PLEASE change the broadcaster to how it was before, where there was different font colors for each section, without that, having multiple broadcasting options (Sell, Buy, Trading, Off Topic) seems silly, I don't think it would take much effort to have this done. Having the broadcaster font color and the PvP Ladder font color be the same color can also be confusing. Please change it how it was before? (: 2. Okay! My suggestion is to limit the number of broadcasts you can do in a certain amount of time. I've seen this done before, and I don't think limiting it would be a bad idea. My suggestion is a one broadcast alloted per 2-3 minutes. This will keep people from spamming the Broadcaster as well as giving other people an opportunity to broadcast what they want to broadcast, without their broadcast being automatically eliminated by someone spamming the broadcaster in desperation. While it is true people could get around this limitation by using multiple accounts/characters, they'd have to put in the effort for this to be done, and not many people would bother doing so. I know it's doable and I believe it will not only limit the spamming dramatically, but give variety in the broadcast per every few lines or so. 3. *New* Third Suggestion - Okay, this just occurred to me, Broadcaster Credit. Basically, when you choose to broadcast, you can buy broadcasting credits, which means you pay up front, for example 5 million, and from any character you choose to use on your account, they have 5 broadcasts, which are prepaid. I know that coins and transferring zeny exists, but sometimes you want to broadcast right away when you make a new character or have no zeny on said character, and with BC credits you have pre-paid broadcasts which any character on your account can take advantage of. The first one beacuse I get confused with all the broadcasts for selling buying and trading and the fridays when PVP ladder resets, and if the broadcaster gives you the choices of whether if you want to Sell Buy ot Trade why not give the colors so people can know exactly what your intentions are?. The second because im not the kind of people that looks at his chat room I just read whats in the screen and if it fades away It not a big deal for me, but sometimes there is people that get's like desperate to sell some stuff and just abuse the broadcaster or makes other peoples broadcast fade away wich normally makes the others re-broadcast.
Exhibition Posted March 16, 2010 Author Report Posted March 16, 2010 No, a timer on the broadcaster based on per broadcast basis is not a good idea, an individual person timer I think would be best. It could be a short amount of time in which they're limited from broadcasting, like 30 seconds - 1 minute. I think being able to broadcast right away after just having broadcasting is abusive. I just want to limit spamming and give poorer players who can't afford to spam broadcasts to have their broadcasts seen without them being erased by a spammer/person with more zeny than them. It was nice to distinguish between the different broadcast categories back when it was color coordinated.

Can be looked into by modifying the source, but not a big fan of doing so (creating possible bugs), can't guarantee anything here. The timer seems reasonable per character/account, not a delay/timer on it per user. It could be troublesome for someone who wants to broadcast 5x and the other person once, it seems wrong and that other person could have to wait for about 10-15 minutes instead of sending his/her message across the server when he/she wants to. Or do you players disagree and want it to have a timer per user/broadcast?
supream Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 timer per use would be fine. since having a timer per person dosent solve the problem of people cutting your broadcast short. also if someone just times it so they are the only one broadcasting wont they just run out of zeny. Also, wouldnt that be considered broadcast abuse?

It might look like a good idea to some of the people here but I think it might make the game a tad complicated by adding more rules to it(Abuse broadcasting has never really bother me, I would just report it :P) Every suggestion has it own consequences, although I must agree upon that it is confusing sometimes, when you are telling apart from a normal Broadcast and that of a Pvp Broadcast. This quotes scares me the most because I don't want to get more bugs for the game than it already has. We are still having problems with other bugs which haven't been properly fixed.

Seems a lot neater as well. But I don't see how that would prevent all the spamming. :( What I had in mind was only having every account or character to have a certain amount of broadcasts per hour or day. Maybe like a 2 minute delay, not so long, just like the duel delay. I'm not sure though. The broadcaster never bothers me.

I agree it makes much more sense to have them color coded. 2. We can look into doing this as well. 3. I think the megaphone idea is more viable than having broadcaster credit.
