Zeitgeist Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 People who debate the existence of a God are not dumb. On the contrary, some of them are regarded as the highest intellectuals alive. It is quite the subject, as it involves how the universe began, how the planet Earth came about, etc. Nothing more than trends. Even if they could prove the existance of God or viceversa, what's the point? People follow (or should follow) the ideals that the religions represent in their holy texts, not a figure or a person.
Jer Flip Posted September 18, 2008 Author Report Posted September 18, 2008 Nothing more than trends. Even if they could prove the existance of God or viceversa, what's the point? People follow (or should follow) the ideals that the religions represent in their holy texts, not a figure or a person. People should "follow" what they view as truthful. I may agree to what Christianity represents (as a form of morals and ethics, for the most part), but I'm no Christian.
Sensation Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Commenting (not debating, answering or whatever) his thoughts could be done so easy and avoids all the problems here. "k that's your opinion"
Jer Flip Posted September 18, 2008 Author Report Posted September 18, 2008 This thread has pretty much derailed. It went from a rant about idiots to... this.
Ryoji Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Guess someone should of put their topic a little better? Eh? *notes he's been saying that since his first post* Am I hinting enough for you? 0r shud i sendz 1t 2 ur P/v\z? =oooo
Sorrow Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Relligion is a very touchy subject isn't it? ^^ And complicated too. There are people who believe a certain person is their messiah, there are people who consider only parts of a holy text to base all their rules for their beliefs, there are people with tribal rituals that are as ancient as the most famous holy texts. Rules differ so much that it's impossible to know in what to believe sometimes, and in the middle of all this ruckus there are those who don't believe anything... Seriously, forcing beliefs into one is pointless. If you think a religious person saying that you're wrong about your conduct of having no beliefs, try to see a debate between two convict relligious people of different sects trying to force their beliefs one into the other...it's...it's...another level...XD
Ryoji Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 I believe I am god in a self aware subconcious ego. =D Lololol. MultiVerse one too!!!11 Omnipotent ftw?

Sensation Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Religion; easily disprovable, yet widely believed to be true. Yes it is. I hate religious debaters who think atheists are the ones who need to make the counter-point. "What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence" is my motto. The opposite probably will think the same about atheist debaters, who say that the religious people need to prove there is something. And your motto works both ways. Your topic answered with quoting the lines stated you said and the answer below the quotes. There shouldn't be any misunderstanding now. And it's still your view on this subject, I accept it as it is, nothing to add.
Jer Flip Posted September 18, 2008 Author Report Posted September 18, 2008 And your motto works both ways. Your topic answered with quoting the lines stated you said and the answer below the quotes. There shouldn't be any misunderstanding now. No, it does not work both ways. When a theory is brought to the table, it must always come with a basis. I can't enter a debate and conjure up a religion without giving any basis or proof, and then ask the people to disprove it. It simply doesn't work that way.
Sieg Heart Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 0r shud i sendz 1t 2 ur P/v\z? =oooo oh men! 1337 speek! i havent read any of posts here really.
Icarus Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 To be honest, the only thing that I love in all religions is Churches and Cathedrals. The fact that people made such structure in the name of god is amazing.
Defiance Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 From where I came from, people also made money in the name of God. In fact, we might possibly be the country with the most religions. /heh "What are those pamphlets for? No, I ain't taking those even if it comes with a free bag and keychain. Sorry, we already have a religion."
-Insane- Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 I honestly don't give half a fuck about the actual topic, but I do quite enjoy seeing Ryoji and Jer Flip making themselves look like idiots. Except Ryoji cause he's awesome. Go Ryoji!
Berserk. Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 Yep. It is a tool to help better oneself. No, it's a tool to cotrol you, deprive you of your true will and brainwash you to oblivion. I strongly advise you guys to watch Zeitgeist: The Movie (Google vid would do).

Berserk. Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 It depends on how you choose to follow the religion. Indeed, key word being "follow."
Jer Flip Posted October 4, 2008 Author Report Posted October 4, 2008 It depends on how you choose to follow the religion. If you "use religion to better yourself", you're not really believing in the religion. You're subscribing to a fucking self-betterment center and missing the point of your religion. Have you ever read the bible? I'm assuming you were raised in the Christian faith?
Zeitgeist Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 You've got to love how each of every animal, in both of their genders, were in Noah's Ark vicinity.
Berserk. Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 I also like the part where all of earth was under water and how the water fell off the edge of the earth slowly after 40 days or so. Man... I wish my grandpa was as cool as Noah. He'd be able to tame a cute lion for me.
Jer Flip Posted October 5, 2008 Author Report Posted October 5, 2008 I love how the earth is 6000 years old, give or take a thousand.
