LOL AHH THE ROOT PROBLEM..if they used tradelogs then ppl hu get hacked/scamm wont have to donate no more and no more Q_Qing will be heard and the GMs wont have a Job anymore Q_Q

Weeee~ 40+ screenshots 10 camera angles, 100+ witnesses

one epic quote:

Sorry, Nothing could be done

coming to a cinema near you....

and i saw teh guy 2, name WAS iruga. i was lke =O gms wings ...kewl moves on.

but i rememberd his name, all brown pallete went to dice and was showing em off there 2

Edit:

Lol sry for being so harsh above but really now, i have yet to see someone tell me theyve been hacked./scammed within recent times and managed to get their items redeemed WITH or without evidence. even when the case was clear cut....the absolute last time i witnessed sum1 get back their items with with the Nick incident.

i just find that harshness a bit unfair and i would liek some accountability to this matter

LURN2READRULEZ

Whether you donate or not isn't the issue here, donators should not be given a privilege over non-donators. Trade logs are massive, they get to over 1 GB per day, they are hard to keep because of it's size, if you knew anything about them you would know this Belfegor. So, before you say "LURN2USETRADELOGS" maybe you should LURN2CODE. I am close friends with Shawn but as a GM I cannot give him any privileges over any other player. Dozens of people get their items back from hacked/scammed cases, people simply more likely to complain than to compliment.

LOL for the above but ill give you that, we do not know anything abt the sheer volume of Trade-logs and even less about coding and people ARE more likely to complain than compliment. I cant speak for Anthony here, but my above post was a mild flaming on the basis that at least 3 of my guild-mates got hacked withing the recent week, all posting tickets which returned nothing. I can understand its harsh to get hacked and its not very possible to have evidence of of every or even most items you may have had before the time of your hacking and most of it becomes unaccountable for.

my views on hacking:

again i do not pretend to know trade logs, but i would hope that at times like these a bit of digging can be done especially if trade logs (which they should have) have dates and times attached to them. So if someone reports they were scammed somewhere within the vicinity of a few hours, you should at that time have a general idea of what part of a 1gig, 2gig trade-log to look and again, i'm assuming that trade logs have player ID tags, so with computer aid, couldn't it be possible to trace the said players name within that specific time frame, and then look for any trade and to whom that may have occurred?

and if at that point you find that the trade was transferred to an ID that no longer exists (idk indicative of a character/acc. deletion with said items on it) or to a currently existing player, then follow once again that players trades, to know where the items end up. but at the very least if you get to this stage it should appear that the 'hacked' person

was indeed a legitimate case, and should mostly likely be reimbursed.

i understand people may try to make fraudulent hack cases to acquire more items but this should at least verify a portion of the legitimacy of the situation.

i am also of the opinion of people are more likely to get their items re-reimbursed hackers are less likely to attack them

with the intent to harass or deprive them. and especially if hackers who do get caught are severely punished, less people will want to take the risk of getting hacked. Legal action may even be taken or charges pressed.

i know this must be a lot of work, but i also dont believe people get hacked everyday. i do know that it seems lately, that once someone is hacked, the hacker gets away scotch free.

also, Genesis if you are the Sole Gm that can handle these cases, it may become precedent to appoint other Gms to at least collect the evidence or go through the logs themselves to hand the information to you to make the over-all process easier, that being if it is beyond a scope of work that you may not wish to indulge in.

n.b all i said above are my own speculation on how this process works, so i am just theorizing the process

and have zero idea on how it actually works, this is just my understanding of how it potentially works.

Scamming:

what then on Scammed cases where scammed individuals present screen-shot evidence on the culprits, the deal and the items and every possible criteria you ask for in submitting a ticket. Yeah it may be that a ban is issued on the scammer, but the items don't get returned so its lost anyways, and posting a ticket has come to be nothing more than a means of grudgingly banning someone you KNOW is guilty of scamming you rather than hopefully expecting a redeeming of your items.

Again i cannot speak for all cases, only people who speak to me about these types of issues, yet i'm just saying a LOT have complained about it, and it has come to the state where many believe that submitting a ticket would not even matter anymore.

Kindly, your views on this subject matter

this post is not intended to aggravate anyone in anyway

but still it should at least throw up a few red flags in the direction of the GM team that hackers are again on the loose.

I had a server myself and i can tell you that after the chat and @command logs, the trade log is the most used log especially in a large scale server but I always made daily back ups and named them with the date and uploaded them in a folder to re-use them when concidered necesary. If back ups aren't kept then there's technically no possible way to call back a trade/hack/scam incident from too far behind. Thus you may be unlucky with the result. With that said, item losses are anoying but isn't found back with the blink of an eye, especially not in a TXT server.

yeah thats to be expected with anything

in my above case, i mean timely responses, like happened the second it did, or within a few short hours

but i dont expect anything less than a large volume of data even with that
