Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 ok first off just to say 1. sorry 2. im stupid, i just realized i accidently posted this in the "accepted" section. please forgive my stupidity and over look that, but i thought i would put it in the right section this time :P i've always wanted a means for the younger audience to donate not only on this server but on any. There are i'm sure a number of people that can't donate with a credit card because they simply dont have one, or their parents may not let them. Also sending money through the mail is never safe given its unreliability, and generally people don't have a western union station. the solution? SMS payment! I'm sure at least 95% of people have a cell phone, making payments through sms is quick easy and reliable. not only would it allow a younger audience access to those oh so wanted items, but it would most likely increase FRO's income. I see more and more places allow donations through a simple text message (fiesta online, pay by cash, etc) perhaps FRO should join them? yes? no? flameD:?
Adum* Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 You don't need a credit card when you're using paypal. As long as you have a bank account, you can use paypal -given that you're bank is part of paypal.

There isn't much western union branch, I barely see any where I live actually. Well personally I won't trust normal mail when sending money, like he said "Also sending money through the mail is never safe given its unreliability (volcom)"

Anyway, would it be more expense for Gen if he's going to have sms as a way to pay? And how do you think this will work? - I mean the process, because I don't quite get it.

Posted January 6, 2010 Author Report Posted January 6, 2010 its a VERY simple process available to anyone who has a cell phone much like paypal you indicate how much you would like to donate, you would then go to the SMS provider and enter your cell phone number. the SMS provider would then send you a payment confirmation text message where you would confirm this is indeed the right number and you would like to pay. the price indicated would then be added to your monthly cell phone bill to be payed at the end of the month, making a simple way for credit card/western union lacking FRO'ers to donate. (i make it sound much more complicated than it is really)

Posted January 6, 2010 Author Report Posted January 6, 2010 1. that is a good point, but im sure many minors' parents would be more likely to charge to a phone bill than a credit card 2. i forget what specfically, but some SMS providers (i.e Boku mobile payment) offer options for prepaid users and as far as expense goes for gen, im not sure. im my opinion this SMS payment method could prove profitable, but im not sure if you have to pay the provider a fee or what, im not the gm here lol :x
