He's 16, a lot of musical stars got their start around that age. Especially if they were "pop" stars, e.g. the Beatles, Michael Jackson, etc.

Please... OH PLEASE don't compare Michael Jackson to Bieber... MJ started with he was 6 and the Jackson 5 had hit it big when he was only 11. MJ went through more hardship before he was 15 than this Bieber kid will ever have to deal with.
