Dudu Posted March 4, 2012 Report Posted March 4, 2012 So i was thinking, since the Original RO is atm on 3rd jobs and stuff ( I know they are still on testing and blablabla ) But it would be totally cool if we could have like a test server, in which we can just use the original items ( no customs ) with w/e rates or lvls ( just to make it easier ) And see how the jobs are and stuff, the skills and what not. What do you guys think?
Xtopher Posted March 4, 2012 Report Posted March 4, 2012 Nines suggested this like 8 months ago. Probably shoulda told you in skype.... I don't remember what happened to the suggestion though. O well.
Kcid Posted March 4, 2012 Report Posted March 4, 2012 Well its just a test server why not.. I agree....
Levis Posted March 4, 2012 Report Posted March 4, 2012 I have tested a few of them and they are OP. But nothing speaks against a test server. Let's see what Genesis will say.
Seraphine Posted March 4, 2012 Report Posted March 4, 2012 http://www.forsaken-ro.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=19168&st=20 Look at Veracity's post.
Decode Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 Even though I know what Veracity said, I would like to see a test server... Idea *_*: There is no apparent order for this idea, I just type while new ideas comes into play. - Make a test server with some sort of DB migration, which consist on having all the same items that we actually have in fro, or maybe just the items that are used the most PvP-wise. - Make the test server have the same rates level wise and character weapon boost that we have right now. - Let players use the @blvl, @jlvl and @items, so they can start testing different classes and skills right away, or better idea just to make a NPC that does it for you. - Make a server wipe every half a month so the Database doesn't grow too much and take the main server's resources. - The test server shall work for a testing time of around 2 to 3 months (I consider that is enough time to test everything and see if it could be implemented on the main server or not), (Also that would stop people from leaving the main server just to join the test server). 1

Yes, what Decode said~ +1
Shadi Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 Disagree. This test server would most likely be hosted on the same host as our main server. Therefore it will have a high probability of increasing ping on the main server. I want, at all costs, that the main server remains stable and with the best connection possible. Adding a second server to it will not benefit the connection. As for the 'test period'. After every single test done. Changes have to be made. These changes would be made to the test server. While at the same time this time invested in the test server could've been invested into the main server. Tests and changes are an ongoing process. A system is never completely done with it's testing phase as long as changes are being made to it. It's an ongoing project not something you can cancel in a few months time and consider enough testing to be done. 1
