Stranger Posted November 23, 2014 Report Posted November 23, 2014 Hey guys :th_bo: , i was just farming for zeny in the game... and it hit me. An idea for an event. Let a GM announce a particular map location for the players to warp to. Then in that particular map the GM names a monster (the map must have a variety of monsters). The GM then announces a particular item to be acquired by killing this particular monster. There will be a time limit set for each round, say 3 minutes? The person who collects the largest amount of this particular item in the time limit set wins the round. So this is my Idea. :th_no1: Hope you guys like it. Please leave any more suggestions if any come to mind. And please no vulgar language. :th_bawi: Thank you :th_thx:
ThePerfectHit Posted November 23, 2014 Report Posted November 23, 2014 OK, so just a few problems with this type of event. 1. Soon as the map is announced by the GM what is to stop people from starting early by just auto-looting and killing every monster on the map? 2. This is a PK server meaning basically every map is free-game for killing and this hurts the new players who are trying to compete in this event. 3. You said there would be a time limit, but what is to stop people from continuing to hunt and later saying "Oh I had this amount this whole time". 1
Stranger Posted November 23, 2014 Author Report Posted November 23, 2014 Well, I agree with your concerns. For your first point, the GM is the one who starts the event. So when the players warp, there would be no monsters. When the GM says start, the monsters would appear. That way the people cant start killing before the event begins. For the PK, there could be few level's. For example all the new players who are base level 99 or lesser could be put in one map... so on and so forth. That way the competition wouldn't be so high. And the map must be considerably big + the monsters must be hard to find. By this the players will concentrate on finding the monster rather that killing each other. For your time limit question, as soon as the Time limit is reached, the monsters disappear. I would also like to add a new option. As soon as the players warp to the map, all commands are disabled, all items in inventory(except character bound) are put into storage. The usage of skills are also prohibited which will enable the players to just have some mindless fun. If they cant use skills, they wont bother to kill others. Your insights have been very useful. Thanks a lot. Please do leave more suggestion and comments like such. :)
forsakenlelouch Posted November 23, 2014 Report Posted November 23, 2014 Question: 1. how about if the gm said stop hunting and the player's still continue hunting ? 2. how does the gm will know who got the most particular item if the player that joined is many ? 3. what map do u think is the best for this event ?
Stranger Posted November 23, 2014 Author Report Posted November 23, 2014 For your first question. The GM wouldn't say stop at all. When the time run's out all the monsters will disappear, thereby eliminating the possibility of hunting the monsters after the time limit. Second of all i think GM's will have the power and resources to know how many items or what amount of items a player has in his inventory. As i stated in my previous reply all the items in the inventory of a player will be automatically put into storage(except character bound). So this would make it even easier for the GM's to know who has the most number of that particular item. I'm still working on the map though. Maybe a custom map could be used(Allocated only for this event). By this the event can gain popularity as well. Suggestions for the map's are welcome.
sartorius19 Posted November 23, 2014 Report Posted November 23, 2014 I could use geared low level so that i can own new guys. And same thing will come to mind to other players as well. Also. what if the players have the certain item in bulk in their storage already? Basically myself as a farmer before. i have all sorts of things in my inventory. Thats why i can somehow win in scavenger hunts. And the pk will still hurt new ones even if there is a level restriction. Let a GM announce a particular map location for the players to warp to. Then in that particular map the GM names a monster (the map must have a variety of monsters). and this. For your first point, the GM is the one who starts the event. So when the players warp, there would be no monsters. When the GM says start, the monsters would appear. That way the people cant start killing before the event begins. the connection of these two are important. if a GM will announce a certain map location. it would be a trouble. because some maps have mobs already. and reducing spawn of mobs and having a larger map will take time to initiate and will affect other in-game things i think. For the PK, there could be few level's. For example all the new players who are base level 99 or lesser could be put in one map... so on and so forth. That way the competition wouldn't be so high. And the map must be considerably big + the monsters must be hard to find. By this the players will concentrate on finding the monster rather that killing each other. and related above. you said a Gm will announce a map location so now. how would the level restriction apply? if people seeing the location already they will automatically start warping including all of em. we need a different limiting factor in this. For your first question. The GM wouldn't say stop at all. When the time run's out all the monsters will disappear, thereby eliminating the possibility of hunting the monsters after the time limit. Second of all i think GM's will have the power and resources to know how many items or what amount of items a player has in his inventory. Suggestions for the map's are welcome. also this. even if the GM have the power or resources to do so. it would take time if he needs to check each and every player's inventory lets say more than 20-30players joined. which really is an understatement to those who wanna join the event. it would take too much time.
