Basilica Fails

Recommended Posts

This was in the Rant section but I believe it deserves serious attention.

Basilica is bugged and needs to be fixed. Not only can Tarot Cards break through it, Lord Knights can use charge attack to push party members out of the safe area then attack them. This completely defeats the purpose of the skill as the ultimate defense.

And don't give me crap about not being able to fix broken skills, because for example: If Asura was AOEing you guys would be all over that in a heart beat.

The change in the skill annoys everyone and none likes it...it kinda killed the whole porpouse of the skill. However, it is now impossible to change it back apparently.

Actually, the skill is fixable. If you know how to code, you could fix the skill itself without breaking / interfering with other skills. If you don't know how to, it's going to break some other skills. The fact we're being told its unfixable is complete bull. If noone has the knowledge to fix the skill, atleast change the description. It says a complete defense to ALL people inside the Basilica box, but it does not provide that.

I have a VERY hard time believing this.

Out of all of the staff members on this server, someone has to know how to code this properly.

Becoming a GM doesn't make you a programmer, lol...

I know that, but it seems that at least one of the many staff members would have the useful talent.

Actually, the way eAthena was coded is that bits and pieces of it are scattered over a series of files, making rewriting skills a potential risk ( making certain conditions not meet causes a series of crashes ). The problem isn't that no one knows how to do it ( I along with a few others know C ) the problem is the ongoing issues that it would cause which is why we prefer to not modify it. Going around saying "If you know how to code, you could fix the skill itself without breaking / interfering with other skills." and "If you don't know how to, it's going to break some other skills." isn't accurate at all as I've mentioned above the issue is not C knowledge, the issue is how eA is coded from the ground up and with their devs constantly adding sloppy/unfinished code it's probably only going to get worse...
