Terroryst Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 Alright, so I got challenged to a GFX battle. Basically a small SOTW. We post, you vote. AppleDew says he was experimenting so if you don't like it, don't be harsh. Here's mine Here's AppleDew's Let the votes begin. Same rules as SOTW apply. Voting ends on Wednesday.
no1i Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 Nice, you're both good, but I like AppleDew's better his use of colors fits with his render perfectly. So I say, everyone vote for AppleDew. :jerry:
CombatMuffins Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 I dislike apples choice of font. I vote for nightmares.
Kittie Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 I vote for Nitemare92. AppleDew's font and size of watermark is really big...and stands out too much. It really distracts me from the rest of the composition since the color of it draws me into the corner instead of the picture as a whole. Nitemare's is dynamic and really captures the essence of Sonic...the motion blur representing his speed. Although, one little critique for you: is the motion blur behind the background (the blue block) in the right lower corner? Kinda looks funky to me.
Ethereal Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 Personally, I'd have to say Nitemare's is the best, although both of them have parts that they could improve in. Nitemare's - like Kittie said, the motion blue captures the essence of Sonic's speed. But my only problem is that the background lacks depth in my opinion. Personally, I would have liked to see more colors of Sonic in the background, such as red or green ( color of Sonic's eye ). So looking at it, it seems to me that it looks a little boring. The text could use a little more work too, but it's good. AppleDew - Personally, text like that for a watermark is way too big. I would have to say like a small serif font or a pixel/bitmap font would be perfect for a watermark. Since this is like a Sonic-theme GFX battle, I would have to say you need to focus more on the render. The background doesn't support the render, not giving it any life. Plus, I would've liked to see the render a little more brighter too so it could stand out. The effects are alright, and I also would have liked to see a little more color too. Also if you look at the render, it's facing like at a side-ways direction, so for these type of renders, you wouldn't place them in the center but a little more to the left or to the right ( depending on which way the render's facing. ) So great work to the both of you.

I motion blurred twice, once about 38 density and the next was like 100+ density. Both were over sonic and didn't include the background because I hid it. Thanks for all the votes btw.
Terroryst Posted October 14, 2008 Author Report Posted October 14, 2008 I vote for Nightmare92. IT'S NITEMARE, DAMNIT.
Lenik Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 IT'S NITEMARE, DAMNIT. ...:'D! I vote for NIGHTMARE.
Zeitgeist Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 IT'S NITEMARE, DAMNIT. At this point you should consider a name change.
Red Otis Mapp Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 Not my fault..I kinda have an auto-correct in my head, and the fact that i'm somewhat blind adds to the excuse ;]
