-R e i Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 Seriously, disable those ALT+"space" codes... You never know what bad things might happen next...
Danny Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 (edited) Lol wasn't this same topic on another Post in the forum. I think its in the rant section. I am not sure. Edited May 18, 2010 by - Edelweiss -
-R e i Posted May 18, 2010 Author Report Posted May 18, 2010 Because, you can copy their name. Alt Space codes are different from Space Bars.. And for example.. If someone wins in SOTW, they just have to copy their names(if there's space) by using those Alt Space.
Danny Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 LOL stop ignoring me! I am just saying that, they are having the same discussion about this Alt+*** on a different post but I forgot where it is. I know the risk. I know the problems. People will abused it. People are going to get ban carelessly. People can take over your lives if you are not careful! I get it. But I agree with the suggestions though, about disabling the special coding.

-R e i Posted May 18, 2010 Author Report Posted May 18, 2010 (edited) Okay... so it has been rejected.... Another Suggestion : Why not make GMs to ask question to those who wants to claim their prize from SOTW or something... So that it would be safe :D Edited May 18, 2010 by -R e i
Apo Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 You can easily script a name change npc and put a global warning and whoever hasnt changed their name with those alt codes after a set amount of time, ban or w/e suits you
-R e i Posted May 18, 2010 Author Report Posted May 18, 2010 Okay... you can do it right? But will Genesis agree?
Apo Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 I doupt Gen would allow me to do such lol, not with what recently happent. But if he does I'll be glad to do it.
-R e i Posted May 18, 2010 Author Report Posted May 18, 2010 @Eld... I'm sorry if you think I'm Ignoring you...
Genesis Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 What Apo is suggesting would not solve the problem, if anything make it worse. Going by his suggestion we would disable ASCII in the client and on the character creation screen, then implement an NPC that modifies the SQL ingame (horribly insecure idea). Thing is, this would still allow ASCII modifications because it bypasses the server (middleman) and goes directly to the SQL. ultramage/Brian [Reputable eA devs] themselves have said they would never modify or create SQL tables from within the game.
