I got the item far before you did (my friend donated it for me on my birthday, which was around August) and we asked the higher-ups to place the correct sprite for it but it never happened. It's not just this particular item, it's others too (can't exactly remember which).

Problem seems to be the resname tables. Once I'm done with what I'm doing now I'll see if I can extract the latest one from the kRO GRF. This would mean you do not need to download anything besides the text patch we'd release. Note: This should fix the other hats looking like that as well.
