Terminus Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 I have too many but favorite is Panic! At the Disco Now, tell me again, why are they your favourite. Avenged Sevenfold ( A7X ) papa Roach Disturbed Nickelback Crush 40 Simple Plan Anarchy Club Favorite Song at this time: A7X - Dear God Disturbed is alright. Everything you have there is pretty mainstream. Goths that I know hate that stuff. No offense but I don't like it either ;o.

Impulse Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 Now, tell me again, why are they your favourite. Disturbed is alright. Everything you have there is pretty mainstream. Goths that I know hate that stuff. No offense but I don't like it either ;o. i dont get why you muggin' people cause of the style of music they like. not everyone likes the same music as terminus, they aint you. so why you mean muggin for? get off their balls.
Impulse Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 I like everything from .. Elvis to The Wu Tang Clan Sublime to E-Z-Motha-Fk'n-E nice to know somebody else knows real hip-hop. :>
Nate. Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 Since there is TOO many to list, I'll just name 1 of my faves from a genre. Lil Wayne - Hip Hop Rise Against - Rock Asian Kung Fu Generation - Japanese Rock
Terminus Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 i dont get why you muggin' people cause of the style of music they like. not everyone likes the same music as terminus, they aint you. so why you mean muggin for? get off their balls. I was going to say the same thing (not in those words though). But seriously, what is your aim in telling other people that their music isn't "right?" Musical preference is that - a preference. This is a "what bands do you like?" thread, not a "judge me and the bands I listen to" thread. No one is imposing on YOUR taste in music by having a different one than you. Leave it alone. I already know I do this. It's something I do. I have a problem with mainstream music and I know it. A hardcore fan of metal understands one another. I don't expect anyone else here to. Metal is something you find beneath it's shell. Having my own opinions spoken in public doesn't break any rules does it?

Thunderowl Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 Slipknot and Lamb of God doesn't deserve to be placed alongside those bands >> I lol'd at Sum 41 and Blink 182. Heres to Blink 182. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvIwauatNKo >.>, I'm not a total metal head, sum and blink are classic xD. Now, tell me again, why are they your favourite. Disturbed is alright. Everything you have there is pretty mainstream. Goths that I know hate that stuff. No offense but I don't like it either ;o. AHAHAHHAHA Agreed. I agree with everything above. I already know I do this. It's something I do. I have a problem with mainstream music and I know it. A hardcore fan of metal understands one another. I don't expect anyone else here to. Metal is something you find beneath it's shell. Having my own opinions spoken in public doesn't break any rules does it? If you guys are so insecure about someone posting an opinion about what music YOU posted, then why post. You know your going to get feed back about your music positive or negative, if you don't like it stop posting simple. What I AM doing is not breaking rules, just making ME look like a pretentious d-bag Fixed your post =)
Thunderowl Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 Lol Thunderowl, why would the people that have no shame in posting what they listen to even when others feel the need to ridicule it be the "insecure" ones? The insecure people are the ones who need constant validation by putting others' tastes down to make themselves feel/look "cooler" and more "badass." And if you're going to try to make Impulse look bad, look who actually made the post about Terminus in the first place. It was ME. I'm the "pretentious dbag." Nice try though. Before you make posts trying to sound like you know what you're talking about, read and analyze a little. I applaud your attempts at trying to defend something someone is doing that is completely unnecessary, pretentious, and ridiculous, though. n_n Now my sinsues hurt, thanks buddy. I'm done though, idc what defense people have for being rude. There's nothing more I think I can say in response to that. :/ Add these bands (idk if I posted them already): Cex Why? Buzzcocks Final Fantasy It was never my intent to make Terminus look bad i always knew you where the "Pretentious D-bag" ;) witch from the post above you have proved. The insecure ones are the ones who take what people say to seriously, What you explained where more of a "Bully" then an insecure person. I was not defending nor attacking anyone simple posting my opinion. Being rude?
Thunderowl Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 Not Terminus, I said Impulse. For the love of God, READ. Oh sorry if i made another boo boo :(. I will give you a lil bit more to go cry about it and then come back and make another ridicules post about me not being able to read :).
Impulse Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 lol. where the fuck did you get insecure from? no one was being insecure. just merely the fact that someone feels the need to adverse one's taste in music. which imo is really pointless cause everybody's taste is different, no matter how many similar things a person have in common with someone. every person is different. didnt mean to put terminus on spot, just didnt think that the matter would be out of proportion. i thought it would be just a 1, 2, 3, thing ya know?

You are correct everyone taste in music is different. If one person has a opinion about the music you listen to and you don't like it don't mean you have to go and bitch about it. Insecure Ex: "I hate your taste in music" a complete stranger says, the other person takes it seriously and does A. Change there music. B. Bitch about it. That clear it up =] Sorry i didn't mean to put my self on the spot just people bitching at my opinion.
Impulse Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 god damn youre like an itch on my back that i cant reach to scratch. you don't even know what the fuck you are talking about so please can you take your head out of your ass to get a breath of fresh air? i swear, what is up with these arrogant, egotistical newcomers wanting to run the show? and i know what insecure is dipshit, i just dont think you dont because how you use it here doesn't make sense.

Listen i am sorry that YOU started this argument. I don't know what I'm talking about? Shit I'm sorry please let me make it up to you for hurting your feelings on a forum :(. Arrogant, egotistical newcomers? Did you have to use a thesauruses for these words? You amazed me i thought you where just a little kid =). So far on this forum I have started no arguments i made a comment on what some people said and little fucking shits like you think you run the place and have to, well do what your doing right know =D. I'm not going to sit here and let myself get made look like a fool by people like you. On that note your probably going to go google another fancy word come back post it so it makes sence and all i will have to do is comment myself =], making my life much easier. I didn't know this forum was so fun =).
Impulse Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 no arguement was started and no, i did not search any fancy word on the thesaurus. im literate enough to know and use extensive vocabulary to defend my point. im a little fucking shit? lol this is why people are more egotistical over the internet, there wouldnt be any price to pay.

For once i agree with everything you say. Guess I'm going to put an end to this it was fun =].
Terminus Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 Lol, I'm a fan of metal (including some of the bands you listen to) and yet I have no problem with mainstream music because no one is FORCING me to listen to it. You're not forced to listen to it on your own time, so why should anyone else have to adapt their tastes to yours on THEIR own time? You're making it so that it's not a matter of your opinion, but some sort of fact that whatever you don't like or approve of is automatically no good. Seriously.. it's pointless, lol. What you're doing is not breaking rules, just making you look like a pretentious d-bag, which there really is no excuse for. Maybe that broke the rules, but idc. What kind of metal do you like then? Pop metal? Rap metal? Mainstream music is shit. It's not good. It's been changed and deformed from it's true image to fit the views of the majority of the people who like that stuff. Who said I was forced to listen to anything? I fucking hate mainstream bands. It's like how some people hate broccoli, and some people fucking love it. I never said to adapt to my tastes; all I was doing was stating that those bands suck and should die. Seriously, I am doubting that you listen to real metal. As I read before, you "liked" real metal, real metal fans don't just go from one song to another. If you love Slayer, you love it for life. It's not like "Oh, I liked Metallica last summer, now I like Soilwork". By listening to metal, you get a deep chill down your spine. If that doesn't happen, then you don't have the metal in you. Oh, and yeah, if I don't approve it, that does mean that I think it's no good. I think it doesn't make me look like a pretentious d-bag. If you went to a Slayer concert saying you prefer mainstream over underground? You'd get your ass beat. Metal is in the blood. You live it, you breathe it, you spread it. It's a sickness. It's like saying you're a Jew in front of Hitler. You'd get killed.
Terminus Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 If you read what I said, I said I listen to some of the bands you like. No not "rap metal" or "pop metal." Want to know something? Metallica and Slayer are mainstream. Being "metal" doesn't exclude them from the label. They (and similar bands) are well known by the masses and have HUGE fanbases. Enter Sandman? Who hasn't heard it? Their music is popular. Want to know a short, cute term for popular music? Pop. What I listen to on my own time has no effect on what you listen to on your own time. Thus, that is why I do not feel the need to put you down nonsensically by insulting what you clearly like and feel pretty strongly about. Want to know a little secret? I don't like a lot of what you listen to. Did I feel the need to point that out when I know there is nothing I can do that will change your mind about how important your music is to you? No. Now seriously? Shut up. It's pointless with me. I've heard enough from metal fans thinking they're the be all and end all of everything, and honestly? None of them are. Including you. Get OVER yourself. Apparently you understimate the passion people have for their taste in music or favorite bands/solo artists even if they're not metal enthusiasts. I "live, breathe and spread" the music I listen to, too. It's not just a metal thing. I listen to bands and solo artists that *gasp* you haven't heard of. Does that make me cooler, more ~obscure~ and ~unique~ than you? No. I could give a CRAP about whether or not people know what I'm listening to. So I'm listening to some indie band and you've heard of them but someone else hasn't. Does it matter that you know? Not really. Does it matter that you think they suck and should die? Not really. And you know what? I've BEEN to metal concerts (that I thorougly enjoyed) with my friends that are complete metal heads. I KNOW what metal is, you don't have to explain it to me. This reminds a friend of mine who used to listen to indie music but got fed up with the protentious scene and ideal that the more obscure your music is, the "cooler" you are. I had to explain to her that she had no idea how much worse metal fans are. I'm glad the poor girl didn't have to know first hand. So I have metal on my playlist and I like it. But right now? I'm living, breathing, Bright Eyes. Yes, the anti Christ to metal himself - Conor Oberst. Will that get me punched in the face by a metal fan? Maybe. Once again, what does it matter? Oh that's right. It doesn't. So stop. You can have the last word if you want, I'm not in the mood anymore after typing that all up and knowing it probably won't penetrate your sad little skull and you will probably continue saying DISTURBD SUX PATD SUX UR BANDS SUX. Yeah, I like Slayer and Metallica, before their mainstream work. People use them as excuses to like Metal. Just like how people say they like Slayer from playing Raining Blood on Guitar Hero. Just because they can name a few songs doesn't mean they like it. Oh, and all genres of music have a huge fanbase, does that make all music pop? No. I didn't say that just because you know bands no one has heard of makes you better than someone else. You could listen to some shitty band that no one has ever heard of and you would still listen to shitty music. I disagree with other people's taste in music due to it being utterly horrible. I don't say I'm cooler just because I know some bands others don't. You're only assuming I'm doing so. Yes, I do know you don't like what I listen to. Most people don't. I love it when people say they don't like my music, it makes me energized and aggressive. Metal is about belonging to a cult that's different from others, yet has people to relate to. Plus, I don't give a fuck if you don't change what music you listen to, I just feel so strongly about what others listen to that I have to criticize it with my own emotions flowing through my "sad little skull". Seriously, I don't care if you've been to metal concerts, so have I. Being in a mosh pit with people you connect with makes you feel like puking (which is awesome). If you know what Metal really is, you wouldn't be arguing with me. You'd agree that mainstream sucks. Oh, and if your friends are metal heads, you would understand my views on metal the same as they do? Thing is, there is no "anti Christ to metal", Conor Oberst can go to hell for all I care. Radical metal views won't ever fade and neither will it's music. Wait, if you like metal, and you're listening to the so called "anti Christ to metal", wouldn't that be a bit of a contradiction towards your musical views? That's probably why my words don't seem to be understood. I know my words won't ever penetrate your useless thick mind so there's no reason to really continue this. Disturbed is alright, before they released their new album, and srsly, metal needs a better definition. Instead of just being about guitars, drums, amps, and a sound. It should be about rebellion and defiance. Also, being punched by a metal fan would matter. Medical aid? Brain damage? I know you'd never see my point of view, and never understand a radical metalist, it's like how a guy won't fully understand a girl. Your music makes me fall asleep (it really does). It's boring, has feeling into it, but it has no emotion. It's an empty shell that only touches the surface. You don't have to dig really deep to find anything into it. It's there. Anyways, I find that this arguement is pointless, and shouldn't have been brought up. If you really knew that typing all that won't do anything, then why bother? You'll only provoke myself more; which would create a chain.

You'll only provoke myself more; which would create a chain. I agree with this, i know people who use those two bands as a excuse just because of guitar hero and yes it makes me mad as well. Everyone has a different taste. Your not stepping out of line when you post a comment on a forum, its simple your opinion on the subject, like i am doing now. 1. I agree with the first comment on disturbed. 2. Metal definition is fine as is, what you said Medical aid? Brain damage? Metal is more then these things its only what people who don't understand and listen to this music don't understand how good it is. 3. I disagree with the state of you saying another music has no emotion. Yes metal has lots in it (all you need to do is read the lyrics) but other artist still bring emotion in when they create/sing a song.
Impulse Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 i think this discussion is kind of pointless. for every genre of music you will always find, see a person preaching how much the music they're into inspire them, motivates them, how much its different from other music, how much its different from your music and mine.
