luisdgs19 Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 Hey , i've been playing FRO for about a month and i've noticed that i only lagg when server has 300+ People , When it has 0-250 i play PERFECTLY and i downloaded a software that checks my connection and it's not a conenction problem it seems that when server has a lot of people maybe it run out of ram or i dont know because it doesn't send a thing for me to recieve. So what i suggest is: 1. Constant server restart : Maybe 1 hour before each WOE or something , AFK people , Venders will all log out so server will have less people. 2.Get more RAM or w/e is needed for the machine to don't lagg. ( this is only if is financial able. ) 3.If server is hosted with same as download , you could host the download another place , if it's not ok then. A lot of you people will say "I don't lagg , this is his problem only." Please keep in mind that you and me are not living in the same place so maybe i'm too far with a higher pin. Regards , Menor.
Kusanagi Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 1- Good idea, yet as far as Im aware only 2 people can do that (or 1?), it doesnt take too long but well if theres a reason for the @uptime command removal it should be so that people cant complain about such. 2- Its most likely that its a host server, as such they cant add more ram but they can change the host plan, however doing that means that the host will move the data into another server wich can take from 30 minutes to a few hours in the worst case scenario... I dont see it that bad, yet then theres the need of money... LOL not happening. PS: the server isnt that bad anyway =S 3- Yeah maybe... only they know. *4- * Ping times depend on where the hell you are but in the end 100-120 pinging times are good enough for smooth play, when the server lags those who are on the very edge of that (those who are far from the server) they lag, those who are close will have higher ping times but it will not be easy to notice since its most likely they will be still under smooth going. *5*- This is a suposition but maybe they are doing changes in the DB wich we cannot see and thats causing the server to lag?
Genesis Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 1. That would only apply if the server was using all of it's possible resources. At peak hours, it reaches 8%, that leaves 91% unused so no, your lag experience is not caused by this. 2. Same thing as above. 3. The website/download server/game server are all hosted on different boxes.
n i k k o Posted December 5, 2009 Report Posted December 5, 2009 The lag doesnt rely just on these how good your connection is. the closer you are to the server the less lag. i live in cali and my lag isnt that bad only lag during woe and once in a blue moon a lagspike but peopel in Philippines have lags due to how far so depending on how far you are is to take into consideration /effects during woe do this and no lag what so ever. even at the emp so yeah just when u play fro good idea to take down other programs ur using :]
gerrard mino Posted December 5, 2009 Report Posted December 5, 2009 but he does bring up a good point about restarting the server just before woe so that all the afk venders can be kicked and it will let some other people get on and whatever. but the only problem about a server restart would be the respawn of mobs. i can see how that could be an advantage to some and a disadvantage to others.
n i k k o Posted December 5, 2009 Report Posted December 5, 2009 Wow great Point Minor or whatever to lazt to scroll down to check ur name but yeah mob spwns and stuff but exactly some vendors are on forever so why ruin it this hasnt fucked up the server before being woeing for a long time and no real lag
