rei Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 hello peeps i have got a project on shortage of rice which was a month back ago my question is during the 2010 youth olympic which is held in my country, singapore. how do we feed the athletes and visitors comnig to singapore for the games,while makng sure theres enough or ourselves? i hav come up with a suggestion or 2 on my own we can increase the price of food that contains rice as part of the ingredient pros: the demand for rice-ingredient food would be lower cons: due to complains of rie-ingredient food price hike, futures events might not be hosted in singapore usage of potato or noodles to cover the rice portion pros: this way we wont have problem with the shortage of rice cons: visitors or athletes might not want potato or noodles,instead they might want rice E.G they want to eat "lasi lemak" (rice +side ingredent like chicken wing,otah,etc) hope u guys can post some ideas as to how to solve the problems during the 2010 youth olympic which is held in my country, singapore. how do wef eed the athletes and visitors comnig to singapore for the games,while makng sure theres enough or ourselves?

They're making it look like that those "naturally-produced" rice has been decreasing so that you'll be forced to buy those "Genetically-made" ones. /pif Even Global Warming isn't real. *sigh* People these days. Maybe if you could buy rice from Thailand at lower price...gosh but the greedy gov't would probably inflate the price if they know you're short on rice...I'd be pissed if that happen. And yes, I hate that Arroyo for what I've heard from Filipinos I've talked to. It's no different here in my country, a gov't who doesn't care for its own people and suck up our taxes while making telltales to keep people at bay. === And Arcane, if you didn't mean sarcasm in the Global Warming part...I'd have to differ. It may be used to support some agendas, but I think it's happening, global warming is real...CO2 and greenhouse effect is real. In Thailand we're getting daily heavy storms in late April when actually it should start by mid-June, and all the weather afflictions is what made me believe. P.S. I just feel thankful to see more people who actually aware of the sickness of the society. I hate to see how brainwashed Thai people are...

Most of the people here just want to take out presidents then when another one gets elected, they want to impeach him/her again. It's a tiresome and annoying cycle that we should seriously stop. It's getting annoying and I can almost see a pattern here.

No difference here, no difference here. The Thai military junta even went as far as explicitly advertising that they're doing everything for the King even though they swiped $300million into the army and didn't do shit but let the economy die. Then there is Samak, who also didn't do shit (he DOES talk shit, though) but trying to alter the constitution to benefit himself. Good thing I'm working for the Ministry of Labor right now and haven't smell anything fishy yet....

They would do anything for money. Global Warming is real, I don't get money for saying "OMG DERZ GLOBAL WARMINGZ". But you don't see Global Warming in that light. There was Global Warming before machines were even built, Global Warming raises the Earth's temperature by 1 degree every 100 years. Of course, that is by natural causes, with pollution and such, it should increase the temperature substantially. Also,the Philippines are trying to purchase 200+ Tons of rice to fix the shortage of rice, however, if they do not find a decent sized price for it, rice won't be bought for the Philippines which increases the price for the shortage. The Harper government is like a Bush JR. The Stéphane opposition is weak but has support. Strange how we hate the Harper government, but yet thinks the other side is weak. Anyways, I'm not that big on the rice thingy, but apparently Vietnam is one of the largest rice producers or something. I got my rice, so I'm happy.

Actually Philippines can be a good country because its always summer there you can always plant corn which you can use as a gasoline or plant rice so i think the "RICE" problem in Philippines is a lie and if the ppls in government are smart they will use Philippines weather as an advantage and about Gloria shes hawt ROFL just joking ><

The sun will get larger and cooler in time. However, we won't be able to see any significant change or any change at all of the Sun's size, since the Sun is approximately gone through half of its life. Just saying that makes you wonder, how long was the solar system around? Billions of years ago? More? Please, the sun will not become a black hole. Its too small to be a black hole. Our Sun will become a White Dwarf in the future. No, its not the fault of people for the cause of global warming. Its the cause of time and the Earth itself.

The big industrial corporates who release tons of CO2 daily, release boiling water into the rivers and release CFC into the atmostphere should do something about it. The GOV'T should do something about it like building more recycling depots and compost sites to turn organic trashes into mass-produced EM-products. The department stores should do something about it and replace plastic bags for organic/brown paper bags AND provide fabric bags rental service. But us, we can contribute without doing it out of fear and with all those extra spendings like what the media said. Those who actually are causing global warming are blaming it on us consumers and it is all wrong... people should do nothing about it: true, but SOME PEOPLE have to.
