Dave Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 I would say NO they would be classiefied as 3rd party programs that help or give an advantage to a player,so they would be illegal to use,having said that i do think people use them too. Its like Buff bots,they were not supposed to be used anymore but people still do it.
geldaz Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 Macro has nothing to do with buffbots. Why do you think even BLIZZARD made macro's to be used in their OFFICIAL servers? I don't think there's any problems with macro's. It's nothing compared to bots or a 3rd party program.

Sensation Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 Macro is a 3rd Party program. So it is wrong to be used, it's against the rules and is strictly forbidden. Blizzards choice of macro isn't the same as the macro which can be (ab)used here in RO. The main problem with these programs is, that we would need to prove it. Packet flooding will be prevented soon and other improvements. It's already almost impossible, but people always seem to find a way around it. We'll keep improving our security and you'll be informed about it in the near future.

They save an action sequence (e.g. Dangerous Soul Collect -> TSS -> Dangerous Soul Collect) and just keep on repeating it. You end up with a super-fast spam. It's an advantage against other players, thus considered as third party programm and thus illegal.

They are sometimes created by carrying out the sequence once and letting the application record the actions. And there's other macro's that help in your game experience such has Ragnarok Map (( Whole one)) with dots pointing for the NPC's,macro's where you type a item and it shows who vends/drops it. The 2nd one is far from beeing illegal,otherwise 8 million people would be banned from WoW. But yeah,macro's that are made for sequence are illegal and should be punished for.
