Prank Call! Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 The simple yet flawless graphics are wasted if there is no reason to have them on screen. Because, the storyline was so basic it was almost nonexistent. I want to see the movie where the strong military male from the "future" meets the spiritual and wild woman of the "primitive" world. Because I did not like the robotic characters I spent most of the time predicting (the already predictable) transition of the movie. If you read nothing else read this: If you want to see a bad yet "modern" rendition of Pocahontas and want another almost kids movie environment you should certainly think about seeing this movie. Or, if you want to watch three Weta (a New Zealand film graphic company) showing everyone how blue they can make people. And, that they still can't make flying things as good as Rising Sun Pictures (The Australian specialist company that made the dragons in Harry Potter... among other things.) This is what I call a well thought critique!
Terroryst Posted January 10, 2010 Report Posted January 10, 2010 Iron Man has no good enemies. It's only cool because War Machine's in it.
Anarii Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 The storyline is indeed very cheesy, but the CG alone is enough to see it :3
Devotion Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 I'd heard so much about it so I was pretty excited about it. Might be because of that, that I am now so disappointed. I really expected so much more! Like a story line maybe. And I don't like the technological biological world mix. :/ It seems disjointed and messy. It was done well I do say. But IMO it's always a bad idea. It doesn't work like that. The technological/biological mixture was due to the human infringement into a completely natural environment. There was a plot by definition, even if you feel it's been recycled. Anyways...you're a bunch of downers, I swear. Some of you making assumptions before even seeing it. Why is it that out of all the Avatar fans I see blogging and talking about it I get stuck with the negative nog heads? I saw it earlier and it was super, fantastic, amazing. If you can point me to one movie that is completely novel then go ahead, because you're complaining about the movie being unoriginal in its plot when the rest of the movies being pumped out are 100 times less original than Avarar. Well 'scuse me...picky picky, but the entire artistry of the entire movie was new. The way it was filmed was new. And it is the second highest grossing film, exceeded only by the Titanic, which Cameron also directed. I was on the verge of tears for practically 1/3 of the movie, a lot of the time for the music combined with the sheer beauty of everything. My eyes moved across the screen like crazy to catch every detail. And for 180 minutes I was in another world. Perhaps some people don't like it because it shows how truly disconnected humans are to the nature around us, and how eager we are to earn a buck at the cost of millions of years of evolution and natural balance. Well, I give this movie 5 stars The art and all its containing ideas, concepts and sets were vibrant, painfully beautiful, and expertly executed. One can recognize certain traits that the ecosystem of Pandora shares with Earth; such as the threat display of the charging hammerhead beast, the large plants which pop into the ground upon being touched, and the seedlings from the Tree of Souls which float around like dandelions. Of course because it's so tropical everything there is so much larger, including the natives. On that note, the Na'vi were so simple, yet effective. Their culture can be said to resemble the Mayans mixed with Voodoo flare, but their garments and their language are one of a kinds. I'll add here that Neytiri was a spectacular character, in fact she made the movie in many respects with her overly emotional but mischievous ways. Romance was handled very tastefully, and by God they didn't' hide the asses or the nipples! (A+) I was able to predict many things as well, but for this movie no enjoyment was lost because of it. I could go on and on about Avatar, but I'll finish by saying how some of the best scenes were the dragon's flights. I wish we had a flying animal big enough to carry us :P
elmersupergwapo Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 The storyline is indeed very cheesy, but the CG alone is enough to see it :3
Annie Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Watched it. I mean, Female blue poeple: 10 foot tall smurf bitches. Male: 10 foot tall, wearing just a cloth, ew, gross, ew.
Danny Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 Lol Well, this movie kinda outdid itself against all odds, no matter how cheesy it may or may not be to us. It is now, number#1, one of the highest grossing film ever. Even beating Titanic which have been number#1 for years. I have to admit Titanic had a better story line than Avatar, the action did filled that void of " I want to see more robots, I want to see more explosions, I want to see blue boobies " feeling LOL. Smurfing Good. I really do like this movie a lot, I don't really care about the bad reviews and all that stuffs. It really is or does depends on each and every individual's preferences. I kept telling everyone that this movie is just too effin awesome u noe? Unoriginal? Sure, it is. Artistic? Of course, always. A Beautiful World filled unknown Mysteries and Wonders which mesmerize you in every way possible and that you forgot that you were in the cinema in the first place, then you tried to be one of the Navi by taking your clothes off and color your skin blue? DUH!
D.Vampire Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 I, Somewhat got tired and feeling dizzy. Aften watching the movie.
D.Vampire Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 Wait, did you watch the 3d version or the 2d version? 3d makes me feel a little motion sickness sometimes. :/ The 3d version one.
Supreme Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 Short story is that it's not correct to think a good movie = more money. Well, it is by definition. Companies make movies for money so, more money= better movie.
Supreme Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 (edited) All I'm saying is in the business world, the more a movie makes, the better. Hence why i said "companies". We're looking at it from two different angles, so just forget about it. And totally no need for the second part of your post. Edited February 1, 2010 by Supreme
Hitzusen Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 I liked it, eventough its fiction it teaches you that the human is not supreum. (what an ecological comment, lol) Do you know? It is the expensive movie made since the history of cine :O.
