Basically, it would be good if you wanted an armor to wear while you're working on the other quests (the headgear it gives seems to be pretty popular with players too), or if you want to sell it to the NPC for some zeny. It's in no way required. Personally, I would just focus on completing the Elite quest and then start working on the Knight quest. Hope that helped!
