CrimzonScythe Posted May 25, 2010 Author Report Posted May 25, 2010 Not quite. Intel Core i3 processor 330M (2.13GHz, 1066MHz FSB) Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD up to 762MB DVMT Screen is HD LED LCD 2Gig Mem 500Gig HDD And it isnt a specific program that freezes, the entire OS freezes, the cursor can move freely but nothing registers and CTRL+ALT+DEL doesnt respond and i have to force a hard re-boot.
Rayray Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 (edited) check your cpu usage via task manager or download process explorer. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb896653.aspx most of the time it is just svhost.exe taking up cpu usage that is why some systems freezes. look up the name of the process, google it or if you know it isn't a windows process, kill it. if it is a windows process and service, restart the process via process explorer. Sometimes, drivers does this so update those. your laptop is far better than mine and I only had that problem once( and I know how to fix it since it is a known bug way back in XP SP2.) if it isn't that, check for viruses. if all else fails, reformat your pc, it's not that much of a problem isn't it. If you hate windows 7, you can always go back to XP or switch to Linux. Edited May 25, 2010 by ZerO25
CrimzonScythe Posted May 25, 2010 Author Report Posted May 25, 2010 My CPU usage isnt the problem. It's the Mem/RAM thats the problem..... Ive got like 4 monitor programs running and they all seem to think something is being DL'd in excessive amounts.... But im not DLing anything and i dont have any virusi cos ive checked all that and ive done at least 5 full scans and 3 quick scans and all they pick up are cookies. So unless i have some kind of super virus or a corrupt core file my runtimes arent picking up im screwed>.< I will check my drivers again tho, and i will DL your processor explorer thingie just to be safe...... Oh, and thanks for the help peoples^^ Much appreciated.
Xtopher Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 3 Things: 1: Where did you get your copy of W7? Did it come on the computer, bought it, or torrented it? 2: Reformat 3: Don't buy Acer
Annie Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Another cheap pc owner blaming it on their os, it's like playing Aion on a 1980 Mac computer and blame it on mac that it doesn't work, give me a break... LOL.
Adum* Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 I would......but it would require lots of munniez or some serious illegal activity>.> Aside from that, im too lazy too bother having to DL and instal another OS and there aint no way imma get a MAC X.X I hate Apple. So, i will just whine and complain about what i have until i either fix it my self or Micrsoft release a patch that fixes it for me. why would you do something illegal just to change your processor? it's just a bit too icky trying to change a laptop processor since most parts in there are really small.

Rayray Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 Although a lot of people seems to be having problems with Acer, I certainly don't but it could be indeed be hardware. Oh and you are using 64-Bit Windows7 right? Correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I know, 64-Bit OS put a lot of strain on your RAM since it uses most of your RAM for it's processes, unlike 32-bit which uses your CPU.(might be wrong though..) So in essence, you need to have more memory. Again, it might be hardware but I didn't have any problems with acer(I had problems with Msi and HP) but what others said is also true, Toshiba is a good brand for laptops(I have a Toshiba Portege t110-p110 for normal use and have a Toshiba Qosmio x500-D830 for gaming.) BOTH got the same bug I mentioned(svhost.exe bug, since it is holding ALL the DLLs of the system) although it is easier to fix since both my OS(win7 home basic and premium respectively) are 32-Bit.

Rayray Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 I cannot think of anything that makes you lag, your processor is way better than my SU2700. check again your cpu usage too.
CrimzonScythe Posted May 26, 2010 Author Report Posted May 26, 2010 (edited) Hmm......more strain..... and it isnt ACER thats the problem, there actualy among the best Laptop brands>.> As ZerO25 sugested, the svchost seems to be doing over time..... Help on that please? Ive never had to actualy uhh...."prevent" a core file before. I used that program ZerO25 offered^^ And stop dissing ACER!! It's a good brand>.> And i got 7 when i bought the Laptop....hmm....i wonder if i can switch it to 32bit?....will check nao. @-R e i, wait.....only NAO you notice it? lol, lag much^^? Edited May 26, 2010 by CrimzonScythe

CrimzonScythe Posted May 26, 2010 Author Report Posted May 26, 2010 You just like makin me feel bad about buying an ACER arent ya>.>? Well it isnt going to work, ive never had a problem with ACER untill now and i wont change....also, i cant afford to change even if i wanted to T.T I wish i had mad 1337 tech skillz and could build a system from scratch with a custom made OS...... but im not that skilled....or at least, i have a mental block and i cant seem to recall if i have teh skillz or not.....damned repressed memories.
-R e i Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 You just like makin me feel bad about buying an ACER arent ya>.>? No, not really.... well I think so... err.. what are we talking about? Anyways.. did you try to complain to the shop about the laptop?
CrimzonScythe Posted May 26, 2010 Author Report Posted May 26, 2010 Nah, not yet....im not exactly in a position where i can just walk down to my local store and get onsite help.... The problem is that i cant play fRO while all this is happening and im having withdrawals. GOD DAMN IT!....you know, this is the first Laptop/PC that i have actualy bought brand new with my own cash..... every other Laptop/PC i have had was preowned and they were all ACER and NONE of them had these problems and they were on almost 24/7 this one is lucky to be on for more than 5 hours and now im lucky to get anymore than 2-3 hours use out of it before it freezes or lags (insanely). I hate life T.T *sigh* imnevergonnagetthisfixed V.V
Xtopher Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 Well if you're not going to accept any other possible reason other than it being W7's fault I would suggest contacting Microsoft support or reformatting. New computers often come with a lot of junk on them that you don't need or use so a reformat would probably help... My friend always completely reformats his new systems as soon as he buys them... ACER isn't the worst brand ever, I just wouldn't suggest buying one... when buying a product like this its always a good idea to look into more than just the specs, but the brand itself and its history
CrimzonScythe Posted May 26, 2010 Author Report Posted May 26, 2010 (edited) I did that.... but money is also a factor, im not rich.... I live off of Centrelink (Australian dole/benefits. I dont work>.>) But now it seems that my CPU and RAM are sharing the work load.....for now..... I just hope it stays that way..... if anything else goes wrong, im screwed. And im not refusing to beleive it could something else other than 7, I have checked and made sure of it. Everything from stock software to stock hardware is running fine, which only leaves the OS unless i have a hidden runtime or super virus thats causing this. It couldnt be the...uhh...."speacial" items im holding cos there offline and in lock down>.> Scratch that, my RAM just commited suicide on me V.V Imma have to get it checked by pro's.... will do as soon as i get the chance to go back to the CBD.
