Concerning the Wiki

Honestly I don't really have time to do this or else I would but I think the WIki needs to be updated, These forums are full of good guides that should be posted up on the wiki to make them more useful and I'm not sure how Wiki works but it would just be mostly copy and paste with a few edits.... Lol I know someone has some free time so maybe we should go ahead and move this guides onto the Wiki because right now it is lame...

You guys need to understand Nick, and a select few others, have real access to the Wiki page.

Maybe you guys need to take time out in your day to help them out by posting it. THan leaving a message for them to possibly fix it.

I know that well if you can fix it up nick I will go ahead and move my guides over and if possible (while maintaning the original author) move a few of the other Guides over as well.

Well everybody has access. They just can't protect/unprotect/delete pages.

Jae, me and Leni patrol the Recent Changes log so if anything gets added or changed we'll know about it one way or the other, so there's no need to tell us.

Maybe just leave a comment on the talk page.

Maybe you should make a Wiki for dummy guide because I just made an account and I have no clue on how to make a new page or add the guide lol >.>;

Ah. Just type the name in the search box at the left then hit "Go", and click on the "Add new article" link on the page it takes you to.

For reference, I added as much info as I could about actual wiki markup to the help page.

Me and Nick aren't here to add every single guide while most people sit back and vandalize the wiki. See a good guide? Add it yourself. Fucked up with the formatting? Me and Nick will fix that, along with Pat & Jerry.

We're waiting for you guys to start accepting the wiki into the community and realize how important it is.

I agree I think it is very important, is Wiki Code HTML or does it use another Code because I can maybe do it myself if I knew the coding, and sorry I'm a bit to lazy to read the help guide <3 XP

Mediawiki uses a special markup they call wikicode. You should definitely just check the Help section, it has a list of all the basic wikicode examples.

It is coding just like HTML is coding in the technical sense. (Encoding data into a certain format)

You probably meant programming which it isn't, just like HTML isn't. Although Wikicode is more programming than HTML as it includes basic parser function hooks. However those are technically all written in php. It still gives you the possibility to do basic processing though. Without data storage it'll never really be turing complete though, since you can't modify articles as runtime, even though you could technically use them to store data.

But for all intents and purposes, wikicode is coding.

Yea it seems more like a "Texting" Language but I mean if it says Code in it it has to be a code, and since I consider HTML "Coding" (But not really it is only coding when you integrated Javascript ect XP) but from what I have seen it seems pretty easy I don't have to much time examine every simple method/snippet of code there is but it seems relatively easily that even someone who has never touched even HTML could possibly learn the basics of it pretty fast.
