sec17 Posted September 17, 2014 Report Posted September 17, 2014 How come I'm lagging so bad, I'm from Canada and I have 30ping 16mbps download speed and 1mbps upload speed. I hope someone can help me I'm bored and hoping to get back on RO again :)
CrimsonKing Posted September 20, 2014 Report Posted September 20, 2014 (edited) I am from canada to :) The server is hosted out of Dallas Texas area and should have decent speed for you. What kind of lag is it. Possible to be PC related? Run as administrator, and ensure your resolution and graphics settings are optimized for smoothest performance. Sometimes and uglier picture can make a world of difference to your gameplay speed. Also make sure there are not ghosted programs or too many open programs taking lots of CPU processing power, and keep your operating system and graphics drivers up to date. Our server sees massive amounts of traffic, sometimes we almost hit 2,000 players online at a time!! And the costs to host a server with the capacity to run smoothly with this kind of traffic becomes very expensive. Our server doesn't generate more then 900$ a month, and that is hardly enough to find a host for 2,000 people from across the world. It is very difficult, but I play comfortably with lag. It's not debilitating enough that I can't play. It just is. However I can Assure you, we have the most steady and reliable server host As far as current RO privately run servers are concerned. Our administrative staff are very mindful of this and would love nothing more then to have the best of the best for our community, and as with much other aspects of the game, they are constantly pushing for improvements. There is nowhere to go but up for forsakenRO and in time we will have improved hosts and better connections for not just our players in Canada, but for everyone across the globe. As with cable or telephone or even your own internet provider. Sometimes the server will hit a slump, it's the cost of a low budget server. ( imagine the millions of dollars big game company's like RO or Maplestory, etc. are pulling in to afford what is sometimes not lag free ) But please hang in there!
