[Solved]Setup.exe Problem

I've read what seems like hundreds of "solved" topics on this issue, and have tried many different solutions, but to no avail.

First, yes, I installed using the All In One package. When I open up my setup.exe, the drop down menus for resolution and my graphics card are blank. I've made sure that my drivers and DirectX are all up to date. I've tried running both the setup and the client using adminstrator options and with compatibility mode. Nothing has helped. I've even tried reinstalling the game.

Needless to say, the game just won't load. There are countless threads on this topic that have been locked because the originator just never responded that things were fixed. I'm sorry to start another, but I've tried everything I read in those threads.

I have Windows 7, my driver is NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT, and I have DirectX 11. I've read in other places that people have had problems with games due to the fact that this 8600 is only compatible with DX10, but there is no way to downgrade to an older version of DX. I even deleted DirectX and reinstalled it.

There's always a way to download an older version of directX. Having a newer version installed than your graphics card can handle can cause all sorts of issues.

Try moving your folder out of the program files folder and put it on your desktop. Then try to follow the steps again to set it up. I am afraid though that the wrong version from directX is causing the issue.

If moving the folder does not work, please open your setup.exe and screenshot it. then upload it here and we'll take it from there :)

Hello Matrograd, I had the issue a little while too. What solved it for me was using Windows XP (SP3) as compatibility mode and not run it as administrator. The Forsaken Client had to be run as administrator and in compatibility mode. However, I am using Windows 8 pro, so it might differ from you.
Before it worked straight out of the box, but it didn't after a reboot, so perhaps try rebooting and then adjust these settings. Also a windows firewall message might pop-up, accept the access they request then.

Another thing might be updating your graphic card drivers from nvidia themselves, usually windows just installs 'a driver' for you, but stick to the original software instead.

Hope this will help you out a little.

James, there's nothing in the empty bar to click on. I tried clicking in the empty spaces even. Can't do it.

Sensation, I already tried all of that. I mentioned it in my first post.

I am sorry for the redundancy, just wanted to make sure you've tried all options when it comes to that.
Which anti-virus are you running? It might cause a problem because those programs sometimes get a false positive from the RO executables. Try adding them to the safelist of your anti-virus.
I'll look for an OpenSetup meanwhile, might help also.

Can try the following too:

1. Run Regedit (start -> regedit or start -> run -> regedit or windows+R -> regedit)

2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Gravity Soft\Ragnarok For 32bit systems,
or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Gravity Soft\Ragnarok
(You should only have either or anyways, so check both if you're unsure which operating system you're running).

3. Navigate to Gravity Soft, and click on the Ragnarok folder. From there on, you should see a list of keys on the right.
Find the one that says HEIGHT and WIDTH, right click, and click modify.
After that, Make sure Decimal is checked off, and change it to the resolution you want.

Here's the link for OpenSetup

I tried to change the settings like you recommended, and there was no difference. I'm loath to download that OpenSetup file because I read other threads on the forum where people were told not to use it.

Ok, so something we did fixed it. I shut down my computer and when I restarted, I was able to select the correct options in the setup.exe file and run the game. Thanks so much for your help. This can be locked, I suppose.

Glad it's solved. I haven't checked myself but if the open setup is the renewal setup then it's indeed no use to run it. It's not effecting our game client as is. If it's a different kind of setup then I don't know, I'd have to test :).

Either way, solved!
