Justice Posted March 5, 2011 Report Posted March 5, 2011 M A R. 4, 2011 - M A R. 6, 2011 - Voting Thread -Theme: Freestyle We're sorry for the long wait! Welcome to the voting thread of the 42nd SOTW! When voting in the SOTW, we will be expecting you to fully understand the rules. Don't know the rules? Click Here. Have you seen the sources? If not, Click Here! ______________________________________________________Rules that the voter must understand: *Voters must have at least a post count of 10 in order to vote. *Contestants are not allowed to vote for themselves, but are now allowed to vote in the SOTW. *Judges' signature grades will be doubled (e.g., if a judge gives 10, it would count as 20). *Non-judge points will count for full credit. *Each voter must fill out at least one rubric for the entry of their choice. *Each entry must have at least 2-3 GOOD sentences in addition to the rubric. *Votes will be counted on Tuesday. Signatures will be based on a point-basis. ______________________________________________________Voting Rubric: Rate each of the following categories from 1 to 5, with 5 being 'excellent' and 1 being 'ok/decent'...*Creativity - how creative the signature is.*Technical - how challenging the attempted idea.*Execution- how the idea is put together and how successful it is.*Aesthetic- how visually pleasing the signature is, regardless of how complex it may be. Include the total points.Must include 2-3 sentences discussing the over-all reason why you're casting a vote for the signature. Try to think in terms of the categories above, but you're free to discuss other elements as well. (Note: you only have to do this once.)* This system is just a trial, it may be changed for the next voting period. This is hopefully to prevent a 'popularity' contest by making it so it's not about how many votes are received, but by the total points earned in different technical categories. ______________________________________________________Prizes: First Place: 100 Event Tokens. Second Place: 50 Event Tokens. Third Place: 25 Event Tokens. ______________________________________________________Entries: [1] Terroryst IGN: Blackbeard [2] nines IGN: Thesik Bellamorte [3] - R e i IGN: Lai Ar or Cronus [4] Bou IGN: Alice's Smile [5] McSassyChrist IGN: SassyMcFrazzleChrist [6] Meka Meka IGN: Meka [7] Poringly IGN: S&H. Seraphine Posted March 6, 2011 Report Posted March 6, 2011 (edited) I vote for [7] Poringly because of the creativity and overall look and feel of his signature, the signature appeals to your eye along with the design on the outside making it stand out just that much more and the warm feeling you get from the signature. The design on the outside adds just that much more to the signature, even though the design is sort of simple he pulls it off very well. Meka Meka Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 I vote [7] Poringly. Very creative taking icons and using them as elements in the design. At the time he posted this, it was very appropriate too! The chocolates just look yummy. I think I personally would have liked to see a slightly less-busy variation, and some the retaining lines are a bit jaggy/pixelated, but overall a unique and vibrant signature. Sheeque Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 Creativity 4 Technical 5 Execution 2 Aesthetic 3 I vote for cand 7 , Poringly . the idea's unique , appeals to a wider group of people given chocolate as the subject :-) . from looking at the original image , the candidate's developed it pretty well eg made it more classy with the art noveau influence . good choice of theme color , very much relating to the subject ( chocolate ) . downside : too busy and i'd second meka's opinion on how the outlines werent edited very well . text is plain , too bold and symmetrical - doesnt suit main design .
nines Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 Im going to vote for #4. Bou. When I think of freestyle I think of something you find cool and out of the normal that you do for you and not others. This has a awesome originality, has a nice render, and kind of seems like a ticket to a skating event. Only thing I would change would be the size. Its a bit to tall and the Font Get Up Brothers is a bit out of place with the feel of the main part of the signature. Creativity: 5 Technical: 4 Execution: 4 Aesthetic: 4.5
Justice Posted March 8, 2011 Author Report Posted March 8, 2011 The votes are looking great so far, guys. Let's try to get in a couple more before I close this tonight.
