Dudu Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 (edited) Hmm i was thinking, in order to like, make forums more active and more support-ish. I was thinkin on, that the GM team could make a "Coders and Supporters application" Like, who knows if theres tons of coders in our community and, just because they hate being a gm, they dont apply. So i was thinkin that it would be cool if there was like "Forum GM's" or Moderators, they can take part of the Suggestions about the game, they can be supporters for those with problems but, since they are no game master, they cannot reach the Ticket System or the logs. That would increase the activity on Forums. Plus it would be beast if the actual GM team gets help with coding and stuff, so updates could come faster! Gm's are not machines so they also need more help! Watcha guys think. Edited September 1, 2011 by Dudu
Decode Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 Hmm i was thinking, in order to like, make forums more active and more support-ish. I was thinkin on, that the GM team could make a "Coders and Supporters application" Like, who knows if theres tons of coders in our community and, just because they hate being a gm, they dont apply. Hm, I don't think if that is possible to be added, like to integrate a whole programming language to the forums or actually making a whole IDE (Integrated Development Environment) for Ro, it would take quite a lot, not even eAthena has one as far as I know. What I could thing is of a forum section where players can upload or share their coding with the community more like about some suggestions. For example: I make a suggestion about GvG, and in my suggestion I say that as soon as the players clic the GvG NPC they are divided in different areas according to their guilds. Now in the coding section I go like or anyone can do this, make a topic called "Possible coding of Decode's GvG suggestion" and post his/her code there and basically GMs check it out and share our opinions and consider the changes that has to be done to the code or if it is good to go and implement it. About that players can't give support it is more like we have the Support section of the forums. The ticket system is private because it contains personal information of the players, and it is under each GM hands to keep that information personal. So yeah I consider that it is enough to have the support section public where everyone can help if they feel like it or share a possible solution to a problem they previously had.
Dudu Posted September 1, 2011 Author Report Posted September 1, 2011 Yeah but sometimes, Gm's takes too long to answer a suggestion or a support, i know that its public, but most of the ppl wont help. So making like a "Forum Moderator Team" would be cool. And about the coders, i meant like, when the Gm's are making an update, it requires lots of time since the coding and stuff takes loong, it would be more helpful for you guys if you get like a "Coding Team" that must help you on the update. So they release quickly!
Decode Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 Yeah but sometimes, Gm's takes too long to answer a suggestion or a support, i know that its public, but most of the ppl wont help. So making like a "Forum Moderator Team" would be cool. Well yeah, there is a Moderators tag on the forums, I just guess that nobody gets the tittle. But it is considered and inferred that we GMs are the moderators in game and in forums, so that must be why we don' t have moderators in forums. This is more like a heads up for us that we could be doing a better job moderating the forums. And about the coders, i meant like, when the Gm's are making an update, it requires lots of time since the coding and stuff takes loong, it would be more helpful for you guys if you get like a "Coding Team" that must help you on the update. So they release quickly! I really like this, we could make a whole Scripters team, where we all can share and get to work and improve stuff of the server without having to be GMs or anything. I would be part of it myself. I know there is already a Scripting team in the server, but what if some people get the opportunity to show and share their knowledge about Scripting with the others, I consider that when we talk Update-Wise the time it takes to finish an update would be reduced considerably.
Dudu Posted September 1, 2011 Author Report Posted September 1, 2011 Exactly! Its just positions that wont be higher than the GM Team of course. But it will be very helpful!

Yes more Scripters would be helpful but not everyone can be trusted because they could mess alot of stuff up, but in any case i like the idea. Edited September 1, 2011 by Seraphine

I don' t see how they could mess a lot of stuff my great friend, since they just post their scripts and it is up to Genesis if he wants to implement them or if they are ready to be implemented. But as you said, not everyone can be trusted. This is just to clear that point, it is not intended to denigrate anyone. Edited September 1, 2011 by Decode
Dudu Posted September 1, 2011 Author Report Posted September 1, 2011 I mean, not like moderator's its more like, Forum Gm's. They get the powers to accept and reject suggestion and to take care of the support section. Its like the GM work but just 50% o it!
Kittie Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 I always wondered who does the rejecting and accepting of suggestions. I think it must be the senior GMs since they know what the server responds to...it can't be just a random Forum GM right? 1
Decode Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 As Kittie said, the suggestions can only be accepted or rejected by the senior GMs or a higher rank GM.

Again like i said Gm's have forum powers, Accepting/Rejecting suggestions is to those who have the powers enabled to them(only senior gm's or higher unless someone gets special permission to do so), and Ryuk takes care of the Support section. Dudu Posted September 1, 2011 Author Report Posted September 1, 2011 (edited) Yeah Seraphine, so you think Ryuk is a robot, it could be very handy if he gets a little bit of help? EDIT: Wont you guys think that a little bit of help to the GM team, helping them with Suggestions and stuff, and coder team for the updates, would be 100x better for the community? This aint a 1 man job. Edited September 1, 2011 by Dudu
Sensation Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 Become more informed about RO generally and be the solution to your own perceptual 'problem'. Contribute to the support forums, contribute in-game to helping newbies, the problem doesn't always lie with the staff, but more generally how people think, act and respond to others. It would be nice if there are more helpful & friendly players, it would make the community a more bonded group and a brighter atmosphere would hang around the server. No Ryuk can't do it alone, he isn't a robot, maybe half cyborg, but that aside, but neither is the rest of the staff, your input & help is also very welcome. P.S. With "you" I don't mean you specifically Eduardo, but the community in general. 2
Dudu Posted September 1, 2011 Author Report Posted September 1, 2011 Sheet Sensation! You are hiding in a closet! Where have you been mang! So yeah, Theres not alot of liek, friendly players to help, i know it doesnt always relys on the GM but, what im saying, a little bit of help wouldnt hurt. I do the best to help the community in either forums or ingame. But it would be pretty cool if they assing possitions or what so ever. Love you Sensation <3

Mint Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 Nothing stops people helping others. The 'Support' Section of the forums is public anyway, so you can have an input there. That's where I like to post possible solutions to other's problems. You don't need the title of 'Moderator' or whatever to help people... The ticket system, which is private, I mainly use for in-game bugs, reports or account issues that a forum moderator wouldn't really be able to help with. This is why I don't agree with this suggestion and see no real need for it. As for the Scripting suggestion, I don't see a problem with the speed that the updates are coming out, speeding up the process may just put a strain on new idea's having to be thought. But it's a good idea if extra help is needed.
Veracity Posted September 6, 2011 Report Posted September 6, 2011 Only higher up GMs can accept/reject suggestions because we know all of the plans for the server and have an idea of future updates, other things we're planning, etc. Often times if suggestions are left open it's so more people can provide input and a conclusive decision can be reached. As for the forum moderators, like others have said, there is really no need for them. As GMs, it's our responsibility to moderate the forums ourselves. I think what Sensation said is very true. Regarding scripters, anyone who is capable of scripting can contact Genesis on MSN to talk more about. We do already have a group for that on the forums. I think it would be a good idea to try to bring in more, but the hard part is finding trustworthy people for the job. Perhaps we could open up applications exclusively for scripters, though they would be very limited in what they would do.
Dudu Posted September 7, 2011 Author Report Posted September 7, 2011 Yeah i know findin people is a drag sometimes, but making application could be a shot, maybe theres not a big rush on making them, since the update releases are good atm. But maybe this could be helpful in some other time.
