Sensation Posted December 31, 2010 Report Posted December 31, 2010 Finally after months of work, Cotulla released the new MAGDLR and with it a NAND android stock Desire ROM (almost identical to the original one). No more Windows Mobile 6.5, that has been crap since forever anyway. Windows Phone 7 also is under development, the DFT(Dark Force Team) with Cotulla being the no. 1 man wanted to release a NAND Android ROM first. So maybe, just maybe our gift for the 1st of January could be Windows Phone 7, something that was promised to HD2 since it was released and halfway cancelled. So if there are people who want a super phone that can do like anything, go with the HTC HD2, the price has dropped quite a bit (and might rise once WP7 is portable to it) and is worth every penny of it. iPhone or BlackBerry, great phones, but not fantastic ones, HTC is going to be the new brand that leads the smart phone market, HD2 proves that they are. 1
Apo Posted December 31, 2010 Report Posted December 31, 2010 So we can have Android on the HTC HD2? Man that's the phone I was opting for until I saw Windows Mobile
Sensation Posted December 31, 2010 Author Report Posted December 31, 2010 Oh yea for a while already, but it always was on the micro-SD card and recently there were RAM versions. But Cotulla has been working on this since forever and has been able to have a NAND Android ROM, so no more windows mobile to boot into android at all. And within an unknown short amount of time (1 day/week/month), Windows Phone 7 should be available for the HD2 too. Currently running Android 2.3 Gingerbread on my HD2 atm, soon moving to NAND version, so byebye windows mobile 6.5 ^^

I would love a Desire HD based build! I bought the HD2 when it first came out and loaded Android as soon as they started releasing those builds starting with Darkstone, haha. Oh on a side note, I was always wondering if it'd be possible to change the system fonts on a Sense build with a NAND version. I did it on a lot of stock builds, but they had the root files on the SD card, so I wouldn't know where to start with a NAND build using Sense... Edited December 31, 2010 by Kittie

NAND build, stock version. If not there are a few other NAND builds out already that have lots of other versions as their base. The modifications will go wild in the next few days/weeks, still waiting for MDJ's NAND version of Gingerbread 2.3, of which I'm using the SD version at the moment. 1
Kittie Posted December 31, 2010 Report Posted December 31, 2010 I think Cotulla's version is just the Desire. I know another guy has a Desire HD based NAND build, but I've never used any of his SD builds before. I would rather wait for MDJ's NAND Desire HD. I like the sense widgets. D:

D: I'm unsure what he's up to first, fixing his SD version (GPS, USB connection & some other stuff) or directly going to make a NAND version that has those bugs fixed or still with the bugs, so much options. Might sound a bit too much of a nerd, but can't wait xD 1
Kittie Posted December 31, 2010 Report Posted December 31, 2010 A new build on your HD2 is like a new phone. Who could wait? :[
Sensation Posted December 31, 2010 Author Report Posted December 31, 2010 That is why I love my HD2 and I like that I'm not the only nerd around here either. Finally someone who understands my HD2 love <3 1
Sensation Posted January 1, 2011 Author Report Posted January 1, 2011 (edited) He's just jealous. Edit: MDJ has released a NAND version of Gingerbread! Edited January 1, 2011 by Sensation Woot!? 1
Sensation Posted January 1, 2011 Author Report Posted January 1, 2011 Got NAND Android Gingerbread running, no more windows mobile on this sexy HD2. 1
Kittie Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 Ya I flashed a TMOUS-only version of Desire HD on mine before work today. Only consumed 30% of my battery with average use over an 8 hour shift. I like it! No data drops or anything either.
Sensation Posted January 2, 2011 Author Report Posted January 2, 2011 So you went with Gauner's release or CMYLXGO's? I'm still using the unfinished Gingerbread and so far it's 'okay'. Might try out Cotulla's Desire version, so I know how things are when it completely works (and perhaps google gives a gingerbread update itself). 1
Kittie Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 I'm using CMYLXGO's. It's a good build, but since it's based off of Desire HD instead of just the Desire, there's more animations with the flip clock and fading in/out of screens so you'll see some lag when trying to multitask. But you barely notice it unless you're extremely picky about performance. 90% of the time, it's smooth and error-free. No HTC-sync though.
Sensation Posted January 2, 2011 Author Report Posted January 2, 2011 Oh well, things will be stable in a week or so. But what are we complaining about, we got Android and Android only. (: 1
Kittie Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 I can't stand Gingerbread NAND for some reason...
Sensation Posted January 5, 2011 Author Report Posted January 5, 2011 I can't use USA versions, so I'm happy with what they offer. And Gingerbread is quite stable, though with the new mod that MDJ applied, there's a bit of lag  1
Kittie Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 (edited) Yeah I flashed the 1.4 version last night and hated it because of the lag and the default chinese keyboard haha (even though I changed it). I'm really finnicky. I hate when people start modding the stock builds so much with stupid things like Cyanogenmod or w/e. Hate that. Edited January 5, 2011 by Kittie
Sensation Posted January 7, 2011 Author Report Posted January 7, 2011 We can mod it ourselves if we want to you know. And I used my back-up to reinstate the android keyboard I previously had, because I thought I was the only one with the Chinese keyboard, apparently not. So you're not that finnicky, it's normal to make your super awsm HD2 the way you want it to be (: 1
Sensation Posted January 17, 2011 Author Report Posted January 17, 2011 Tested the clockwork mod today with MDJ's 2.4v of the NAND rom, combine it with Titanium backup and a reboot and damnnnnnn the phone stays sexy in 1 go. FTW updates for a FTW phone with FTW problems (none!?). HD2 is the best phone released so far imo, phone2009/2010/2011 award! 1
Kittie Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 Are you updating his updates using the new .zips through clockwork mod? And just not wiping before flashing? I'm on 2.5 now I think, and wanted to go 2.6 just cuz he released it. I know I flashed pongster's Hyperdroid ROM v1.00 and then updated to v1.10 through his update.zip but it was just an update instead of a whole new ROM. I'm not a fan of clockwork mod recovery, but it does the job well.
L2Aim Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 Yes I'm using Clockwork Recovery Mod and using MDJ's v2.6. It upgrades your software to Android 2.3.2 I thought, so a newer Gingerbread version. What's so nice about CRM is that you keep your data and only the ROM is updated and not everything is wiped.
L2Aim Posted January 30, 2011 Report Posted January 30, 2011 Time to test a new build, MDJ has no HTC sense and I'm missing that a little. My new build to be will be this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913597
