idling somewhere. Equipment are VERY important, so choose wisely.

Weapons:

1. Falchion [4] - good to start with if you needed the slots. It can be bought from the item mall at Forsaken City, or dropped by Familiars. It doesn't boast much of an attack power, but its definitely better than a Blade[4].

2. Pike[4] - the spear that you might want to target first if you need the slots. Other spears like Brocca (Pierce Defense of Target, Add Neutral element damage +25%), and Pole Axe[1] might work as well. Pike can be bought from the Item Mall as well as the above mentioned spears. Remember to use ONE-handed spears since you'll be needing the space for the shield.

3. Main Gauche[4] - if you're a bit low in stats, you'll probably want to use a dagger since Paladins have very crappy ASPD boosts with a spear.

4. Edge - gives instantaneous death by small chance. Small chance to cast Coma on the enemies. Can be bought from the item mall.

Armors

Body:

1. Glittering Jacket[1] - my all-time favourite starting armor. It has a good 7 defense and a chance to Blind the enemy. It can be bought from the item mall as well.

2. Odin's Blessing[1] - good when used with the HP boosting combination of Vali's Manteau and Vidar Boots. If you don't have those two, its still alright. Odin's blessing can be bought from the merchant mall at a very affordable price.

3. Goibne Set - The armor may be unslotted, but it has good HP and VIT bonuses, perfect for starting players.

4. Meteor Plate[1]- Add a 30% resistance to the Stun and Freeze status.

5. Valkyrja Armor (Valkyrie Armor[1]) - might come in a bit expensive, but all worth it. Indestructible and gives +1 to all stats. [Mage, Archer, Acolyte Class] 50% resistance to Silence status. [swordsman, Thief, Merchant Class] 50% resistance to Stun Status. Defense 6.

Headgears:

1. Helm[1] - good if you don't have anything to use. The basic starting headgear for the swordsman classes.

2. Magni's Cap - Gives Str+ 1 and can be paired with Stone buckler[1] and Odin's Blessing[1].

3. Goibne Helm - Part of the Goibne Armor set.

4. New Year's Hat - +30 to all stats. Was cheap back then but now costs around 2 billion or so. An event item that was available for a limited time only.

5. Beret/Feather Beret - gives good reductions against demi-humans.

6. Poopoo/Laughing Poopoo hat - gives very good damage reductions from demi-humans. Laughing poopoo is available via quest only.

7. Other custom headgears can be found in the forums. Use the search function to find what you want.

Middle Headgears:

1. Dragon Aurora[1] - gives +5 to all stats, 1 slot. A basic test of patience if you're in for it. Almost all fRO players strived to make their very first Dragon Aurora via Dragon Rider quest. Can be quite hard, but you'll get by.

2. Sunglasses/Glasses[1] - can be bought via Item Mall.

Lower headgears:

1. Every custom wing gives +15% to walking speed. ForsakenRO boasts a unique collection of custom wings that are sure to be major eye-candy.

2. Crunch Toast(?) - for the lulz.

Garments:

1. Vali Manteau - can be used in combination with the Odin's Blessing[1] and Vidar Boots Set. Reduces 15% from nenutral property attacks.

2. Goibne Spaulders - nice HP/Vit boosts. Used together with the other Goibne Armor Set.

3. Muffler[1]

4. Manteau[1]

5. Wool Scarf[1] - can be used with the Tidal Shoes combo. MDEF +4 MHP+10%

6. Wolfheiden[1] -Whenever you receive a Physical Damage, there is a small chance to reduce all incoming Physical Damage by 20% for 2 seconds, but also reduces your MDEF by 20% during that 2 seconds.

7. Mithril Magic Manteau[1]-Whenever you receive a Magical Damage, there is a small chance to reduce all incoming Magical Damage by 20% for 2 seconds, but also reduces your DEF by 20% during that 2 seconds.

8. Valkyrja manteau[1] -[swordman, Merchant, Thief Class]Reflect 5% of all Physical Melee Damage back to the enemy which inflicted it. Additional Reflect Damage can be earned by Refining, and is equal to the Refine Rate * 2.

Footgear:

Pressure (Skill ID# 367)

iRO Name: Gloria Domini

Type: Offensive

Max Level: 5

Requirements: Endure Level 5, Faith Level 5, Shield Charge Level 2

SP Cost: 25 + 5*SkillLV

Target: Enemy

Range: 9

Cast Time: 1.5 + 0.5*SkillLV sec

After Cast Delay: 1.5 + 0.5*SkillLV sec

Effect: Ranged attack that calls upon a cross from the sky to crush your enemies. Does a fixed amount of 500+300*SkillLV damage and makes the target loose 15%+5*SkillLV% SP. This skill is an attack by the holy God himself and therefore ignores all enemy defense and Flee, and can not be interrupted or canceled by Magic Rod, Reflect Shield, Pneuma, Safety Wall, etc. Damage is not reduced by Woe Reduction, Energy Coat, equipment or cards; but is not affected by Lex Aeterna. The only way to avoid it is by Cloaking before getting targeted. Works against Bosses and the Emperium.

Level Description

1 800 HP, 20% SP

2 1100 HP, 25% SP

3 1400 HP, 30% SP

4 1700 HP, 35% SP

Sacrifice (Skill ID# 368)

iRO Name: Martyr's Reckoning

Type: Supportive

Max Level: 5

Requirements: Endure Level 1, Faith Level 5, Devotion Level 3

SP Cost: 100

Target: Self Range: Melee Range

Cast Time: Instant

Duration: Next five hits

Effect: Each hit you land sacrifices 9% of your Maximum HP to damage your enemy by up to 1.4 times the amount of sacrificed HP. Always hits, but you can die if you use up too many HP with this skill. Damage on the target is increased according to Maximum HP, Skill Level and weapon +% damage cards, Triple Bloody Boned being the best combo for WoE/PVP. It ignores Flee and defense of the target. Weapon cards won't increase the amount of HP taken from you. You CANNOT hit the Emperium with it. But you still lose 9% HP if you try. It's ALWAYS neutral element, meaning Ghostring, Cranial, Poo and Immune reduce its damage on the target. Reflect Shield can reflect the damage. Magnum Break and Pressure increase their damage. If the enemy is inside a Safety Wall and you attack him, it will miss, but you will lose 9% of your HP anyways. Ice Pick does not affect Sacrifice damage. Baphomet Card doesn't give Splash damage for Sacrifice hits. Can be used on Boss monsters. Reject Sword (Stalker skill) has a chance of halving Sacrifice damage (if Sac is used with Sword/Dagger) and reflecting it back to the Paladin. Can be Dispelled.

Level Description

1 100% the amount of sacrificed HP

2 110% the amount of sacrificed HP

3 120% the amount of sacrificed HP

4 130% the amount of sacrificed HP

Grand Cross (Skill ID# 254)

Type: Offensive

Max Level: 10

Requirements: Faith Level 10, Holy Cross Level 6

Required For: Devotion (L4).

HP Cost: See below

SP Cost: 30 + 7*SkillLV

Target: Self

Attack Type: Holy Property

Cast Time: 2 sec

After Cast Delay: 0.3 sec

There is a 33% Defense Reduction During Cast.

Effect: Do 3 holy element, cross shaped, splash attacks with area effect centered on yourself. Enemies of Undead and Demon type will be blinded. Damage is (100%+40*SkillLV%)*(ATK+MATK)*holy_property_fix per hit, where:

- ATK is the damage that you would cause to the monster using a normal (neutral property) attack (Masteries don't cont, weapon cards that increase ATK or STR work but cards that gives % more damage do NOT)

- MATK is the damage that you would cause to the monster using a neutral property spell (and this value CAN BE negative, like when a mob that has higher INT than your MATK, cards/weapons that add additional INT work)

During the cast process your defense will be reduced by 1/3. After casting is finished, you will receive 20% of current HP+([(100%+40*SkillLV%)*(ATK+MATK)]/2)*holy_property_fix damage per hit yourself, where:

- ATK is the damage that you would cause to YOURSELF using a normal attack (Thara Frog Card works and decrease damage. The '20% of current HP' rant can NOT be avoided or reduced!)

- MATK is the damage that you would cause to YOURSELF using a neutral property spell

Damage (on yourself) is reduced TWICE - first because of 'half damage to yourself', second because of the Faith skill (that reduces holy damage by half) so players actually get 1/4 damage.

You may not change the equipped shield while you cast this spell. Casting can not be interrupted and the damage ignores size modifications.

Level Description

1 140% ATK

2 180% ATK

3 220% ATK

4 260% ATK

5 300% ATK

6 340% ATK

7 380% ATK

8 420% ATK

9 460% ATK

10 500% ATK

Devotion (Skill ID# 255)

iRO Name: Sacrifice

Type: Support Max Level: 5

Requirements: Reflect Shield Level 5, Grand Cross Level 4

Required For: Sacrifice (L3 Paladin).

SP Cost: 25

Target: Selected Party/Guild Member(s) maximum is one per SkillLV

Range: 6 + SkillLV

Cast Time: 3 sec

Duration: 15 + 15*SkillLV sec

Effect: Protect party members by taking the full damage that they are receiving. They must be in range to benefit from this, once they leave the skill is canceled and needs to be recasted. Damage taken is based on the DEF of the person who gets hit, not the Crusader that takes the hit. If the caster has any self casted, class native enhancements on him, e.g. Endure (Endure transfer is disabled in WoE), Providence or Reflect Shield, the party member(s) will share these benefits, too. This skill cannot be used on other Crusaders. The level difference between the caster and the target must be equal or less than 10 (within normal EXP share range). The number of possible protected party members is 1*SkillLV. Should the HP of Crusader drop below 25%, Devotion will be canceled.

Level Description

1 30 sec, 1 Player

2 45 sec, 2 Players

3 60 sec, 3 Players

4 75 sec, 4 Players

5 90 sec, 5 Players

Leveling tips:

1~12 -kill porings/fabres/chon-chons/pupa at gef_fild07 or other newbie areas. But gef_fild07 has MOST of them, so its easier to find those little, and insignificant critters.

13~50 - pay_fild00 (You might want to take on weaker monsters before going to higher ones.)

50~99 - gl_prison. Spam holy cross and you'll do fine. Be careful of Rybios though. After that rebirth and repeat the process 1-3.

99~150 - gl_cas01/gl_cas02. Spam holy cross if you are STR type, and grand cross when you are INT type. Be careful of the damage return of Grand Cross though.

150~ 200 - abyss_01/abyss_02/abyss_03. By now you should have a max ASPD of 194-195. Melee them with a quad dragoon pike. The petite cards can be dropped by Earth petite. Just type @whereis Petite to see where they are at.

200~255 -thor_v03. Use Sacrifice skill against Kasas and Salamanders. There are also Bow Guardians and Sword Masters there that give very decent amounts of exp for easy leveling. Be careful when using Sacrifice on Salamanders and Sword Masters since they have reflect. A high damage Sac can kill a Paladin in less than 5 hits with reflect.

Sword Master- demi-human/large. Use a quad hydra pike for this. Either spam Holy Cross, or Sacrifice them. I used to die against these idiots with 30k per hit Sac reflect. Use YGGs when necessary.

Salamander - formless/fire property. Use a quad beholder pike for this. Beholder comes from Peco Peco Eggs, which can be found at moc_fild10.

Suggested Builds:

Str - keep it above 150 at least, or increase by 10s (160, 170, 180) [stat bonus unequipped (BaseStr +9)]

Agi - enough for 194~195 aspd if you want your Sacrifice/Holy Cross to hit faster. [stat bonus unequipped (BaseAgi +8)]

Vit - keep it above 190 at least, or increase by 10s [stat bonus unequipped (BaseVit +10)]

Int - add this if you want to take advantage of Grand Cross/Heal [stat bonus unequipped (BaseInt +7)]

Dex - enough for instant cast at least (150 base dex) or add more if you need 500 hit. [stat bonus unequipped (BaseDex +8)]

Luk - add none unless you want a crit Paladin (wtf?) [stat bonus unequipped (BaseLuk +3)]

III. PvP/Individual Character Dueling Guides/Tips

-Paladins are very decent characters. They have high HP, good striking power, and very nice defense. But of course, there is no character that cannot be killed. It would get annoying when you are trying to level then a random character comes in and pounces on you. To avoid getting killed, you must at least have the basic know-how on how your Paladin works.

Using the Battlemode function:

-Battlemode, or popularly known as the /bm command, immediately gives you access to the shortcut bars 1 2 3 from your keyboard without pressing f12. How to use it? refer to this guide for help: <a href="http://forum.forsaken-ro.net/index.php?s=&...post&p=2836" target="_blank">http://forum.forsaken-ro.net/index.php?s=&...post&p=2836</a>

Now you need the following on your hotkeys:

hotkey 1 = the recovery items along with offensive skills.

hotkey 2 = buffs and support spells

hotkey 3 = equipment.

Now, I would recommend getting at least 3 kinds of armors and 2 kinds of weapons when squaring off against other characters. Elemental armors are fine as well, that is, if you dont mind carrying 2-3 armors with you. Wizards can be a pain at times, so be prepared to carry a counter element when you don't have a GTB yet.

Paladin Builds/Theories/Dueling Experience:

Theories/Build Basics:

1. The Holy Cross Paladin - requires a bit of expensive stuff so you might want to readjust your build a bit. You are required to have an Incantation Samurai Card in you weapon (Combined with TG, Valk randgris, or any other cards of your choice), a Fallen Bishop Hibram on your footgear, and 2 STR belts for the Holy Cross can take its full damage potential. Paladins quite costly when in comes to the equipment, but not as expensive as a Sin X. If you don't have those items yet, then you can still resort to a triple bloody boned pike (hydra x3, 1 Skel Worker), and go full Str. Don't forget to add dex for hit. 500 hit should be enough at least. Oh, and Holy Cross is spammable, meaning to say it can hit as fast as your normal DPS (Damage per second). With a decent spam rate, your holy cross is a surefire stunlock killer. I'm sure a Thanatos Card is SERIOUSLY way out of your league right now if you are a beginner, so I won't recommend this just yet. But if you do, you'll work wonders against high DEF players.

**A good alternative build to this would be the Shield Chain build, only instead of focusing on your weapon, you might want to get yourself a good shield with good weight. A heavier shield does larger damage with Shield Chain, hitting approximately for 5k-10k per hit combined with damage modifiers etc. One Kiel card should at least make it highly spammable, making it a very good combo with Holy Cross build (especially when your opponent likes switching from Holy Armor to GR and vice-versa).

2. Sacrifice Paladin - the most common build nowadays. Most Paladins boost their HP to max 300 vit just to attain max damage. Sacrifice is based on the amount of HP your character has. It takes off 9% of your HP for the next five hits and multiplies it up to 1.4 times your Max HP. HP-Boosting equipment is necessary as well as damage boosting gears. You wont need too much dex for this one, since Sacrifice never misses. It also Pierces the defense of the target, so you might want to concentrate on damage modifiers instead. A simple Triple Bloody Boned Pike should be enough to carry at least an average of 15k per hit (meaning to say you'll do around 75k in total against non-ghostring users). With a maxed VIT, you'll be able to do 30k without much of a difficulty. You can always combine Sacrifice with status effects like Freeze and Stone Curse to be able to cancel out the reduction of Deviling/Raydric/GR. Strip armor is fine too, but how you put up a good combo is entirely up to you.

3. Hybrid Paladin - a combination of Holy Cross and Sacrifice paladin, wherein a Paladin can have a mix of both skills for added versatility. You might want to have enough STR and VIT to still be able to dish out massive Sac Damage, while having enough HIT to use Holy Cross in case Sac didn't work. If you can manipulate statuses, then the better. Stone Curse Armor works wonders at times, compared to freeze which can be easily countered by better gears. Except for the Holy Cross build above, the Sacrifice build can be done by almost anyone (unless they are that dumb). Holy cross is fine to with good gears and card combination, and even if you don't have cards and equips mentioned above, you'll still own.

4. The Theoretical Bolt Paladin - Combines the usage of Ice Falchions and Fireblends, along with delay-reducing cards/equips like Kiel-D01 and Expert rings. You might want to take advantage of the INT raise and use Grand Cross, provided that you have Angeling Armor or GTB. While you're at it, you can always heal and then switch to Sacrifice build if you have enough HP. Bolt Paladins could be considered as a Hybrid build as well, since they can also use Sacrifice when magic fails. You might want to have Shield-stripping cards if you want this build to be effective. Another good alternative to this is the Coma build(Lord of Death), but the goal is basically the same... Strip the shield, or strip armor then Sac. Might not be the best (and most stable) build out there, but it could sure do the job with farming and beating up those pesky n00bs.

5. The Remy LeBeau Paladin (Full-Sacrifice Paladin contributed by Damascus) - in my personal opinion, his build mainly targets AD creators. The use of Alice cards and Am Mut greatly increases damage you receive from characters and demi-humans. Sounds complicated? A bit maybe. But I think I've heard of this build somewhere. The main objective if this build is to push the damage limit of AD to the point where its not even possible, THUS disabling damage calculation. Same thing happened in another server when an AD creator had too much INT, making the damage far incomprehensible to be real. The AD animation still happened, but it didn't do any damage at all. That pretty much proves Damascus' point. Instead of reducing the AD damage, you'll greatly increase it to the point where its not even possible to happen [20,000 per hit limit(?)]. But in the absence of overpowered gear, an AD creator cannot reach that damage limit by himself/herself. With a bit of your help, that would come to a reality, thus giving you immunity to AD. But of course, this doesn't mean the build is a pushover to other character builds. Add a few stormy knight cards into your weapon and *coughVITcough*, and you'll be a Sacrifice slaughterhouse. Other statuses like Stone curse will always be a welcome addition to your arsenal of awesomeness. The use of FBH (Fallen Bishop Hibram) is not recommended, so that you can have a bit more balanced damage necessary for your survival. Antique firelocks are better for the footgears. Elemental Armors are essential as well in case you haven't got a GTB yet. The usage of daggers (Main Gauche[4]) are better, since Paladins have bad ASPD with spears. Daggers allows you to save a bit more on AGI points, while still being able to reach 194-195 ASPD. Add a few more VIT or HP increasing equips and you're ready to go. A very good and versatile build that pushes the Paladin class to its full potential.

Other stuff to be added later (Dueling Guides/Misc Stuff/Special thanks/Credits)

I HAVE NOT READ THIS GUIDE I JUST ADD WHAT I THINK YOU DON'T HAVE BUT YOU MIGHT HAVE IT ANYWAYS

Bring Stripping cards, e.g. Metaling, or Wikibine.

Remember to bring devs in Valkryie cloaks if possible.

Bring a multiple weapons.

1. A blade with Valk, LoD, Metaling, and any other status effect cards you have.

2. An edge.

3. A blade with 4x Stormy Knight.

4. Don't use Shrink.

5. A blade with Triple Hydra cards, and a Skeleton Worker.

6. When using 4x Stormy Knight, remember to hotkey shield boomerang because it can freeze from a range.

7. Gospel is useful for getting rid of Strip effects.

Nice guide. It'll be better if you guys add a guide in all the jobs. I know it will take time, but please try to make one. This will really help those person who don't know much in raising a better build.

I'd actually recommend doing what I did on my last server: getting a whole bunch of assorted cards that damage a specific type of monster (3) cards, and one card for size. The major exception to that is the abysmal knight card, which is really good if you have four of them(200% damage against an MvP)

Edit: That's 30 Blades/Falchions/Pikes that you need to buy.

Unfortunately you need weight to carry Yggdrasils so this would fall into impossible for the majority of Paladins.

Only carry the stuff you need because even at 90 str, you can only carry exactly 115 Yggs, 2 armor sets, and 4 weapons. Thats mostly all of it, or at least for me it is.
