Tom & Jerry Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Well, some novices don't understand that you don't need to have max job level to become reborn, Ive seen quite a few novices that spend time getting max job leveled and even max base level at times, so maybe we should make that clear, and not make them waste quite a while.
Veracity Posted August 28, 2010 Author Report Posted August 28, 2010 I definitely agree with you on that, Jerry. We've been working on some of the suggestions here (you'll have to wait for the next update to see which ones though! ;P) and one of the things we were a little uncertain of was the suggestion about the non-donation/non-custom farming area with pvp disabled. Since pvp is already disabled in fdun, is there any specific reason why this was suggested? Or is it just because ya'll want these mobs to drop different items (e.g. some of the things for the elite quests)? I'd really appreciate it if someone could clarify/elaborate on this. :) Also! Please keep the wonderful suggestions up. I really want to do as much as we possibly can to resolve this issue and make it easier for new players to start out here.
nines Posted August 28, 2010 Report Posted August 28, 2010 Keep the suggestions up hmmm? I can do dat :O
maxlittle007 Posted August 28, 2010 Report Posted August 28, 2010 A novice should have a starting zeny of 100000z,if they become first job then it becomes 200000z zeny and in the end transcend form gets 300000z zeny. That might be a challenging aspect too, they cant get the zeny directly, they ll have to level up to get that zeny. A mall warper can be kept, new players can click the npc to get in the mall.
Veracity Posted August 28, 2010 Author Report Posted August 28, 2010 We discussed adding more zeny, but I don't think it would be a good idea to increase it that much. People could always leach new characters and just take all of the zeny and transfer it to their main account. :/ I'm a little confused what you mean for the second part. Do you mean adding a warper in fcity that will take you right to the mall?

I do agree with your point on the zeny thing. But still zeny doesnt play much role in this server. Its like the servers mode of currency has almost changed into coupons[DQPS/EQPS].If new players get lot of zeny, they can buy stuffs from the mall or they can buy stuffs from players who vend,I mean to say thats as far as they can go with more zeny. They cant go beyond that.

Making a Forsaken DUNGEON quest with mobs with quite decent exp, and pvp disabled. This mobs will drop some of the items that the New Newbies Ruck/Wings will required and it will be a boost to lvl up not faster but quite fast. About the map....We should like totally use a Prt_Maze map, they are pretty big and its kinda fRO related :P I hope i clarify the concept for you n__n Any other questions feel free to post!
Veracity Posted August 29, 2010 Author Report Posted August 29, 2010 @max Yea, I do agree with you that zeny isn't that useful on this server apart from buying some basic supplies, etc. We'll see about this. I'd say we're definitely going to increase the amount of zeny that players start with, just haven't decided on the exact amount yet. @Goldy Oh okay! I get it now. Thank you for clarifying, I like the idea a lot. (; I think using prt_maze would be nice as well.
Guest xonchu Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 uhmmm please fix how fcity is arranged,,,.. the job changer NPC is too far to find i mean newbies will take time to ask where is the job changer like me in the beginning.. better to remove NPCs which are useless for us.. like event NPC which was accessable for only GMs... :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ end.

Man.....If you really want to play fRO as a newbie, like 90% of the new ppl explores teh city and look for npcs and stuff so i think they are good as it is. :D
nines Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 Most people ask where the mall is. We should also upgrade our mall its kinda lame doesn't really set you up to mvp.
Dudu Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 Most people ask where the mall is. We should also upgrade our mall its kinda lame doesn't really set you up to mvp. Ya ikr, thats why i want to make this Newbie Set, a decent set before the elite one so, you could kill mvps in order to get the mvp card that requires for the Quest.
maxlittle007 Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 The forsaken dungeon quest should be made simple.More like the whole structure of the quest should be changed.Collecting Old Picks, then going to the mine, start mining, getting quest items from mining is so random,i dont think that strategy works for new players,it would take a lot of time[days probably]. New players should farm for the Fdun quest items, one of the quest items can even be a mvp card to make it more challenging.
Guest xonchu Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 oh man,. but finding the job changer was hard imo... thats one important npc..when i was a newbie.. i got to ask loads of people and people were ignoring me until one came.. and he is one of my good friends ingame :)

Bump. Lets help them!
Dudu Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 cough BUMP cough :D Come on, am i the only one who wants to help newbies >: !!!?!?!!?!?
Veracity Posted September 9, 2010 Author Report Posted September 9, 2010 (edited) Agree, let's hear more from the community. We were doing so well before! Now is the time to suggest things for this since this is what we are currently working on (a long with some other really AWESOME things that ya'll should be super excited for... I know I am!). Keep the great ideas coming! (: Edit: Just tossing this idea out here, but what if we made it so players could purchase basic equipment in the Forsaken King room using vote points? (Or just add them to vote rewards, but either way make sure they are bound to the account). They'd of course be costly, but it would give players something to work toward and support the server at the same time. I don't know though, just trying to think of a way to either (1) make it easier for newer players to obtain donation coupons (2) make it easier for new players to get better gears/survive in pvp. Adamxd Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 Not sure if someone already suggested it but: I think the thing which make some new players not to stay with us longer is just lvling up. Why we can't pick class, and make a kind of lvling up room for every class. In every room we could have monsters easy to be killed by each class. People are shouting LEECH ME PLZ. Maybe that would help new players and they will stay with us?
Poringly Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 Not sure if someone already suggested it but: I think the thing which make some new players not to stay with us longer is just lvling up. Maybe that would help new players and they will stay with us? Ya, I agree with you. :\ I think we should add more Exp to the monster in some Lvling map and make them easier too kill. Like,, Double the exp from the monster lhz_dun03 or thor_v03 and Lower their HP / Defenses so they can kill it easily without being geared. :3
Veracity Posted September 10, 2010 Author Report Posted September 10, 2010 Well, about the difficulty with leveling without gears, it was already suggested to create gears that players start out with/quest for that would help leveling. Also, we could start emphasizing the mercenary system more so people know that there is always that option. Or we could make a custom place for people to level after lhz_dun03, but that would be quite a bit of work to accomplish. It seems that from the reviews/what players say, they are most discouraged about pvping because the drastic difference between beginner gears and the veterans/people who dominate pvp. I was also disappointed to see a lot of players bully and pick on newer/less geared players. That is a sure fire way for new players to leave, unfortunately there isn't much we can do about it as staff... that's something our players can work on though. (:

(: - 2. 1 - Well, yeah that would be nice but i think it would take lot's of time to be done @__@. 2 - Well, Ikr. But this is a PK server so we can't do anything much about it.The solution is, I think that there would be a Mercenary ( Bodyguard ) Who will actually help the newbie in Pvp like, the Mercenary give's some protective buff ( Kyrie, Assumptio, Safety Wall, Pneuma, Etc etc. ) When the newbie is in danger ( Like 1/3 Of the HP? ) and it only work for 5min and you have to wait 30min to get another Mercenary so they won't abuse it! and i think it would be nice if it only work for the people with has NO Fking Set ( Well, Let the Merc do some Equipment Checking? ) If the User has Forsaken King Set, it will Error you and the Merc will be gone automaticly , How's that Sound? :)
Phenomenon Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 (edited) You don't really need a forsaken king armor set to kill people, weapons and elite sets do more than enough, so I have to disagree with that part of your suggestion Poringly. I say that the mercenary disappear after you reach level 200 or so. I agree with Veracity's suggestion of a custom dungeon for people to level in after Lighthalzen 03 has stopped being productive. Don't get me wrong, with gears, it doesn't take long to level, but without them it's quite difficult, so I can understand new people having difficulty leveling alone. A custom dungeon strictly for the purpose of leveling would be interesting, and some new mob drops could be introduced which help novices. They could drop cards that have effects similar to our best MvP cards, but fall short, and there sole purpose is to give new people a chance to advance and better themselves. Cards such as ones that ignore half of the enemie's base defense (weapon card, lesser version of an Incantation Samurai) +50 hit (weapon card, lesser version of an Incantation Samurai), +25% damage to demi-human monsters, -50% SP (boot card, lesser version of an FBH.) While it is true that this cards cater more to PvP oriented people, we could also do cards with similar, but lesser, effects than useful MvPing cards, or even add new custom weapons to our mall that have no slots and have effects such as +200% MATK on MvP monsters, +100% long range damage to MvP monsters, etc. I'm not trying to make MvP easier, I'm just trying to make the process of advancing within our server easier. It is true anyone can make it, but it's a hard road. Easing the leveling a bit, adding more custom cards that can help our new players without alienating our current ones, and maybe adding a new form of MvPing/collecting items would help. I'm not even sure if MvPing is the way to go, the release of new items and the current HUGE influx of MvP cards in the economy makes them not so worthwhile to sell, maybe adding a new consumable item or worthwhile QUEST items, that's not so easy to get as Yggdrasil Seeds/Berries/Speed Potions would help determined hunters to work hard and be rewarded for it. maxlittle007 Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 (edited) How about a mercenary that can do storm gust lvl 10 ,and give them levels. Like when they melee a monster ,the mercenary will cast storm gust level 10 and give them level up. Edited September 10, 2010 by maxlittle007
nines Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 OK we really need to speed up the update for helping new players out. Have you seen what happened the the players <.< we've had like 30+ people on for the last 2 days.....
