I forget how to change the brush color manually to a different #.

Help.

First make sure it's not a bmp file. Select the layer and put it into another document. Right click on the layer with the brush drawn on and go to color overlay & work from there for a specific color. You can also work with hue/saturation or color balance under image>adjustments.
