I thought GTB blocks GC?

Is it normal that my Grand Cross does damages to me but not to my cousin when we both wear GTB Cards?

Grand cross will always cause self inflicting damage, gtb just reduces it but it will not harm any player with a gtb attached to their shield. So the mentioned scenario is correct
